Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: An OUTSTANDING book Review: In the late 80's, while overseas in the Marines, a friend told me about the series and it grabbed my interest. When we got back to the states I bought the first book from the PX. I read it in 1 day and was hooked. I went back to the PX and bought every other book in the series they had availible and it still took me another three years to complete the collection. I found the first book to be an enthralling read that I just couldn't put down. Casca is just a common soldier and anyone who has been in the military, especially the infantry, can really relate to Casca. When Casca takes Dr. Goldberg back to that day on Golgotha, it's like you go back with him. The book draws you in and holds on to you. You can't help but feel for Casca as he goes thru the ages and falls in love knowing that he will have to move on eventually. Forever fighting and never knowing peace. A page turner if there ever was one. I highly recomend this book and any others in the series.

Myself being a soldier, I can identify with this series of books. Recommended to me by a fellow NCO, I went to the trouble of finding the first five books and read them in five nights. I will find the rest an read them. Incredibly gripping and accurate detail. I recommend them to any military history buff. I enjoyed the first five immensely.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Casca the Eternal Mercenary Review: One of the best books I've ever read. Sadler's knowledge of History is amazing. Too bad Sadler caught a bullet in Central America in the mid 80's.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: this is a great book, written by a great soldier Review: The book is great on its own. But is superb as the begining of a well researched and thought out series. I have the whole series except this one, which was lost. I am in the process of searching for this book right now. I hope the new author can do Mr. Sadler and Casca justice.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: one of the best series Review: The Casca series was one of the best I have ever read. I have just started reading the first book for the third time.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Loved it Review: The first excellent book in an excellent series. Like any great work it seems to end too soon, especially in this case because of Mr. Sadler's premature death. He should live as long as his character Casca in order to keep writing these books. But we should also feel lucky he didn't die sooner, such as in 'Nam -- then there would have never been any Casca books. Unfortunately some of the later books in the series are uneven in quality, presumably owing to Sadler's deteriorating condition. He was certainly a great writing talent and great historian. Casca is my favorite fictional series.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: a real marathon reading Review: The hours of pleasant reading it has given me is not something you'll find in any book. I did not only find it being interesting for the story, but aswell for the history lesson the books provide. I guess mr. Sadler would not have been able to finish the story anyway...since Casca was waiting for "the jew" to return. So putten in few well chosen words: I have never found better reading ever before. HIGHLY RECOMENDED!!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Excellent, a must read Review: There's no doubt Barry Sadler had a real hit here when he first put pen to paper and created Casca, a character born out of a real man from the bible, and made him an immortal to travel through time forever fighting. I won't repeat the comments on other reviews, just look at the average star rating and judge for yourself. Brilliant, innovative, enthralling.
