Review: "I just finished Nathan Jorgenson's "Waiting for White Horses". A great "guy book"? Yes...probably. However, I'm a woman and I loved it! If someone had told me that an author could use duck hunting as the vehicle to carry me on such an emotional roller coaster, well I just wouldn't have believed it! I laughed, I cried, I was there! It's a great read for the girls too!

Summary: Life, love and loss.....
Review: Dr. Jorgenson captivated me with his descriptive writing. He made the north country of Minnesota come alive and I could almost feel the cold, north winds on Spider Lake, and taste the pan friend walleye served for shore lunch.
The author's approach to the people he loved and the losses he endured was touching and heart warming. I felt his pain as he searched for reason and understanding. He had me laughing out loud one minute and crying only pages later.
I would recommend this book and I hope Dr. Jorgenson writes another.

Review: Great book. couldn't put it down. Finally finished it at 4:00AM. Really funny parts and very emotional parts. Even my husband read it and he doesn't do much pleasure reading.

Summary: Move Over Garrison Keeler!
Review: I have to confess to growing up in Minnesota and cherish those memories. I also confess to having many fond and memorable hunting trips with my Dad to Otter Tail River and Zippel Bay on Lake of the Woods in Northern Minnesota. Waiting for White Horses brought back those special memories of opening day hunts shooting Mallards and Teal with my father. It brought back memories of shooting Bluebills, Redheads and an occasional Canvasback in the middle of a strong Northerly storm blowing snow and sleet and ducks with it. Thank you for so accurately describing the hunts I have been priviledged to participate in.

I laughed, cried and thoroughly enjoyed Waiting for White Horses. I highly recommend the book for the humor, insight and the wonderful wisdom it conveys.

Review: I just finished this novel a couple of weeks ago and found it to be engrossing and endearing. I can't believe how low its ranking is on Amazon. Hopefully a lot more people will find out about it and give it a read. You'll be glad you did.

Review: I was surprised, then awed by how many emotions this book stirred within me. From an entertainment perspective, a read of this book is ranks right up there with the best books, TV shows or movies I've ever seen. This book is excellent. I'll be sending to friends and family for Christmas and other occasions. Add an adventure to your life and read this book. This book won a Benjamin Franklin Award by the Publishers Marketing Association.

Review: Nathan Jorgenson has written a wonderful story that touches the feelings we all must go through in life, in love as well as sorrow. He will take you on a ride that will have you laughing out loud, and then bring a tear to your eye. Nate's decriptive prose painted a vivid picture of the north woods of Minnesota, and the narrative kept me reading much past my bedtime. I would highly recomend Waiting for White Horses for an enjoyable read.

Review: On a trip through my local library the other day, a friend urged me to read this book. She said this novel was based in Walker, MN. Oh! Did I mention that my local library is in Walker, MN? So, I checked out this book without asking what it was about or in what genre it might land. And like high flying ducks over Leech Lake, it takes a while to land. But when it does, it is a wonder to behold. It's about life. And death. And the bonds we make on our journey between the two.

Author Nathan Jorgenson has taken major artistic liberty with Walker geography. We do not have a street named "Main Street, " the main street - named Minnesota Avenue- does NOT abut the Lake and there is no such restaurant/bait shop there. Some of the characters in this firstbook lack depth and explanation. But those are small fish compared to this monster Muskie of a book. I just wish they would kill the cormorants.

Review: Rarely is there a book which will make you laugh out loud and fight back tears as well...even for guys! This book does this and so will be one of the unforgettable books that I have read and one that I will re-read in years to come. It doesn't matter if the reader is neither a hunter or fisherman...it's all about the ones we love, as the author himself has said.
