Summary: A bootleg version of "Coldest Winter Ever"
Review: A Hustler's Wife: The title of this book immediately drew me to wanting to read the book. I love to see Black authors trying to get on their feet and get the recognition everyone wants, however, I think people need to be unique in their writing styles and stories. Although this book started off slow and childish, it begame an okay read I thought. To witness the struggles Yarni and her close friends and family went through and overcame was a joy. I loved to see her turn herself to God in the end. I think most of us get carried away in situations and forget to thank He who brings us through everything. The love story between her and Des was real and it shows that even though a woman might do her thing while her man is on the inside, she's always thinking of him first. Overall it was just a bootleg version of "The Coldest Winter Ever"

Summary: Thank You Nikki Turner,
Review: for telling an Urban tale with skill. As a bookseller and an avid reader, I am gratful to you for telling Yarnise's story. African American fiction, with the popularity of the "Coldest Winter Ever", "B-More Careful" and others, finds itself embarking on the "era" of the gritty urban street novel. Books that aren't all about upwardly mobile black people, with good jobs, nice cars, look good and just can't seem to find a man; but rather tell the tale of what life is like in the "ghetto" and the underworld that haunts many of our cities today. With this trend, many "authors" feel that "well, i sold drugs, I have been da jail, let me write a book", and it has been my experience that these efforts are TIRED, POORLY WRITTEN, and just plain HORRIBLE. That was until I read about Yarnie and Daz. I was drawn from page one to hear this story. I feel that Ms. Turner did a wonderful job of painting a picture of the choices that many young women face today. I felt that she remained true in the effort to "keep it Real", yet tell a entertaining story.
Her ability to capture the essence of a hustler's wife is what I believe sets this apart. Not since Asha Bandele's A Prisoner's Wife, has someone giving this ever growing (sad but true) population such a voice. I appauld Ms. Turner in her effort, I wish her success on her furture endeavors...

Summary: 3 and a half
Review: I liked reading this book. It was a page turner. But I did have one problem. Everything in Yarni's life was a ghetto fairy tale. When one bad thing happend something good came to get her out. I got tired of it. But it was a cute little love story.

Summary: "besides the numerous typos" It still held my attention.
Review: I love happy endings, being that i live in Richmond V.A.you rarelly find a happing ending with a drug related relationship. This book was excellent to read because i was curios about all the known spots she talked about.I't held my attention knowing the game i could really relate.I'm really not a reader but after reading this book i decided to pick up a "Project Chick" also, and that to was very interesting.I plan on reading all of her books because i love to support the "Richmond" female.I just hope i don't get frustrated like i did reading these two.In "A Hustlers Wife" there were madddddd typos.I would laugh at the thought of the azz whose job it was to proof read it "boy did he slip off".But i still chose to just read it adding or eliminating whatever words were missing or had been typed twiced.Overall if you did that then the book was great. And with "A Project Chick" it also had madddddd typos including the mix up with chapter numbers it really threw me for a loop when i could have sworn i had read chapter 19 but then it came again then it skipped to 22 then i didn't even see chapter 15, but i did see 16 twice....(lol)chapter 16 twice...chapter 19 twice then chapter 22 then chapter 21 then 22 again...lord help whomever job that was to correct that.It really threw me off.But like i say you add the missing word or take out the word that doesnt belong and then you have a great book..............KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND KEEP WRIGHTING NIKKI,....BUT PLEASE LET SOMEBODY ELSE PROOF READ TO SAVE YOU THE HUMILIATION..

Summary: Not a Bad Read
Review: I read many of the reviews for this book, so I expected it to be okay. That's what it was, it was an alright read (I read it in less than 1 day), but it was a bit unrealistic in the end. I did like this book, there weren't that many sex scene descriptions like some of the other books of this kind (True to the Game, Coldest Winter Ever). It's definitely not as good as the coldest winter because that was the realest book of this kind that I have ever read. Overall, this book did what I purchased it for, it helped me pass the time.

Summary: We all have been a hustler's wife
Review: I've read this book and finally I read something I can relate too. If u have ever been a hustler's wife, girl, babymother, the other woman, and jump off. U can relate to this book. So all u mother's raiseing young girls around this life style, please give your young daughter's advice, and not let them deal with men like this. The game is all about sex, lies, drama and at the end of the day or years, I personally came to the conclusion that is about ME,Myself, and I. Nikki Turner has wrote an amazing book that a few woman living that life today can honestly say WoW. That's me. Thank You Nikki Turner someone finally got it right.

Summary: FROM A SELF PUBLISHED AUTHOR
Review: Ms. Turner!!

I hadn't had the chance to show you some love, but I have to let the world know that your novel was the bomb! It was one of the three that inspired me to achieve my goal in life. That was becoming a self-published author. You are a very talented woman and I thank you for capturing my soul with your creativity.

Summary: Excellent!!! (A Sistah's Expression Book Club)
Review: Nikki Turner is an excellent writer. A Hustler's Wife is not your "typical street fiction" book. It is more than that. Nikki introduced several character and some how managed to complete each of their story lines from the beginning to the end. Each time you thought that you had the story figured out a new twist would occur which made you want to read more and more. She used several strong MALE and FEMALE characters. The use of promoting education regardless of your situation was excellent. The best feature was the underline religious aspect. The main character went through several situations, but in the end she was connected to her spirituality and all of her "street ways" came around for good. It was very well written!

Our Book Club (A Sistah's Expression) recently had a phone discussion with Nikki and we enjoyed her personality as much as we enjoyed reading her book. Kudos to Nikki Turner!

Summary: It Will Do
Review: Rating this book is somewhat difficult. Nikki Turner did an o.k. job to me. Now if you compare it to The Coldest Winter Ever, it is garbage. But just to read, it will do. I gave the book a 3 which is an average rating. But The Coldest Winter Ever deserves 10 stars! You can tell Nikki is familiar with the streets. Some of the events were funny and real. I was getting ready to say that her being fifteen and all she went through is unrealistic, but it isn't. Plenty of girls fall in love with men that sell drugs and go for the ride of whatever the dope game brings. That is what this book is about. A girl who falls in love with an older drug dealer and what happens in her life when he is locked up. The book is worth reading, but it has a long way to go to reach the level of Sister Souljah's book.
