Summary: Great!
Review: I enjoyed this book a lot. It deals with a young woman about to get married. She receives a present of a strange mirror. The mirror has powers and shows strange things. The mirror causes the girl to switch bodies with her grandmother, transporting her soul back in time about 70 years to her grandmother's 20 year old body.

Anyone who had read Michael Moorcock's "Behold the Man" or has seen the Twilight Zone episode where an Elvis impersonator goes back in time to look for Elvis can guess what happens next. Mainly the young girl is forced to live out the life of the grandmother based on what she knows about the grandmother and thus creating the grandmother. What makes this book so good is that it returns to the present and we see the grandmother living out her life in the body of the granddaughter. The author does a marvelous job of showing us the present time through the eyes of someone from the past. It makes us want to re-examine our own lives for wonders we took for granted.

Summary: I too, read this book a long time ago and it dissappeard
Review: It is by far the most magical book I've ever read. How can it not be with it eliciting the same responce from so many people.
I never thought I'd find it again, but it has never, never left my mind. My heart is beating so fast right now at the thought that I get to read it again and I can hardly wait!

Summary: THE MIRROR
Review: I didn't read all the reviews here but I did read a good many and agree with all of the "BEST BOOK I EVER READ" comment. I join in that evaluation. Another thing I had in common with a lot of readers was that my copy disappeared while letting friends read it. A friend found another one at a used book store for me. I am so happy to see it back in print again. I too wish there was a sequal.

Summary: the absolute best time travel story of all time
Review: a must read for fans of Diana Gabaldon. I can't praise this book enough. Great characters, great story, I only regret the lack of a sequel!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Thought provoking
Review: One of my favorite books of all-time is called "Replay". I purchased "The Mirror" since many people who had read Replay had also read this one.

It is an interesting twist on time-travel, and I found the story very engaging. My only complaint is that there was an inconsistency in the plot, which made the time-travel dates not work out quite right. This bothered me to the point where I was even mapping out characters and dates to see if perhaps I had missed something.

However, if you won't get too caught up in the details, it is an enjoyable story. It made me reflect on the immense adaptability and inner strength present in people when they need to call upon it.

Summary: So glad others can read and enjoy this book!
Review: The Mirror by Marlys Millhiser is one of the most intriguing books I have ever read. I for one am very glad this book is back in print so that others can discover this gifted author. Her writing is superb and she certainly knows her craft. She keeps the reader interested until the very last word. How I wish she would write a sequel to The Mirror so we could see how the characters have fared.

Summary: The Best
Review: I first read this novel around the time it was released originally. Both of my children, who were teenagers at the time, also read it. Somehow over the years, it was loaned out and never returned. For years we have discussed it and always referred to it as "The Book". We all agreed it was the best we ever read. I recently purchased it from Amazon and just reread it. It has lost none of the original magic. I still consider it my all-time favorite novel.

Summary: So happy to have found this book again
Review: Like many of the other reviewers, I had been searching for this book for years. I read it as a teenager and now as a 35-year-old, I can hardly wait to read it again! The characters and the story have stayed with me all of this time. I can't think of another book (and I've read many) that has affected me and burned itself in my memory as The Mirror has.

Summary: FINALLY FOUND ONE
Review: I had a copy of the book (THE MIRROR) for several years, but somehow in the last year or so it is missing. I've checked the library and they no longer have a copy....... I am so happy to have found a copy. I ordered it last night and even though I know it will be here in a week or so, I WANT IT NOW!! What a wonderful story. I wish Ms. Millhiser's newer books had the same flavor of her books from 20+ years ago. I'm excited about getting to read the book again for what will be the umpteenth time.
