Summary: Never judge a book by its author's name!
Review: Bought this book thinking it would be a gift for someone who likes romance novels. She already had it. The book sat around for awhile, then someone asked me if I liked Sandra Brown's new mystery novel, and pointed out some of the reviews.

Rule: Never judge a book by its author's name.

FAT TUESDAY is a good adventure story with a decent mystery plot, though not as strong as some I've read. What excels here are the characters. Pinkie Duvall is well portrayed as not only a powerful attorney, but a drug dealer as well. Burke Basile is a New Orleans cop whose life is falling apart. His partner died accidentally from a shot fired by Basile in a drug raid and he witnesses his wife involved with someone else. Basile wants revenge, and his target is Pinkie Duvall, who he holds responsible for all that has happened to him. He resigns from the New Orleans Police, poses as a priest to kidnap Remy, Pinkie Duvall trophy wife, then the action really starts.

The characters are well defined. The plot seems like a cliche at first, then suddenly you find that you can't put this one down. Good book - I'll be looking for more of Sandra Brown's mystery novels.

Summary: Please please please
Review: Burke Basile is a man on a mission -- to kill the white collar criminal who's behind the death of his partner. He kidnaps the man's wife to lure out the crook, and falls in love with her...

Herein lies the problem... how and WHY does he fall in love? The criminal justice aspect of this story is solid, but the romance is quick, flawed and unbelievable. Burke's got no reason to love her, other than her good looks. Expect a good plot, and ignore the attempt at making this a ROMANTIC suspense. The overall story is good.

Summary: Another great from Sandra Brown
Review: Burke Basille is one of a few good men, a cop in New Orleans Narcotic Department trying to bring the bad to justice. When a drug bust goes horribly wrong, and the Justice Department fails him, Burke quits his job in order to get the bad guys, including rotten cops, no matter the cost.

The characters we great, you really got a sense on who they are and why they are the way they are.
I gave this book four stars because the beginning was very slow and I had to force myself to stay interested. But from about the middle on I couldn't put the book down. The ending fully made up for the slow start, I'm glad I kept reading!

Summary: she's done it again
Review: I don't think I have ever been disappointed in any of her mystery books. This one was a little different in that the main character was a man rather than a woman. He, Burke Basil, is a cop who accidently shot and killed his partner. He wants to get the man, Pinkie Duval, who he thinks has been behind many of the crimes being perpetrated in his area. Pinkie has been too clever to get caught by normal means, so Burke decides to go after him in an unconventional manner. He quits his job and decides to go after the one thing he thinks will upset Pinkie the most, Pinkie's wife, Remy. He kidnaps Remy, and then things really get cooking. The story keeps you interested til the last page.

Review: I felt compelled to write a review if it stops just one person from buying this book. Even after reading some of the less than complimentary reviews, I still went out and purchased it. Stupid stupid stupid. It was sooo boring, I could barely finish it. The herone was unlikable, the hero even less so. I liked Pinkie(the villain) more than both of them combined. If you want to have something to line your birdcage with, buy this book.If you are looking for a good read, keep looking.

Summary: Pretty interesting like watching tv in my head
Review: I like it. I can't put it down to do my homework. I like the part about Remy Duvall and her powerful rich husband even though he is a bad-ass, and I think it reads well. Fast, Interesting
although I don't belived some of it would ever happen in real life. And if it could then I like being convinced that it could.

Summary: A Big Disappointment
Review: I'm somewhat new to reading crime novels, but I know there are better writers out there. FT's plot & characters are interesting and well-developed, but Brown's writing is full of cliche and overused metaphors. I couldn't loose myself in the well-crafted story because I was embarrassed for the author. I will likely try another of Brown's novels before I give up on her, but I can't take much more like this one.

Summary: To my liking!
Review: I've never been much of a reader, so when I started reading like a manic, this was the second book that I picked up to read. This was the first book of Sandra Browns that I've had the honor to read. I usually pick up a book and if it does not grip me from the beginning I will not finish it. I read this book back a few months ago and it is still fresh in my mind. So I would have to say that it is a great book!
