Summary: Bob Foofoo's constructive review corner
Review: On my native planet of Mars, we do not have Opera Houses. Instead, we are forced to listen to red rocks as we tumble them down a hill. It was nice to have an example of entertainment on your planet. HOWEVER, YOU MIGHT SAY THAT OUR MUSIC WAS THE ORIGINAL ROCK AND ROLL. I liked the character of the Phantom, because the way he was described, he sounded like me (facially, that is). I don't believe that I have ever introduced myself to you, but everyone over here says that I'm really good looking. I have a lot of dental floss. This is good because I have five hundred teeth. Try counting them, you won't get very far. The last time I went to the dentist, I WAS THERE FOR THREE DAYS hahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Good book

Summary: A must have classic
Review: If you like an older style of writing, you'll like Phantom of the Opera. This is a classic drama with interesting characters and settings. You should definitely go back and read the book that started the movies, and the amazing Broadway musicale.

Summary: A Harsh Reality, Beautifully Written
Review: Generally speaking, I prefer Marlowe, Shakespeare, and Dickens. But this is one French work that offers rare and exquisite beauty. I find it very interesting that the story starts with mere rumors of the phantom. Later, we start to see actual things happen. Later, Christina tells Raoul of her meeting with the phantom. Finally, we see the phantom himself. I must commend Leroux on the grace in which he maintains a standard narration style for the most part, but then has the Persian handle the narration at the appropriate time. To this day, I have never been able to forget how the Persian turns from a seemingly insignificant character, to a very important character. Nor have I been able to forget how Leroux handles the phantom. First he is merely mentioned. Then he is a chilling and terrifying creature. Finally, he becomes very human and VERY sympathetic. His death silenced me for days. Interestingly, the phantom is not as unreal as we might think. There are some men who may have very many wonderful points. But they are simply cursed as far as being able to establish relations with women. While the phantom's disfigured face certainly makes the story more memorable, I am not sure it was crucial. If you like this book, the one video tape I can recommend is an animated version that is found in the children's section. YES! It is hard to believe. But with all the versions out, the most accurate version is the animated one in the children's section!

Summary: Erik is dead
Review: "Erik is dead," you must be thinking, "What in the world?" Well its better then "the angel cried". Hint one it's no angel, a living corps crying is more believable, and it happens. The phantom/ghost/angel of the opera is a good book. After spending three months trying to piece together the story from the C.D. Plus the piano music I decided to go and get the whole story. I have to say that the forward and introduction are a little boring, but filled with facts that help involve the reader (you) in the story. The book starts out slow, but picks up and becomes very interesting. The story takes place in a famous opera house that is thought to be haunted. Through much complicated and confusing trials, the main character Raoul tries to discover what his childhood friend and true love is doing when she disappears inside the vast building. As he gets closer to the truth the plot unfolds. This book contains everything from deception, love, torture to humorous moments and uncanny coincidences. I thought that it was going to be a chore to get through this book, but it turned out to be quite interesting. I loved this book it was well written and very captivating. I am constantly listening to the C.D or playing the music, and enjoy it greatly. This book was not only n my head while reading it but everywhere else I went to. "It was the voice of the monster!" Actually it was my mom calling me to get up, but sometimes I think she can act like a monster. Well it was a good book, good story, good plot, not a good bedtime story, but as they sometimes say "it's not over till the fat lady sings" well here it's not over till page 366 but then you can sing if you want to.

Summary: Erik, poor Erik!
Review: This is the best book ever written. The classic tale of the monster who loves but is not loved may even be better than Romeo and Juliet. Of course, there's no gaurantee that you'll come out of this as totally obsessed with Phantom as I am. i do promise that you'll be crying by the end!

Summary: Awesome book!
Review: This book was AWESOME! I'm up for mystery-typed stuff and it's one of the best classics I've read! Of course, as usual, the beginning started out boring, but it caught my interest fast as the plot grew. OF course, ERIK was my fav character... he's a murderer, yes, but he has this sort of.. childlike 'aura' that made me not feel angry at what he did, but feel compassion for him and a bit of justification for his action. yeah, that's a little crazy, but it's true! I kinda wish that Erik had been real! I'd listened to him ::snicker::

Summary: Magnificent!
Review: I just started this novel Monday night and read it through until Tuesday morning! It grips your attention so tightly that, even at the point of exhaustion, you must read on. No novel has ever touched me as this one has. It is a tragic and romantic masterpiece, and definitely worth reading.

Summary: A Masterpiece!
Review: This is the best book I have ever read. When I started reading it, I couldn't put it down! I read the entire book in 2 hours! Afterwards, I am now a major phan of both the novel and the musical. It takes you on so many emotional turns that you can't help feeling sorry for the Phantom, after all, he was a genius and couldn't be accepted into society only for one fact: he was ugly. It makes you feel like the events in the story were true, because it is so well written, He describes every character so that you can see their point of veiw in the story. Wonderful!
