Rating: Summary: Fkyy Girl is a reader for everyone Review: This book needs to be read by all young black woman and men. It deals with relationships of young and old. Young people can see that life in the fast lane can be changed for the better if they are willing to listen and learn. Parents can see this book as a wake up call that yes! our children are going through these things and we need to keep lines of communication open and be there for our loved ones. I liked the fact that Tracy's parents stayed into her business and made it a point of knowing what she was up to. It also deals with adult relationships and that there is no quick answer to a perfect one.
Rating: Summary: This is the best book I've ever read!!! Review: When I went to the bookstore in November of 1996 I never expected to find a book that was better than any of Terri MacMillan's. I read Flyy Girl in one day, and I loved it. To this day I still find myself picking it up and reading it over and over again. I even passed it on to my friends. They all loved it. Even though it was set in the eighties, my friends and I could relate to everything Tracy was going through. Being a teenager in the ninties isn't an easy task, but it helps to know that there is someone out there who remembers that being a teenager in any decade is a hard thing to be. Much props to Omar Tyree for giving Tracy and Victor life.
Rating: Summary: I learned alot from this novel Review: Being a child of the 80's I was shocked to read that some of those flyy girls were not as flyy as I thought. Tyree did a wonderful job , being a native Philadelphian I was happy to see one of our own make it!
Rating: Summary: Flyy girl needs a little more wind beneath her wings! Review: I enjoyed reading this book, although it was somewhat disappointing. The major disappoint revolved around the relationship (or lack thereof) between Tracy's parents, and her mother's lacksicasical parenting style. It is hard to imagine having a 14 or 15 year-old daughter come home with expensive gifts, and the mother not investigate and eventually put an end to the activity. Also, how could Patti allow her estranged husband to come and go for a period of 9 years? Regardless of who is footing the bills, that made no sense in my mind at all. Other than, I enjoyed watching Tracy grow and mature!!
Rating: Summary: The best page-turner I've read in years. Review: Move over Terry, Omar is coming your way. Flyy Girl was one of the best books that I've read in years. As an avid reader of 3 books per month, I've read some of everything by some of everybody and Omar captured my attention and never let go. This book, which chronicles the life of a young Black girl, highlights many of the turnmoils that are real-life trials faced by today's Black youth. The characters were so real that I casted the book into a movie by the time I was done.
MORE MORE MORE Omar!
Rating: Summary: Flyy Girl is a necessity for growing teenage girls Review: Flyy Girl is an extremely good book! it tells of a young lady, "Tracey" coming of age in urban america.
I really could relate to this young lady. It is a good book to give to teen girls age 14 and up. It let's you know that looks, power ,and money cannot
get you everything in life!
Rating: Summary: The Best Book I Have Read !!!!! Review: Well what can I say Flyy Girl is the book to have once you start it you just wont be able to put it back down. I think flyy girl is a book that every girl should read. Even though tracy was a fast girl she learned many lessons. While reading the book i felt like i was in it with her it felt like i really knew all the charaters.I really enjoyed the book and hope that every girl gets a chance to read it. ~Ariel
Rating: Summary: My Fav Book Review: This has to be my favorite book, the way that Omar Tyree had the characters you can picture them vividly. I can see Tracy in some tight jeans juss chillen at the mall- something I can easily relate to. Its not everyday that you can find a realistic book about teenage sex and juss life without it telling you to not have sex and to do work. Its the real life. I seriously could not put the book down, I stayed up till about 3 some nights just reading the book- because i couldn't sleep without knowing what happened with Trac and Victor, or Tracy and Timmy (i think thats the green eyed boy's name) All the male characters were gorgeous and just stayed in your mind. The best book for me- five stars easily. Omar Tyree should write like this again!!!
Rating: Summary: He needs to visit his past Review: My girlfriend is an Omar Tyree fan and I recently was exposed to one of his books and absoluted HATED it. Flyy Girl was different, though. By my lady's urging, I read her copy of Flyy Girl to give my view of this brotha as a writer another chance. And she was right; this one was much, much better. My opinion is that Mr. Tyree should take a visit to his past and remember whatever it was that used to inspire his writing. Whatever it was, he needs to go back to it because Flyy Girl is the work of a gifted writer. I'm still not a fan, but I had to give the man his props on this one.
Rating: Summary: One of the greatest book ever Review: I read this books in 3 days flat, and usally i HATE to read. I loved every second of it. Its really hard to explain to me its one of those have to read it your self kind of things. Once you get it you cant put it down!.
