Rating: Summary: Look out for those dotted "I's". Review: A phycopath, who is controlled by a 'superior being', unleashes his reign of terror at a metro station killing dozens on New Year's Eve '99. He threatens to continue the carnage every four hours unless the city pay him $20m. And so begins a race against time with the FBI desperately trying to establish the whereabouts of the Digger with the only bit of evidence being the ransom note.Interesting facts emerge regarding paper, ink and handwriting analysis, especially those dotted "I's"! This book has great plots, believable characters, excellent research and surprise endings upon endings. Just when you think the book is drawing to a conclusion, JD throws another plot within a plot your way. The pace is great, a highly recommended read.
Rating: Summary: A little improbable, but keeps your attention Review: While this book does a great job of keeping you on the edge of your seat and is definitely hard to put down, a few of the plot twists were simply too hard for me to believe. The characters were fairly well developed for a book of this length. There were just far too many things that I was expected to buy into as a result of writer fiat that I found totally unbelievable.
Rating: Summary: Deaver Delivers Review: Jeffrey Deaver delivers another chiller thriller in "The Devils Teardrop". Imagine yourself partying on New Years Eve of the new millenium in Washington, D.C.....suddenly bursts of bullets hammer everyone & everything around you. Who could be doing these horrid acts every 4 hours and why? Enter Parker Kincaid and Margaret Lukas. Along with an elite hand picked team, these two experts are fighting multiple "dead"-lines by the Digger. I thouroughly enjoyed this book. I liked the intricate character developments. Especially between Parker, a model father, and Lukas, an introspective woman fighting her own demons. And the title? Clever. After learning so much about handwriting analysis....I always watch for dotted "i's". As I anxiously thumbed each page,I kept thinking, "Ah-Hah! Thats it!". Wrong. Riddles abound. Read it & hold on devishly tight! other reading suggestions: "Bag of Bones" by Stephen King , "Messiah" by Boris Starling"....
Rating: Summary: Great summer novel! Review: Deaver's latest thriller, this one about an expert in forensics who specializes in documents, that is called out of retirement by the FBI to help them stop a killer. The killer, named "The Digger," has been ordered by a man to shoot as many people as he can in public places every four hours or until the city pays him a ransom. The good news is the guy in charge gets killed crossing the street. The bad news is, the guy he convinced to do the shooting is crazy and simple-minded and doesn't know his boss is dead. Things get ugly. Nice cameo appearance from Lincoln Rhymes, the main character of another Deaver series, also a forensics expert. This was everything Deaver's other books have been -- suspenseful, well-written, and full of interesting people.
Rating: Summary: Great Review: This is book is very good and thrilling. This is 3rd favorite Deaver right behind The Empty Chair and the Coffin Dancer. I really recommend this for non stop excitement and a very surprising twist at the end of the book. Also has very likeable characters and even Lincoln Rhyme makes a guest appearance in this book. Very good read.
Rating: Summary: A suspensful read that you can't put down! Review: I have read all of the Lincoln Rhyme series by Deaver, and this book was a fresh deviation from that theme. Deaver is a master, especially, in Devil's teardrop, of twisting the plot to keep you guessing. It takes a lot to surprise me in a book, and I found mysellf stopping to say Oh my god! a couple of times while reading. If you are into suspense books, then this book is a must. Everyone I have recommended it to have not been disappointed!
Rating: Summary: Good but... Review: While the forensic aspect was fascinating, it took almost three quarters of the book before I could understand the main characters. More background on these characters would have mand me care more about them early in the book. Is the book worth a read? Yes, the plot twist at the end is worth it and by the end, you will care for the hero(s) in the story.
Rating: Summary: Deaver Rules the List in Suspense! Review: Another wonderful novel by Jeffery. His best two are The Empty Chair and this one! Keep up the great work Jeffery. Maybe there will be another movie like The Bone Collector!
Rating: Summary: Time Well Spent Review: Wow! This book really impressed me. As a frequent reader of crime and investigation novels I thought I had seen it all, but this novel changed my mind quickly. The plot of the story is well thought out and, I thought, realistic. The characters are vivid and multi-dimensional. The plot twists are fabulous and the action is amazing. I was fascinated to learn about the work done by document examiners--a field about which I know very little. The technical information was not over my head at all, something I find very respectable in an author. Read this book!
Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: Deavers developement of stories was amazingly authentic and the subplots tieed in perfectly with the main one. The digger was a perfectly developed vilian and the plot twists made this a truly amazing book
