Summary: Kat's Review
Review: Tully, the namesake of the book, is a woman who seems to have been born underneath a large, pregnant rain cloud and every time she manages to slowly move from underneath it, it swells further and she is back in the rain where she began. Tully and her mother were abandoned by Tully's father and throughout her childhood she has to deal with her mother's constant verbal and physical abuse not to mention downright neglect. Her mother is not the only family member to abuse her though. She knows no concept of love or friendship until one day playing on her own she meets Jennifer and Julie who, along with their families, show Tully the support and kindness previously absent from her life. The bond of friendship is forged but puberty puts strain on the threesome's relationship. A tragedy occurs leaving everyone reeling- most of all the silent Tully. The book follows Tully into young adulthood where finally away from her mother she struggles to find meaning in life and in Topeka. For Tully, adulthood is plagued with the same dark cloud and she is faced with an unhappy marriage to her first boyfriend and motherhood. Then an old face in the form of Jack, Jennifer's first love, returns only to confuse and complicate her situation. The story is told by an omniscient narrator that concentrates solely on Tully and how she deals with experiences and the people around her, giving the reader an objective view of the character. That is what I enjoyed about Tully, she was far from perfect; she questioned her decisions constantly and at times she was selfish and grudging. There were various parts of the books when she was so alone that I could feel the flat, vast, sun-parched plains of Topeka right outside my window. What makes "Tully" so accessible is that Tully and the other characters display emotions such as loneliness, confusion and betrayal in situations that the reader can identify with. With the ability to make one laugh and then cry a chapter later, this emotional saga comes highly recommended.

Summary: Tully... An exploration of life
Review: This book is the best I've ever read. The life of Tully and the troubles she went through shows the stregnth a woman can have. She lost a lot but still was able to survive and make a life that she could claim as her own. I would recommend this book to any budding psychologist or to any woman who thinks their life is tough

Summary: Unbelievably Addicting!
Review: Tully was such an amazing book. I have read it 3 times already and eager to start from page 1 all over again. Her life was filled with so much emotion that you can't help getting caught up in all of it. I laughed and I cried. I got angry and disappointed. Tully brought me back to my childhood, missing it and at times, wishing I could still be there. Her love life, chaotic as it was, had me heartbroken for the guys. I just wanted to jump into the book and tell her what I would have done. It's hard to put the book down once you get started. When I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about it. I just wanted more and more and more. I can't imagine another book to be as captivating as this one. My only desire and suggestion is that this book be made into a movie. If this is not possible, then there should be a Tully II. I just don't want to see it end here.

Summary: Where can i find another book like this?!
Review: Tully is an amazingly powerful book.It is extremely moving, thought provoking and compelling to the point where you find yourself actually on Sunset Court,at St.Marks or painting 1501 Texas street!Tully is a girl who grows into a young woman taking her baggage with her whether she likes it or not.You find yourself angry, sympathetic, frustrated and upset with tully yet despite all this you cannot help but love her.She is such an intricate character that she really comes to life.Having read some previous reviews i cannot understand how people considered the characters one dimensional! This book captures the essence of all kinds of relationships and is a must read whether you like this kind of fiction or not.My only criticism would be that it is too short! Its a real shame red leaves and eleven hours dont do paullina simons justice because tully shows she is capable of telling a uniquely beautiful story.Nothing i have read before or since is comparable.

Summary: Siobhan, 20, Excellent - I can't get Tully out of my head!
Review: I found Tully in a cheap bookshop and thought why not give it a a read. That was 2 days ago and I have just finished reading it. It is definitley the most beautiful story I have ever read, I really feel as though Tully is real. An inspirational read, I laughed and cried all the way through - Does anyone know what I mean when I say that I didn't want the story to end? The story highlights the true value of love and friendship and the power that they hold in the face of adversity.

Summary: AARGHHH!!
Review: To be honest I havn't even finished this book yet but couldn't wait to put my 2 cents in. What a frustrating read! I'm glad I didn't pay good money for this book. Tully doesn't deserve the love of three (!) good men as she treats them terribly; she has the gall to feel indignation when she finds out her husband has been cheating on her - what did she expect; that he's been at the library every Saturday night - come on! The characters are truly one dimensional and I cannot understand the depth of relationship between the men and Tully - so much so that I do not care whether she stays in Topeka or goes to CA. Just wish she'd make up her mind and stop wasting everyone's time. If I knew a Tully in real life I don't think I'd choose to be her friend. I'd recommend her a good shrink instead.

Summary: God What A Depressing Book
Review: There was one reviewer who said if you want to feel utterly frustrated with a character...read this book. I couldn't agree more. The book, while it did keep my attention, was EXTREMEMLY depressing. The story of an unbelievably selfish woman who just destroys people's lives. The people she destroys are utterly co-dependent on her. Just as you think finally something positive would happen...bam...there she goes again. An drawn out, very disappointing ending. I don't even want to resell this book...I just want to throw it out. The only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of one was because I DID finish it.

Summary: wonderful book
Review: I saw this book in a used bookstore and bought it because of it's length (I love thick books). It did not disappoint. Although Tully's childhood is heartbreaking and the way she handles her adult relationships is saddening, you never find yourself angry with her. The urge to flip to the last page to find out if Tully does or does not find happiness is overwhelming. A great book whose characters you think about long after you read the last page.

Summary: A Tremendously Good Read That Keeps You Thinking
Review: Tully was the first novel for Paullina Simons, and what a great job she did for a first timer. It was a true-to-life story tugging constantly at my heartstrings, as it kept me entralled with it's magnetic storyline as well as it's wonderfully complicated characters. Tully Makker lived through an enormously tough life playing her cards the only way she knew, seeing that she had been dealt such a terribly rotten hand. Tully felt to me like an old friend or sister and when I had finished thebook , I missed her so much.....even now. All avid readers should try this one............it won't let you down. Thank you Ms.Simons for a tremendously good read.
