Summary: AWESOME EPIC OF SURVIVAL!
Review: I just can't understand how people cannot like such a well told tale. This is so fast-paced and exciting a novel you just can't put it down. A hollywood movie should be done, but hollywood isn't smart enough to turn this such obvious better book than either Jurrassic Park or Lost World that it usually means this will never make it to the big screen. ITS JUST TOO GOOD! The family that finds itself on an island that sinks into the ocean is soo well written and action packed made me mesmerized to the pages. I immediately knew that a new author had arrived big time with a winner. I had told everybody I could about how great this novel was, and everybody who read it-loved it! The family that rides on the back of dinosaurs in the middles of the ocean with killer whales eating them! Good God people, how can you possibly put such a pulse pounding novel down?! Mr. David should and hopefully is writing another novel in this tradition - its obviously his cup of tea! A must read! If you like this novel you will definately like the new novel- SUBTERRANEAN, BY James Rollins.

Summary: An enjoyable reading about Dinosaurs
Review: I just finished reading James F. David's "Footprints of Thunder" novel. Overall, I found it pretty interesting. However, as mentioned by another reader, there may be a bit too many characters and, after a reading spread across a couple of days, the reader tends to spend some extra time remembering who's doing what in the book. Also, the story takes some time to fully deploy. The reader must wait until the final third of the book to see the story rev up and get to its full speed. The dinosaurs' feeding habit on human beings is pretty good, although I thought there were not enough human deaths...

Although there was a few inconsistencies in the scenario, it is still an enjoyable reading, and the characters' personalities are both reasonably deep and credible. This makes people regret not to see more books on dinosaurs!

Summary: An average read
Review: I liked the beginning, was bored in the middle, really enjoyed the book as it neared the end, and was dissapointed with the ending. I was also very dissapinted to find out that the book did not come close to "Lucifer's Hammer" (one of my favorite books) or "Jurassic Park." This book is good enough if you have nothing else better to read, but I wouldn't give it any awards. The plot had a chance to be very good, but the characters were thin and not very likeable. Anything involving Washington D.C. was boring. And the book ended with plenty of questions still remaining. I felt that there were way too many Dinosaur plots, when there could have been an interaction with Neanderthals or another interesting time period. Too many Dinos = overkill. Overall it was worth the price of a paperback.

Summary: An Exciting Story!
Review: I liked the premise of this story very much. This book could have actually been expanded in several areas to make for a more rich reading experience. The motivations for some of the events seemed to have been forced, which could have been helped if more time had been spent in character development. Don't get me wrong. The action and suspense scenes were very well done, but would have been better if I had gotten to know more about the characters.

The explanation of the cause of the quilt effect was interesting, but the resolution was not as satisfying as it could have been. No accountability for rash actions was forthcoming nor was there a satisfying end to the story, which was rather rushed. However, I do give it three stars based on the scenes where the dinosaurs intereacted with present day humans. I will read other works from this writer to see if the potential is fulfilled.

Summary: A super summer dinosaur read!
Review: I loved the whole story line and the characters involved. Just the idea of having a time-quilt effect bring the past(millions of years ago) exist with the present was interesting to see what consequences resulted. I loved the New York City portion of the story with the old lady and the Iguanadon, she just took the whole situation in stride with life. The author writes very descriptive of what the country looks like after the quilting happens, I was able to see the steamy jungle like swamp next to the towering New York apartments. I had a great time with this book.

Summary: Excellent book!
Review: I picked this book up at a booksigning and didn't end up reading it for a few months. When I finally got around to reading it I couldn't put it down. It is a lot more then your normal predictable novel. I was kept guessing until the end. The book was well written and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys suspense, mysteries, or science fiction. Better then Jurassic Park and WAY better then The Lost World. A great book and, hopefully, a great movie someday

Summary: a great stinking book!
Review: I read Foot Prints of Thunder in record time,I couldn't put it down! I found myself readingit at the pool! Anyway, I thought it was an interesting and exciting book about dinosaurs, And was I relieved when I read that the dinosaurs were not the result of some gene science that went wrong It was a believable book with likable characters, as well as dinosaurs, following in the footsteps of Raptor Red. I highly recomend Footprints of Thunder!

Summary: Please write a sequel!
Review: I really enjoyed this novel because of the way the dinosaurs and humans interacted (ie. not just confrontational and hostile) and the way humanity adapted to a global catatrophe. The dinosuars came across as real animals who would have been just as interested in humans as vice-versa. The human characters were believable and multi-dimensional. Who knows, or cares, if all the science and technology is correct? It's style reminded me of Jerry Pournelle and Larry Niven's "Footfall" and "Lucifer's Hammer". I contacted the author (with the email provided in my edition) shortly after reading it several years ago and asked when the sequel(s) was due, because it had the feel of a potential series, but he answered that he was busy with other projects and had no plans for a sequel at the time. Too bad, because he may have missed out on something...
