Review: Tu-Shonda Whitaker has put the ax to the grind and as a result she has penned a novel that will touch every emotion is one's body. This tale of Vera, the gold digger who is afraid of committments and love, will have you feeling empathy for a child of a teenage mother, who threw her in the trash dump, only to be given to her drug addicted grandmother and the saga continues for a child who soon becomes a ward of the state. Travel with Vera, as she lives with her infamous Aunt Cookie, witness all the drama that unfolds in her life. And last but certainly, not least, venture with her as she meets and tries to not fall in love with that "deliciously fine," doctor from the hood, Taj Bennet.
This book has tuned us into the world of children of drug addicts and the long term effects on them. Ms. Whitaker shows us the ups and downs of this type of life, thru a tale that will have you crying and laughing. Then she leaves us, wanting more, that apparently will be given to us in her upcoming sequel, Game Over. Ms. Whitaker herself, graciously greets her fans on the Triple Crown Message board, and I, personally admire her ability to pen a fantastic first novel.
Read it for your self, and treat yourself to a real treat.

Review: Tu-Shonda Whitaker is a very prolific writer who packs action, drama, and emotion in one nice neat little package. The book cover for Flip Side Of The Game is one of the best book covers I have seen in a long time. Flip Side of the Game is not your average Triple Crown Book. Tu-Shonda has written a novel packed with everyday issues--drug addiction, abandonment, and self-esteem issues. This is one Triple Crown book that does not glory the drug game. Vera Wright-Turner is one sister who will never admit to the L-Word--Love. Taj, a doctor, turns Vera's world upside down and slowly gains her trust. Taj and Vera have a story book romance until Vera messes it up. Vera is afraid to show love, receive love, and give love. Taj, becoming impatient with Vera's antics, give her a taste of her medicine by showing her--TWO CAN PLAY THAT GAME. And in this game, Vera loses because her heart belongs to Taj. Vera is also dealing with Rowanda, her drug addicted mother, who threw her in the dumpster as a newborn baby with a note "Please forgive me, my mother's only fifteen." With the help of Aunt Cookie and Taj, Vera learns that love conquers all.
