Rating: Summary: Interesting Reading Review: All the while I am reading this book, I am thinking who can be that desparate for friends and a relationship?Amber at least by appearances has it going on. She is beautiful, she is a graduate student and she has just gotten rid of 200+ pounds of excess baggage ala Tyler. She takes up a relationship with David the good looking neighbor. Knowing the relationship is not right, she continues to see this man. For me, it was just getting worse, he would stand her up, she would excuse him, he would do something else, she would excuse him. Can she really be that hard up. Then there is Che, her supposedly best and only friend. I rather be alone than to have Che as my friend. Amber also excuses all the wrong Che does to her. But, there is Malik who could bring some excitement to Amber life, if she would let him. Amber frustrated me throughout most of the book, but the climax at the end pushed this novel into a 4 star rating.
Rating: Summary: HORRIBLE Review: Dippin in My Spoon could have really been a good book but it was written all wrong for my taste of writing I would not reccomend this book to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Fast, Easy Read Review: Dippin' is a fast read that tells the story of Amber LeReaux and her relationships with her best friend Che, her husband Tyler, her next-door neighbor and workout buddy David, and Malik, a college student she meets at a club. Amber is a graduate student in the psychology field in an unhappy marriage in which her husband seems more preoccupied with watching television than with her. Unexpectantly David comes into her life and he's right there sliding into position to say all the things that Amber needs and wants to hear. The problem with this is that he's also married and not quite what he seems. And, then there's Che, the typical preacher's daughter who seemed more like an enemy than a friend. Lastly, there was Malik....something about him just makes me smile. The book goes from scene to scene showing Amber's inability to discern true friendship from reality as she slowly comes to the realization that a lot of the people in her life aren't what they seem. She seems to take things in stride and accept the punches that are thrown at her without much question or debate. The near-ending comes totally unexpected and will leave you wondering what's going to happen next, yet it teaches the lesson that we must always go inside ourselves to find the truth. Now, personally, I would've been giving some beat-downs, but I loved some of the interactions with the characters. Yet, I found Amber's attitude (acceptance of things) a bit ironic because of her field of study. One would have expected her to be a bit more in tune to what was going on around her and have folks pegged, yet she seemed oblivious to everything as she battled her own demons and worked on being HER instead of who and what everyone else wanted her to be. The end result? Amber comes to terms with her shortcomings, with her relationships, and in the end, she goes deep inside herself and comes out with a keener sense of HER!
Rating: Summary: Things are not always as they seem ! Review: Dippin' My Spoon was a fast moving and enjoyable read ! Once I started reading it I found it hard to put down ! I think Amber learned some valuable lessons ! Things are not always as they seem ! I wondered if it was possible for Amber and Tyler to get it together again but soon found out it was not so ! Especially after what he did to her that would have been hard to go back to ! I was glad he finally got his life together and moved on ! David was a bad choice I could soon see thru him and wondered if the love she had for him was really that blind ! I was hoping Amber would finally wake up to see thru his lies there were just to many!It was apparent after a while he was not the one ! He had to many lies and secrets not willing to share ! I was not to sure about Malk been the one either, even though I thought he was a very good friend to Amaber ! Which brings me to Che' she was certainly not the friend Amber thought she was and I wondered why it took her so long to see her for what she was ! I really would have liked to have see more of Amber and Malik's relationship ! He was guiding her to the right road ! Was it love or a guilty feeling for Amber ! I guess not knowing what happened in the four years makes it hard to really know ! Being on the outside looking in I could not see it !
Rating: Summary: Quick read. Review: Dippin' My Spoon was a good read. Man on man, Amber was dealing with a lot of negative people in her life. Early on I was questioning when was she going to clean up her life? Tyler was a slob of a husband. David was the crazy neighbor (boyfriend) who kept lying over and over to Amber and she continued to turn to the other cheek. And the bestfriend Che'. Who needs a friend like her? Malik was the only positive person in Amber's life. I was cheering for Amber when she finally woke up. The end was a shock. Nina, I wish you the best. Be Blessed.
Rating: Summary: Waste of time Review: I am so glad that I borrowed this book from the library instead of buying it. This was one of the worse books that I have ever read. I want to applaud Nina Foxx for writing and having her book published but I swear this book was terrible. The main character, Amber, was a psychologist but she was so dippy and I felt that she had such a damsel in distress attitude. Why was she so dependent on a man? Her husband did her wrong and the man she got with was married so you know he couldn't have been about nothing. Her best friend was a trip. Why WAS she still friends with Che? There were so many unanswered questions like what happened when Tyler came back into town? Why was someone so smart doing so many dumb things? What was the deal with all of the women hitting on her? If she was so close to her family why didn't she talk more about the stuff going on in her life? What was the deal with the color thing? For an educated woman Amber was really, really ignorant. I love AA fiction but this book seemed to be poorly thought out, rushed towards the end and just all over the place. Don't waste your time.

Rating: Summary: HOW NAIVE!!?? Review: I BOUGHT THIS BOOK BECAUSE OF THE TITLE AND WHAT SEEMED TO BE GOOD REVIEWS. THE MAIN CHARATER, AMBER WAS TRULY A DISSAPOINTMENT. I CAN'T BELIEVE SHE COUNSELED OTHER PEOPLE. THE MEN IN HER LIFE WERE SO OBVIOUS, HOW AS A COUNSELOR SHE COULD NOT SEE THESE UNHEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS SHE WAS IN? CHE WAS ANOTHER, WITH A "FRIEND" LIKE THAT...WHO NEEDS ENEMIES. I WAITED AND WAITED FOR THIS BOOK TO GO SOMEWHERE BUT IT LEFT ME HANGIN'. THE DIPPIN' SPOON HERE IS A PLASTIC ONE. THIS IS NOT A GOOD READ UNLESS YOU LIKE TO SEE SOMEONE MAKE THE WRONG CHIOCES OVER AND OVER WITH NO PRODUCTIVE END RESULT.
Rating: Summary: drop the book, put your hands up, and back away slowly Review: I couldn't wait to finish this book. This book just went ON AND ON AND ON. I couldn't wait until this book was finished before writing a review. PLEASE IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY READ THIS BOOK, LEAVE IN ON THE SHELF AND "NEVER" THINK ABOUT PURCHASING IT. I majored in psychology and the character (Amber) was an industrial psychology graduate. I'm not claiming that this is the "perfect" field, and that people in this field are "perfect", but we aren't the STUPIDEST people in the world. Amber ... me off to the highest level "....". I have never in my life seen someone so naive and just plain D-U-M-B. Everything that happened to Amber deserved to happen. She allowed herself to be played by a married "man"; that lied about not being with is wife. She allowed herself to be played by her husband, who was a control freak. But who can blame him, most people will use and abuse a person if they don't speak up for themselves. And she allowed herself to be played by her "friend" Che. Come on now, what was that all about? Why would you continue to be friends with a lesbian that keeps coming on to you if that makes you uncomfortable? Why would you continue to be "friends" with someone if they had nothing but negative remarks to make about you and to you? Why would you continue to let yourself be mentally abused in that way? Why did I get the feeling that Amber enjoyed these little mind games that Che was playing with her? I'll tell you why she did, BECAUSE SHE WAS DUMB! I'm trying my best to finish this book to see if it will prove me wrong. I doubt it though; it would take a miracle to pull that off. With it's naive character"S" and typos and grammatical errors this book should have stayed where it would have done greater use (A THOUGHT/MEMORY.) It would have been better if it was still on the tree; no need in using paper to write such garbage! I was highly disappointed in this book Mrs. Foxx. It came highly recommended. Oh well, that's what I get for thinking. Next time use a different publisher (preferably one that can spell), and try a different concept.
Rating: Summary: Dippin'My spoon Review: I did not see how the title relates with the story. The story would have been more interesting, if the characters were developed a little more. The book really did not flow and the typos, really threw me off.
