Summary: A real fan
Review: I am a fan of novels with well thought out story lines and characters that are developed and of importance to the plot. This novel lacks all the aforementioned requirements. My primary motivation for finishing the book was to determine if Mr. Tyree would live up to the "buzz". Sadly, he did not. By all means, I give credit where credit is due but in this case I simply cannot. Diary of a Groupie left me 1) confused by the "out of the blue" & underdeveloped characters 2) annoyed by crucial unanswered questions and 3) upset that I bothered to finish it. If you do not want to feel either 1,2 or 3 select something else to read.

Summary: Glad I borrowed it instead of buying it.
Review: I should have known better than to expect something spectacular from Omar Tyree after the disappointment of For the Love of Money. Still, I wanted to give this novel a chance because Flyy Girl was a great book and because the title was so intriguing. The idea behind the plot was a great one; many readers want to look into the mind of a groupie and find out what makes someone sleep with a stranger only because he has money and fame. Unfortunately, this story failed to do that. I never found out what made Tabitha crave these men, and I was confused by the weird plot twists, numerous one-dimensional characters and gaping conclusion. I give this book two stars instead of one because I managed to finish it, and because it served its purpose: I needed something to read on the train during my commute to keep winos and crazy people from approaching me.

Summary: It was not worth the money

Summary: Lighthearted Intrigue, People!
Review: I had no idea when I pulled this book out of my bag during my summer vacation that it would be so good. Omar Tyree has created an intriguing story that kept me enthralled to the end. I was so captivated by Tabitha and her mission to bring down a famous actor who preys on young women. It was crazy to see just who were the "bad guys," and who would come to Tabitha's rescue. The book did have its weak moments, times when the dialogue was choppy, but overall it kept me on the edge of my seat. Some of the reviewers of "Diary" I think took the book too seriously. It's meant to be a thriller, but kind of lighthearted at the same time. I mean, how else could you root for a character who made her living sleeping with celebrities, many who were married with children? Just take the book for what it is: a summer read that entertains and holds your interest. And besides, the way the book ended, you can tell it's headed for a sequel.

Summary: Loved it!
Review: I love Omar Tyree and think that he writes from the heart. This book was interesting becuase it had drama and suspense which is hard to find in most African-American authors. I would recommend this book to everyone.

Summary: Why did I buy it?
Review: Maybe if I had read some of the reviews here, I may not have bought it. But I did. And I'm disappointed. I can't lie, I like most of Omar Tyree's books -- especially Flyy Girl -- but Diary of a Groupie is the most ridiculous book that I've read in a long time.

How did Tabitha's affair with Charles come about some quickly? What's with the sickly sister that popped in at the beginning and the dysfunctional Patrice and Marisol? Angela and Wallace are in, then out. Why is Raven even there? There is just too much going on and half of it doesn't make sense. The plot could have been moved along quickly and smoothly without half of these characters.

It's sad when you're reading and you sigh in disbelief because the characters, the plot and everything else are muddled and mixed up.

I believe Mr. Tyree was trying to give us a snapshot of Tabitha's life and maybe show us why she became the woman that she is, but, sorry, he failed. BIG TIME.

Maybe my questions will be answered at the end of the novel, but I don't know if I have the patience to read anymore.

Summary: still not as good as flyy girl
Review: Okay the last book I purchased from Omar Tyree was Sweet St. Louis. I had bought all of his releases prior to that and became disappointed with Sweet St. Louis. I said that I would not buy anymore of his books, but would borrow them or get the from the library. Well when I read the reviews for Diary of a Groupie I decided to give Mr. Tyree another chance. Bad idea. The book ...! The only character that was given any depth was Tabitha even though there were many other main characters. I found myself saying throughout the novel, "Huh? Who is (insert name) and where/when did he/she come into this?" or, "What happened to (insert person/event/thing)." Just not a good book at all. Sorry Omar I will not buy anymore of your novels. I mean it this time.

Summary: What A Let Down!
Review: Okay, here's the thing. I was on a date a couple of weeks ago, trying hard to impress this classy sista. Yes, I was pulling out all the stops because that's what a good brotha does, right? Anyway, she kept going on and on, fawning over Omar Tyree and his style of writing. Well, we had a follow-up date scheduled for the next weekend, so I determined to really impress her by leading the conversation about her favorite writer. To do so, I picked up a copy of this novel. What a let down! I was like, what the...??? This book moved slower than molasses and by the time I finally finished it I was so disappointed that I was tempted to cancel the frickin' follow-up date. Talk about hype! The only reason I didn't give it only one star is because I finished it and it's my policy not to ever give a book one star unless it was so bad that I couldn't get through it. This one is definitely not one I'd recommend to anybody, but it wasn't so horrendous that I couldn't complete it. Well, last weekend this sista and I went out again and I told her exactly how I felt about my experience and I just prepared myself to have a glass of wine thrown in my face. But like the classy girl she is, she listened to me vent and we agreed to disagree. We planned another date for next weekend and I'm thinking this one might be a keeper. She has questionable taste in books, but her taste in good brothas is looking pretty good.

Summary: Not Worth the time
Review: Once again, I was disappointed in Omar Tyree. This book was dull, pointless, the plot was a flop to me, and at the end, I was still a little confused about things that went on. There were too many ends left loose, and basically, this book was a waste of my time.
