Summary: I could read this book over and over again.
Review: Love, murder, obsession, and opera are what you'll fine in this story. The young and beautiful Christine Daae wishes nothing more then to be the best singer she can be. The "ghost" Eric gives Christine what she want's. To give her the leading part in the opera Eric scares the star so much she losses her voice. Being the under study Christine gets the part. Then Christine gets a blast from the past her childhood friend Raoul shows up at the opera. The two of them enjoy there time together before Eric gets mad. With the help of Raoul Christine frees herself from the hand of the Phantom.

Summary: One of the best classic thrillers.
Review: Wow! This is an amazing book. I love classic books and music-- this one certainly encompasses it all for me. Erik is such a tragic, brilliant figure and the way Leroux has Christine controlled by three seperate forces at once (Erik, Raoul, her father) is such brilliant writing. The reporter-style and emotionally-charged style of the book will keep you turning pages! If you loved the musical (like I do) or even if you *didn't* like it, you have *got* to read this book!

Summary: Very descriptive, with a short but great story plot!
Review: I found the book intersting and very descriptive. The phantom has so many secrets but some things I didn't quite understand but I really liked it. A nice quick read.

Summary: A longing to be loved turned murderous obsession
Review: This is an absolutely incredible novel. It tells Erik's amazing story. For those who think they know the story because they have seen the play, you are wrong. Gaston Leroux shows you many sides of Erik. He's a raging killer, a total genious, and a real person. He longs to be loved and falls deeply and obsessibly in love with the young sopranno Christine Daae. The story which unfolds is a truely touching one. As you read, at times you will hate this monster, at times you'll feel pity for the poor fool, and at times you'll wish he could just find the love which he so badly wants. This is an excellent novel -- read it!!

Summary: A Haunting Tale by One of the Greatest Writers EVER!!!!!!!!
Review: I read this almost immediately after I saw the Lloyd-Webber play. I was astounded and haunted. The way Leroux writes, how he portrays not only the cold-blooded murderer side of Erik but the human side that needed to be loved, simply floored me. I wish that more of his books were available to the public, since only this book and his Mystery in the Yellow Room are presently available. I hope Amazon gets hold of them soon!!!! This book also goes very well with Susan Kays book Phantom, which gives a more complete background of Erik. If you like The Phantom of the Opera, read Phantom!!!!!

Summary: This piece of art gives enchanting insight to Erik's soul.
Review: I have read this book twice and both times I could not put it down. Love, Tragedy, murder, heartbreak, is what Erik went through! I did a term paper on this book which really made me think about the insight that Leroux had into the mind of a lost and lonley mad-man in love (i got an A on the paper too). For all you Phantom Phans out there, please read this tale of mystery and true love!

Summary: A true classic and a benifit too one's soul to read.
Review: I suspected no movie or even the play had done justice to the 'Phantom of the Opera'. But after reading the book I now know just how much of and injustice was done. The book is filled with characters that waste no time in comeing to life in the readings minds. The plot is such that I was not able to put it down and read the book in just two sittings. So intranced the reader becomes the you are with Raul and Christian as they play about the halls of the Opera house. You are there within the dark dowls of the opera, traped with Christian, fighting alongside Raul and the Persian, Hateing the Phantom and then weeping with him when he discovers how one truly loves. Such an experiance is it, that when you finish and close the book you will fill a lose such a story had to end

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: cool! murder, romance, adventure...
Review: If you love murder mysteries, you'll love this book! read it! awesome

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Pick it up... you won't be able to put it down!
Review: This must be the best book I've read in a while. Once I started it, I was cut off from this world. The plot is simple yet really entertaining. It doesn't state too many extra details and doesn't tell a few different stories at once like many other books. I am a person who often needs to reread some sentences again and again before I get them, but this one went almost completely smoothly. It must be considered a classic. Once I started reading it I was so enthralled that I felt like all the characters at one point in the book. It's kinda spooky, but not as much as many other books, just enough to make you continue reading. Please excuse the spelling, it is very late at night.
