Summary: Too Long!
Review: At least one hundred pages could have been eliminated. The book was really slow at first but then it started to pick up at about page 300. I wasn't really feeling the ending. It seems like more should of come of Mi Mi and more focus should have been on her relationship with Gem.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: True Entertainment
Review: Bling! was extremely funny. I enjoyed it from cover to cover. The characters are so believable. I appreciated the enriching, but not over-the-top, vocabulary. It was well written and a perfect summertime read. Go out and buy the book. Don't let the number of pages discourage you. After reading the last page you will want more of Mimi, Lamont, and yes, Vanessa!

Summary: Bling is whats up!!!!!
Review: I am an avid book reader but have never taken the time to write a review on anything but after reading Bling I told myself I have to write something about it..This is one of the best books I have ever read (and as I mentioned I have read a whole lot). It grabbed my attention and kept it from page 1 to the very end.The characters are very realistic and grab you from the get go.I would recommend to EVERYONE to read this book right away. For this to be Erica Kennedy's first novel, she nailed it.I cannot wait to read whatever she has coming next.

Review: I am not much of a reader cause mostly makes me fall alseep casue there to long and boring, but this was a wonderful book I finished in 2 days i mean I just could not put it down it makes u learn a new side of the music and the stardom life. iIt just grabs u and dont let go till the end then u want more. I am from oklahoma (and i am black) so its not something we hear alot about and seeing celbs here. so this book it like a whole different world.but now i am bout to start on the hustler's wife by kikki turner so i cant wait. but anyone who like to hear about music people and the glam life should read this book even if u dont read books to often you will enjoy reading this book.

Summary: I can't wait for the movie
Review: I hope the success from this book spawns a movie that is just as good. I think Eva, the girl who won America's Next Top Model should play Lena. Both Christina Milian or Claudette Ortiz from City High would make a good Mimi. Boris Kojoe ( Sorry for the spelling) could play the big time Producer's brother. Any unknown could play Ally C. Mya from Girlfriends could play the Producer's ex fling. But anyhow, this book is so great. I hope you have fun deciphering what famous faces could play the characters in the book. I read all 500 and something pages in a day and a half. It was soooo interesting. The chapters are short, but sweet. Don't let the length of the book scare you at all.

Summary: A great Page Turner
Review: I loved this book! What's wrong with a book with so many pages? Who wants a good book to end so soon? I loved Mimi and Lamont together. This book was great but had a bit too many characters that I had to follow. I can't wait for your next book to come out!

Summary: Details: interesting, storyline: so-so
Review: I read this book because I find the hip-hop culture pretty fascinating. I wanted to read more about the cars, the clothes, the clubs, the houses, the crazy lifestyle, and, of course, the bling. Erica Kennedy is great with such details, and I read all about designers and clubs I've never heard of, and the great sums of money coming and going in this hip-hop industry. But the details were woven into a storyline, of course, and that aspect of the book I found not as impressive. The story is a bit unbelievable and a bit too predictable at the same time. I wasn't impressed, it could have been more engaging and enticing. It's true that this book is hard to put down, but I think that's not due to the wonderful storyline, but more should be credited to Erica Kennedy's easy-to-read writing style.

Overall, I found the book pretty interesting and easy to read, but it's definitely not one of these rare finds I'm going to urge all my friends to read.

Summary: It Is What It Is...
Review: If you like Jackie Collins' style of fictional entertainment writing (which I do), then Bling is the book for you. I have to admit that the storyline doesn't really bring anything new, you won't have a hard time figuring out what's going to happen next. I also borrowed this from the library because it's not a classic that I want on my bookshelf. With all that said, Bling is still a fun, summer read. I think the publishing timing is perfect.

Bling gives you an insider view of the music industry, hip hop in particular. In reading this, it's fun to associate some of the characters with real life celebrities. I thought it was very smart of Ms. Kennedy to drop real life celebrity references such as P-Diddy and Beyonce' just to let the readers know that this book is not entirely about them but rather a hodgepodge of hip hop and R&B artists in the industry.

At times the author will throw in words that just don't fit in the context of the book, it's like she wants us to know that she owns a dictionary. I'm all for using and learning new words but it came off as forced in this book.

Bottom line, I give the book a solid four stars just because I like reading industry tales. Miramax has already given the option to make this a movie so read the book first and hope that "Bling" won't be the next "Glitter". Happy reading!!

Summary: A splash debut
Review: Lucrative recording contracts, shopping sprees, singing stars, paparazzi, sex, and life lived on the hip-hop edge. This is what you'll find in BLING, the splashy debut by Erica Kennedy. The story centers on Mimi, a twenty-something girl from Ohio who dreams of getting a record contract. She and her singing friends travel to New York to make the dream come true. The road the Mimi travels is one she could never predict and her life changes almost instantly when she hooks up with a hip-hop producer named Lamont.

The book is filled with short chapters and the plot moves at a fast pace. BLING is a likable page-turner. It provides a fascinating glimpse of the recording industry and can provide as a textbook of sorts for those who aspire to become a part of the hip-hop industry. There are tons of characters in this book, and at times the lines are belly-aching funny. There's plenty of fresh and hip characters who all talk the latest lingo, all of which may have you think you're reading from the pages of VIBE. Most of the characters will make you try to guess the real-life counterparts because there are plenty of similarities between BLING's subplots and actual hip-hop celebrities.

The only distractions are the mountains of background information about the minor characters. These narratives somewhat diminish the action and intensity of the story, but nevertheless BLING is an out-the-box hit; it's a recommended read that should appeal to those who love urban fiction, hip-hop music, and rags to riches African-American stories.

Summary: NBAA (No Bling At All)
Review: This book is boring. I'm giving it 2 stars cause I did not buy it. I checked it out from the library. In middle of the book is sorta good. The Outro was the worst chapter in the book. Mimi is a big baby and needs to grow da hell up. She was no better than LaMont with the indiscretion. Lamont with many women and her with this Gemini. The only likeable character was Mama Jackson.
