Rating: Summary: Oh memories Review: This book brought back so many memories that I had laugh. I saw so much of who I used to be although i didn't leave that stage until much later than Tracy. As a junior high school teacher I see my kids for what they are and where they are headed. I recommend this book to any parent of a teenaged daughter and for all teenage girls.
Rating: Summary: Teen Sisters Need To Read This Book Review: I wish my niece had have read this book before she went through the teen stage. She would have understood some of life's tough situations and how to handel them a bit better. I am going to make sure the rest of my nieces read this book, I though it was excellent and Ms. Tracey was a pretty lucky little lady with all the ups and downs she went through in this book. Keep writing these great books.
Rating: Summary: A REALITY CHECK!! Review: FLYY GIRL WAS A EASY READ. IT TOOK ME BACK TO THE EARLY EIGHTIES WITH THE DISCUSSION OF THE HAIRSTYLES, THE MUSIC, AND THE CLOTHES. EVEN SOME OF THE SAYINGS THE AUTHOR USED IN THE BOOK WAS RELATIVE TO THE THINGS THAT TOOK PLACE IN THE EARLY EIGHTIES. THE BOOK TOUCHED HOME WHEN IT TALKED OF THE PRESSURE FELT BY RAY RAY TO COMFORM TO THE "NORM" (WHAT TRACY AND CARMEN THOUGHT WAS NORMAL). IT WAS REAL, IT WAS THE WAY PEER PRESSURE WORKED. NEVERTHELESS, I WAS PROUD OF TRACY FOR THE ADVICE THAT SHE GAVE TO RAY-RAY ON THE SUBJECT. IT EVEN GOT REALLY PERSONAL WHEN IT TOUCHED ON THE TOPIC OF YOUNG MEN IN JAIL AND BLACK ON BLACK CRIME. I THROUGHLY ENJOYED THE BOOK AND HAVE RECOMMENDED IT TO THE NEW BOOK CLUB THAT I HAVE JOINED. HOWEVER, THE BOOK DID "HIT STRAIGHT FROM THE HIP" IT TOLD IT LIKE IT WAS! IT PUT IT ALL RIGHT OUT THERE IN FRONT OF YOU. OMAR COULD HAVE USED A LITTLE BIT OF TACT INSTEAD OF USING SEX AS TRACY'S ANSWER TO EVERYTHING. I HAVE ALSO BEGAN TO READ THE BOOK "A DO RIGHT MAN", SO FAR IT IS JUST AS GOOD AS "FLYY GIRL". GOOD JOB OMAR.
Rating: Summary: A MUST READ FOR A TEEN :) Review: This Was A THOROUGH Book. I Read It Once And I Had To Read It Again; It Was Calling Me Telling Me "You Know This Is True To You". I Really Enjoyed This Book And Hope There Will Be Another Part To It With Tracy And Victor Getting Together And Omar You Do The Rest You Are Much Better At It :) I Would Enjoy A Movie Too It Will Give Me A Full Effect Of The Book In My Mind. I Think That Every Teen-aged Girl Should Read This Book. I Won't Tell Anything About It But Tell You It Is A Must Read For The Youth Of Today Who Might Need A Little Help With Coming Of Age. (true virgo like Tracy) Read It Yourself And You Will Get A Full Understanding Of What I Mean>>> email and tell me what you think about it!!!
Rating: Summary: This book is definitely worth a young, black woman's time. Review: I believe if you are a mother of a teenage girl or a teenager yourself, this book will interest you. It will probably cause the mother to gain a few extra gray hairs, but the truth lies within Omar Tyree's story. As for the teenager, she can learn a few tools about how boys or men around their age think and how they will do anything to retrieve a female's most precious asset. Remember ladies, this book was written by a man, therefore it comes from a man's point of view. If you are in your 20's or older, read it and remember your teenage years.
Rating: Summary: Could be better Review: As a reader I totally understand what Tyree was shooting, for. However, he did not aim correctly. This lacked character development and Tyree can do better than this. But A Do Right Man was slammin'
Rating: Summary: It was the Bomb!!! Review: Mr. Tyree, you have out did yourself with Tracy. It seems as if you told my whole life in certain situations. But you made it real and I liked that. I loved it. Tracy went through changes in her young life but came out on top despite the consequences of many decisions. Great!!
Rating: Summary: I THINK FLY GIRL IS A GREAT BOOK FOR ANYONE TO READ Review: OMAR TYREE DOES A GREAT JOB AT DEPICTING SPECIFIC ASPECTS OF TEENAGE LIFE. TYREE SHOWS READERS HOW CHILDREN LEARN ABOUT LOVE AND RELATIONSHIPS THROUGH THE EXAMPLES SET BEFORE THEM BY PARENTS. HE ALSO EXPLORES ISSUSES OF TEEN SEXUALITY AND EXAMINES REASONS WHY SOME YOUNG PEOPLE TEND TO BECOME PROMISCIOUS AND OTHERS CHOOSE TO WAIT. TWO THUMBS UP FOR OMAR TYREE AND THE NOVEL FLYY GIRL. TRULY A GREAT READ.
Rating: Summary: Sofa King good (Get it ) Review: WE thought this book was reallY DA BOMB! WE have read it twice already and we plan on getting other books and the sequel to FLYY GIRL. WE Even chose to do a REport on the author Omar Tyree. This book was very true in some ways because people really act like that. (ghetto).
Rating: Summary: Must Read for Teen Girls Review: As a social worker for teen mothers, I found Tracy's life to similar to those of the girls in my program. They are hot in the pants, self-centered, and trying too hard to be popular. I think if the girls in my program and other girls can read this book to see what happens when you spend your life in the fast lane, they will slow down. I also loved his other books
