Rating: Summary: Wow! Tracy was something! Review: I thought that the book was great. I enjoyed reading about teenage life in the eighties. It makes me wish I lived through the whole eighties era. She was really grown-actin' startin at thirteen in which she lost "it" to sorry-ass Victor. Anyway, I think that she could have waited and she realizes that now. A lot of people who go through that do. The book really inspired me to stay in my pants and wait. She really had a "life" and she lived it up. It's a good black book for black people, maybe a few other people, but it was made for the soul. That's my review.

Rating: Summary: a great book! Review: I believe it was a great book, even though i was not born back in the 70's i was close to there any way i believe girls my age is sort of like that, there not dumb there just immature and some just have to learn the lesson for their selves so let them be them so i think it was a great book and i would like to read another book from omar tyree, but the sequel to flyy girl is stupid it doesnt add up to the first part.
Rating: Summary: Enjoyable Review: This is one of my favorite books. I've probably read like a thousand times seriously. This a coming of age story (is there a trend in my reading?) of an African-American girl, Tracy Ellison. Tracy is one of those girls who used what she has to get what she wants. She knows how to manipulate situations to her advantage. Along the way, though, Tracy learns some very valuable lessons about life. This was such a cute book. There are many serious themes, but a lot of the things Tracey went through I can remember going through with my own friends. In fact, Tracy reminds me of one of my best friends, Nikki. This books revolves a lot around young sexuality and the love of material things. Tracy grows up feeling jealous and sorry for her friend Raheema who has no interest in boys and wants to make something of her life. Tracey however does mature and learn that there are more things to live than material things. Tyree did an excellent job of making me love and hate Tracy. His prose was realistic, and a lot of the vernacular he used was true. Excellent story.
Rating: Summary: Good Enough Review: This was the first book I read from the author. I'll give him another read definitly. This book was alright it was just unnecessarily long. It had a great deal of characters. I enjoyed the book because it reminded me of how I acted at that age. I was happy Tracy did realize the path she was going down and changed before it was to late. The book was good that the author did not make the parents out to be crackheads or drug dealers.
Rating: Summary: Took me back Review: This book took me back to the eighties when we had the flyy gear and the big earrings and everyone wanted to be like the people on BET and MTV. This a wonderful read. I loved it.
Rating: Summary: High school drama and Immature trauma. Review: This is a great book for those girls who look at themselves in the mirror and ask... "Am I pretty? Does S/he Love me?" It sets the attention to a girl that learned a lot about the distinction of lust/love and the nature of what it's like to be in High School Hell. From the Locker halls to the Classrooms... to the drama fights, you'll like this book. Once you read it, you'll want to read it again.
Rating: Summary: A Philly Girl Review: Philly Girls don't mess around and this book defintly shows that,I would recommend all girls around the ages 13 to 21 read this book because it shows you what people will think about you if you do certin things that your mother may not approve of i rank this book a five because it's a very descriptive book and it kept my interest.
Rating: Summary: A young girl in flight Review: This is a coming of age story during the 80's baby! I liked that part, and how he described the gear we use to sport! Just hearing the title and thinking about the song makes me want to go hang out how we did in "my day!" LOL Dang am I that old! Tracy, the main character is as superficial as they come. She enjoys a twist of her newfound freedom since her parents separate and she has gone from hating guys, to loving them! She's all about fashion, and guys, nothing else seems to matter. It's a nice story maybe for younger girls and their moms in case you'll forgot what it was like. It was very detailed and honestly that got boring to me! I did like that she finally matured past being all engrossed in her looks, her gear, and her jealousy. Flat-backing is not how a real woman gets on ladies!
