Summary: Full of surprises!
Review: During the first few chapters I said to myself, "Oh, no! Not another novel about a desperate single woman!" The tale of a reluctant singleton well on its way to a predictable ending. But even I could be wrong once in a while. This novel has the essentials of taking the reader to one direction and then lets us know that there is a moral to the story after all. There were various hilarious moments -- like the hyperactive cop and the incident at the adult store, etc. -- that made me laugh out loud several times. This is not what you may call an original chick lit. After all, it has the Bridget Jones-esque get-togethers with friends to discuss relationships (or lack thereof) over drinks and the serial dating a la The Trials of Tiffany Trott -- but those are the essential elements that make a chick lit fun to read. I highly recommend it.

Summary: lacking creativity
Review: Granted, the market is currently oversaturated with books on single women and 20-30 somethings, but that is all the more reason to expect a twist to go with this catchy title.
I found this book disapointing at best. It did not provoke a reader's "high" with a creative or developing storyline. The ending was so predictable within the first 20 pages, that the rest of the book was on autopilot. If I hadn't paid for the book I wouldn't have finished it.

Summary: Not as good as I had hoped, but still a satisfying read!
Review: I am a big fan of the Red Dress Ink books, so I was very excited when Dating Without Novocaine was released. Unfortunately, I didn't find it to be as good quality as the first 3 Red Dress Ink books. I didn't think that Hannah was as likable as Tracey in Slightly Single or Jane in See Jane Date. She and her friends were a little too crude for my liking and she showed some homophobic tendencies, which I found offensive. Also, this book had a surprising amount of typos and grammatical errors. But, as you can see, I gave this book 3 stars, because I did end up enjoying it a lot. Most of Hannah's bad dates were very funny, and her friendships and family experiences were extremely touching and realistic!

Summary: A Portland Perspective
Review: I bought this book because when I read the back, I was delighted to find it set in Portland, Oregon. As a native Portlander, it's so much fun to find books set in our quirky little city. Lisa Cach does a great job describing Portland. At one point she describes a fountain in a mall downtown and I knew exactly what fountain she was talking about(I've been to it many times) and it really made me feel like part of the story. Even if you don't live in Portland, I think you'll enjoy this story. My one complaint was that it was a little predictable and I could have continued reading about how Hannah and Scott turned out. Overall, a fun read!

Summary: Lots of fun
Review: I bought this book looking for a light, funny read, and it delivered. Hannah, the main character, is a "mistress of the seam" (i.e., a seamstress), who is looking for love in all of the wrong places. Her missteps are hilarious, and they keep the action moving along. Hannah's search for Mr. Man in a Million includes her three friends, all with dating woes of their own. The development of Hannah and her relationship with her friends is terrific. Some of the dialogue is simply priceless, and it had me laughing out loud.
Ms. Cach has written a few romances, but this book is definately planted in the real world, and Hannah has real world problems and real world sex. My only quibble with the book is that it was a little predictable.
I sincerely hope Ms. Cach has plans to write more books like this one.

Summary: Awful
Review: I checked this book out from my local library after getting an Amazon recommendation. Let me first say that I am glad I didn't waste my money buying this so-called novel. I really did try to give this one a go. I read up to chapter seven, after Hannah's first Starbuck's meeting with Wade, but could not force myself to read on. I absolutely had no feeling for any of the characters and the writing seemed to be on middle school level. I haven't read any of the other Red Dress Ink books, but I'm hoping this one is just a fluke and that the other novels are more engaging.

Don't waste your time on this one. If you like this genre, try Lisa Jewel, Marian Keyes or Jane Green instead.

Summary: Fun, down to earth
Review: I disagree with the negative reviews of this book. I've read several Red Dress Ink books, and I thought that this was one of the most down to earth of the ones that I've read. I also thought that it was nice to finally read about someone who wasn't involved in publishing or advertising (like the protagonists in most of the other Red Dress Ink novels). Hannah, the main character, runs her own tailoring business. It's about time that they showed a woman running her own show! I do wish that Lisa Cach elaborated on this aspect a bit more. Overall, though, it was heartwarming.

Summary: Sooooooooooo predictable!!
Review: I got as far as page 25 and realized I knew who would end up with whom. I was so irritated I checked the last couple of pages (something I've never done in my life- honestly) and sure enough, I was right. Also, the writing is too contrived. The main character, Hannah, attempted humor in virtually everything she said. Emphasis on "attempted."

Summary: A blast...the best one yet!
Review: I have been reading these Red Dress Ink books in the order in which they were published, so with Dating Without Novocaine only being my 4th one, I'm not sure if this statement holds merit or not, but it is my absolute favorite one so far! The writing seemed more intelligent, and the subject matter was more realistic to me. I am so pleased with it, I am now looking forward to many more contemporary novels by Lisa Cach.

As usual, this story is your typical single-girl-looking-for-love saga. Twenty-nine-year-old Hannah O'Dowd is determined to meet the man of her dreams before her 30th birthday. However, with only four months left to go, the prospects are getting very slim. So with the support of her circle of friends, Hannah kicks her plan into high gear and embarks on a dating whirlwind -- with some very hilarious results.

Sound like a cut-out of all the other single-girl books? It is for the most part; however, Lisa Cach has went one further step. Dating Without Novocaine has a special something -- a bright splash of red in the middle of a white wall -- that separates it from the rest. I thoroughly enjoyed the story, and despite its predictability, loved turning the pages to see how it would unfold. Hannah has a wonderful web of friends that help keep this story afloat, and Lisa Cach has done a fantastic job of fleshing each one to practically 3D-like proportions. A romantic, realistic romp of a read -- don't miss it!

Summary: Average
Review: I have made a point of reading all of the Red Dress Ink books in this series. The lastest, Dating without Novacaine is a harmless little ditty of love and friendship.

Although I did enjoy the ove3rall book, I thought the storyline of girls going through guys (never the one!) right up to the ending (saw it coming from page 1) was average, in other words boring.

Not a bad read, but could have been much better.
