Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: You've got to be kidding. Review: This is the worst book I've ever read. I was very disappointed because I was expecting something as good as Bridget Jones but instead got a book that was not funny or, in anyway, believable. The characters were so incredibly annoying that I had trouble even finishing the book. Ms. Fielding's first book should have remained unpublished in the US.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Better than BJD Review: It has been a year after reading the BJD books before reading this one, as I thought it might not be as interesting and fun. I must say Cause Celeb has more depth than the other two books, it got me thinking about how the difficult it is for the refugees to just to survive and how these camps might be like. Really enjoyed it cos it has a thinking (or sort of) and an independent heroine, instead of the seemingly forever dependent-on-men Bridget (though I like BJD too). Rosie is more realistic and knows her mind, whereas Bridget just seem too unreal and self-absorbed. There just one thing about cause celeb that I am unsatisfied-------Rosie's new relationship. It was not mentioned much unlike the Darcy-Jones relationship in BJD. Hmm, was just hoping for more. On the whole, this is a more touching and deeper book.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A MUST READ!!... Review: This is a must read book for the people in Washington who want to go to war. It would give them a better perspective on what happens to refugees and what the refugee camp leaders need to do. I found this book charming and sad at the same time. I also learned to have a lot more respect for the people who do go and help, and work at the refugee camps around the world. I also liked Rosie. It took a lot of guts for her to walk away from Oliver, and her glitzy life in London and start all over again in Africa, and learn to deal with the trials and tribulations of running a refugee camp. Just as in life everywhere, Cause Celeb points out the politics and hoops refugee camp leaders have to jump through just to get food to hungry people.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: An excellent book Review: This is an excellent book. The characters are well done, and the scenes in Africa make you feel like you are really there. As someone who once considered making a similar life change, this gave me a small taste of what it may have been like. If you like Bridget Jones but crave more substance in the story line, this is the book for you.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: It's not what i have expected from Fielding Review: The book is a bit disappointing. A bit of inconsistency in the actions of the story' heroine. The part that describes Africa's refugee camp is more or less fine but still is a boring thing to read...I wouldn't recommend buying this book and if you think it's written in the BJ manner - you are wrong. Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: So Good! Review: I have to agree with the reviewer who called "Cause Celeb" an incredible surprise. I was unsure what to expect after having read the Bridget Jones books, but I was very happy to read a funny, engaging, and touching novel with a heroine to root for. If you like Bridget you will like this book. It is wonderful. Bridget fans will not be disappointed!
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Fun summer reading Review: As others have noted, this book isn't "Bridget Jones," but the main character shares some of her characteristics. Like Bridget, Rosie is a flighty English gal who tends to fall for the wrong guy. In "Cause Celeb," however, the title character engages in more redeeming pursuits as well -- namely staving off famine in a fictional African country with the help of the wrong guy and his celebrity cohorts. Using this backdrop, Fielding writes a witty, entertaining tale. Take this book to the beach and enjoy.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Harder to read than BJ but more rewarding Review: There are big warnings that this is not a BJ book, and whoever missed those has no one to blame but herself. That's exactly what you should expect - not a BJ book. I was finally relieved to see the heroine shed her BJ ways, although not completely convincingly. What was very convincing was the depiction of the camp, starvation, bureaucracy-ridden organizations; Fielding did obviously plenty of research.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: What a pleasant surprise! Review: I loved Bridget Jones and Edge of Reason, but this is my favorite of the three. This book is a fascinating study of how anyone, even those assumed to be shallow, can give up their comfort for a life of service. I never expected this from Fielding.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Meandering and slow Review: I really enjoyed the fast pace and wit of the BJD books. Cause Celeb has none of the charm or pace of her later novels. I nearly put it down many times, and after finishing it, I really wish I hadn't wasted my time.
