Rating: Summary: WOW! Review: I liked this book better than 'Fanny'because it seemed the author tried to create characters that were completely different. I especailly love poetry so Mrs. Stubbs easily became my favorite character. I recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: What a man! What a man! What a NOVEL! Review: I am going to put it out there and honestly say and I have read them all, Cup Of Love is the book of the year! It is no doubt in my mind that Franklin White went into another direction this time around and he definitely scores some serious points, with ME! I was amazed at how he went back to "literature" roots and at the same time kept his novel as contemporary as can be. The twists and turns were vintage just like Fed Up with the Fanny but this time more mature and displayed his growth as a writer. This book will make you think, cry and cheer, and I am glad that I read it! Can't wait to see what he does next!
Rating: Summary: Spiritual, Fanastic Look at Love and Politics Review: I recommend this book wholeheartedly. It was riveting, insipring and spiritual in every way. The book touched on the subjects of "black love", relationships, fidelity, God, politics, and issues that affect the black community from a female and male point of view. This book should inspire us to believe there is love and fulfillment for everyone.
Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK Review: I really enjoyed this book. Franklin White is an excellent writer. It didn't start off has fast has his first book "FED UP WITH THE FANNY" but it wasn't slow either. I could not put the book down. It shows that black love is still alive and that black men have a hard time when it comes to feeling real love in the heart. Can't wait until the next book comes out. Thanks Franklin White for the great work!!!!! Keep it coming.
Rating: Summary: Moving, Unpredictable, and Invigorating Review: I found Cup of Love by Franklin White to be a wonderfully well-written, engaging, and page turning follow-up to Fed Up With The Fanny. Right from the beginning Franklin White had me smiling, laughing, thinking, and reacting to the story he's written that involves many memorable and likable characters. The story simply takes you on a journey -- an almost cinematic-like journey - of love, loss, and restoration. I really enjoyed some of the character's insight, wisdom, and observations as they dealt with problems dealing with infidelity, life choices, etc. Cup of Love was also inspiring and made me ponder my own life and the way I view things. On another note, there are lots of twists and turns that I wasn't able to foresee (well, I did manage to guess one character's final behavior -- specifically, Vance's). Overall, expect Cup of Love to go beyond being a typical novel. It is an important and refreshing piece of work. Mr. White, if you're reading this, more, more, more!!!
Rating: Summary: this book let you know that there are some good men left. Review: I enjoy the relationships and how the problems where handle. Very good book.
Rating: Summary: Spiritually Moving... Review: Franklin White has done it again!! A Cup of Love is absolutely moving! The way he mixed spiritual and "worldly" issues combined in this book could make a someone think twice. Once I started reading Cup of Love, I started feeling myself within the book. The issues between Vance and Artise is something I'm sure all can relate too. Oh, but let's not forget about Ethan. We all know someone like him. I didn't like his character too much in the beginning but when those babies died, I really felt for him. Even the issue's between Artise and her Mother was real. I think this book is especially important because it also leaves a spritual impact on those who believe. The bible verses, prayer quotes all kept us on our toes. I give all praise for Franklin White because not many authors can "flip" their writing styles like that. (compared to Fed Up With The Fanny.) I can't wait to see what he has lined up next... Excellent...!
Rating: Summary: captivating Review: I found the book very interesting, it kept me reading. I finished the book in three days, because I was always left anticipating the next scene. I must say the ending also threw me for a loop, but I was a little disappointed because I was looking for a little more detail in the conclusion. It seems that it was rushed, unless, we should expect a sequel. Overall, I was very quite pleased.
Rating: Summary: This "CUP OF LOVE" definitely runnith over! Review: Here is a successfully plotted novel that combines the issues of relationships with the spiritual overtones placed to give the book a more based feeling and a slice of reality for good measure. Follow the often broken relationship of Vance and Artise to see if they can go the distance love has set in front of them, moreso, if Vance can fight the temptations offered by other females. Watch if Tassha can forgive Ethan's running out on their relationship and his return during her romance with a highly-regarded public official. Add the evil Ronald Tenner, the grounded Stubblefield couple, Casey and Kyle, the secondary, yet important players in this drama, and you have one soap opera on your hands. Excellent second offering, Mr. White!
Rating: Summary: Why would anyone give this five stars? Review: Franklin is now one of my favorite authors. He has it all in this book. Relationship issues and very thoughtful issues that keeps the book moving along. I think Mr. Stubblefield was an excellent character along with his wife. I also enjoyed Vance,Ethan and what they had to go through in order to really become men.
