Rating: Summary: A Book for Young Adults Review: I found it very hard to read this book. I do not recommend it for the average adult reader, nor the average teenage reader. It also had too much cursing for my tastes. I am hoping that Mr. Tyree's other novels are written more on the adult level.
Rating: Summary: Splendid revisit to the 80's... Review: Tyree, in writing Flyy Girl, also writes an impromptu parenting guide. The events are factual and they are being repeated today. Tyree has produced a well-written account of a teenaged girl aching for attention and love. I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Too much Profanity! All black people do not curse like this! Review: I loved the ending... I hated the beginning. I had a hard time getting through all the cursing. I think the profanity made it a lot harder to appreciate the words and groove of this book. Omar...I enjoyed your book...but please...stop the profanity!
Rating: Summary: Flyy Girl is da bomb Review: Flyy Girl is definitely a book worth reading. I'm 21 years old and reading Flyy Girl just made me reflect on the times when I was growing up. I think every black woman today, knew a girl just like or very similar to Tracey or Rasheema(personally, I saw myself as Rasheema). In any case, if any black female want to read a book to reminisce on how it was back in the day, read this book. Or for people who wants to know how it was growing up in the 80's from a black women's perspective, this is the book to read. Good job, Omar....for a man! Naw just kidding.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful story of self love, self respect and coming of age Review: I thought this work was one of the best I have ever read! Tyree does a wonderful job of allowing the main charater, Tracey, to grow in self love. He allows the reader to remember the days of materialism, vanity, sexual confusion and the time of awakening. I would recommend this book to anyone who asked!
Rating: Summary: The Book Is Off The Hook! Review: I love "Fly Girl" this is my favorite book to read I just can't stop reading it.Please make a Fly Girl 2 about how tracy is when she gets older and how her life is.
Rating: Summary: FLYY GIRL is a necessity to every black teen female Review: Flyy Girl has been read by myself and all of my friends over a dozen times. I am a 16 yr.old female and the book took me somewhere no other book has ever took me. I felt as if Tracy,Raheema,Carmen,Jantel,Victor,Bruce, and Cash wre all my friends. The book covers all subjects and takes you into 1980's Germantown and keeps you there until the last page. It is a MUST READ!!!!
Rating: Summary: The BEST rating =10 Review: This book is really interesting and it tells u a lot about some teenagers life. there are some nasty parts here and there but it makes it interesting!
Rating: Summary: Explores the trials of being a young black teenager today. Review: Flyy Girl skillfully examines the trials that young black Americans face. Through character developement and realistic scenarios, we are better able to understand how hard it is for young blacks to live "right" in today's society. Flyy Girl gives readers an insight into the internal struggles of young black people as they contemplate the promise of easy money and fast living. Reccommended for teenagers on up; especially for adults trying to understand their children.
Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK; ENDING COULD BE BETTER Review: THIS IS THE FIRST OMAR TYREE BOOK I'VE READ AND I LOVED IT. IT WAS EXCITING AND REAL. BUT THE ENDING WAS SORT OF WEAK. BUT I LOVED THAT NOT EVERYONE LIVED HAPPLY EVER AFTER. I RECOMMENDED IT TO A LOT OF MY FRIENDS, BUT I WOULN'T RECOMEND IT FOR ANY ONE UNDER 13 DUE TO A SLEW OF GRATUITOUS SEX AND PROFANITY. OVERALL THIS BOOK WAS REALLY GOOD.
