Rating: Summary: An amazing book, funny and sexy! Review: I picked this book up and was not sure if I wanted to read another "chic" book, but the cover looked interesting and the title was hard to pass up, so I bought it, I was so delighted that it was such a great book. The book is about Madison Greenwood and pals Leo and Sugar, the book revolves around love, life and Christmas, yes I said Christams. Maddy is looking for Mr. Right and seems to find him right before Christmas, but Mr. Right always (well not always) turns out to be Mr. Wrong. The book is funny and heartwarming, with characters that you will remember long after the last page. For anyone that wants a good and sexy book that has humor this is the book for you. I am looking forward to the next book Carly Alexander writes, can't be soon enough!
Rating: Summary: Winter's Tale with Heart Review: I was browsing for a Christmas book that has warmth, fun, but not a lot of cornball stuff (like recipes for Christmas martinis -- please!) I picked up GHOSTS OF BOYFRIENDS PAST and enjoyed Madison's tale from cover to cover. I love the little snippets about Madison's different careers (and men) as well as the sagas of her friends. If you're looking for an entertaining read that will lift your spirits, this is the one!
Rating: Summary: A Fun and Hilariously Refreshing Read! Review: I was captivated by Ghosts of Boyfriends Past finishing it off in a mere few days! A fun, sexy, easy read that will have you laughing out loud and packing your bags to head to the Big Apple! I enjoyed every second of it and am looking forward to much more of Carly Alexander's wonderful sense of style and humor!

Rating: Summary: Christmas chicklit Review: It's Christmas in Mahattan and Madison is is her thirties, hanging out with friends and remembering the boyfriends she had on previous Christmases and why they turned out not to be Mr. Right. That's about it for plot (well one of the exes returns and guess what happens). Anything with such a slight plot depends on good characterization, sparkling dialog and great writing but I wouldn't put Alexannder in the great category. There are nice contrasting descriptions of New York and San Francisco scenes (visual and social)and of her group of friends. Sex and Christmas ornaments and food are lovingly described. (She drinks horrible mixtures of booze). There's a faint suggestion that her problems are due to her unsatisfactory and uncommunicating, workaholic father. He is poorly drawn. He's a cardiac surgeon but we're never given any detail. A recurrent (too recurrent) gag is that his beeper keeps going off but nobody says whether a child's life needs to be saved or a heart transplanted. When he has lunch with his literary daughter he studies up on some books (current bestsellers, the ignorant slob) but she doesn't bother learning about his job. He dies off stage of cancer, but we are not told of what kind, or how he reacted to it. Anyway, let me not be Scrooge, and Carly Alexander had fabulous reviews on her Christmas list. It's mild, light, sexy, moderately funny entertainment with a few patches of (God bless us every one) great writing.
Rating: Summary: Smart and Sassy and Fun Review: Madison's tale into reliving her boyfriend mistakes is a light hearted and enjoyable read. The book spans the 10 years of Madison's life since she graduated college. And her 2 major relationships, 2 major job changes, and the 3rd chapter in her life, her 3rd job and trying to find the one.
Being a woman, I could relate to her relationship mishaps and desire to find the one. We all hope that we have him, and her imagination just goes to extremes with the men. It's funny to look at a character and see a little piece of myself in her.
This book had a quirky cast of characters, but some of the minor ones were under developed. But I enjoyed every moment Madison spent being consoled by her friends and consoling in return.
Don't we all have moments of when our past relationships come back to haunt us at the most horrible times?
Rating: Summary: Truly enjoyable Review: Since I teach English and read heavy books most of the year, I picked this up & was truly delighted with the humor. Great, relaxing read.
Rating: Summary: Horrible Review: There was no character development in this book's heroine and she wasn't even likeable to begin with. Her life revolves around sex and alcohol, alcohol and sex. You don't find yourself rooting for her that she'll find Mr. Right. I enjoyed one character in this book- Leo. Nothing in this book was worthwhile - all the characters are constantly drinking, going to parties, and having sex. One wishes they would find something more worthwhile to do.
