Rating: Summary: Omar Tyree is a real-life writer, but allows you to imagine. Review: "Flyy Girl is a great book for any age person. This book allows you to know and comprehend the real world but also allows you to use your imagination to become the character: Tracy and feel, see, and touch what she has. He reminds me of Shenska Jackson author of: Lil' Mama's Rules and Caught up in the Rapture." KEEP ON WRITING SO I CAN KEEP ON READING GREAT BOOKS!!!!"
Rating: Summary: ~ I LOVE THIS BOOK~ Review: I love this book. It's so true to life and I can totally relate to it. I grow up in Chicago...and this type of stuff is what I deal with. I can't find many books that makes it feel as if i'm a character in the book and i'm looking down on Tracy. You watch her grow up and transform into a woman and I like the whole concept. This book is good as hell and I love it...I wish there were more books that we're about inner city life!
Rating: Summary: I think this is a very great book for teens today. Review: My cousin wanted me to read this book so bad and I told her to bring it over and when I began to read it I couidn't never stop because it was well written and a nice catchy opener.I also think it really relates to what's happening today. Keep up the good work Omar and god bless you.
Rating: Summary: A Book For All Ages Review: I loved this book. I was on a business trip and needed something to keep my mind occupied on the plane, needless to say I was using every moment I could during the meetings to finish reading it. It brought a lot of memories back and I do mean alot from the Boogie Boys to gold necklaces. You go Omar, that's one for "The Black Timecapsule".
Rating: Summary: This is a perfect book for a teenage growing up to fast. Review: I would just like to say to Omar Tyree that your book was wonderful. I am a 16 year old who loves to read. Flyy Girl was the perfect book for me because I can relate. Keep up the good work and God Bless.
Rating: Summary: Omar Tyree does an excellent job in his debut novel. Review: I went into the bookstore looking for books to read this summer. The cover of this book caught my attention. At first, the novel starts out slow and I didn't think I would enjoy it. However, I was soon unable to put the book down. Having been a teenager during the late 80's, I was able to relate to Tracy and her experiences. Although Tyree's writing becomes a bit tedious with his constant explanations of terms and phrases, this book is definitely worth reading. For young adult readers, especially young African American women, this book proves to be an excellent choice in helping readers understand the importance of family, friends, and the struggle from adolescence to adulthood.
Rating: Summary: I thought this was a good book Review: I am a 14 year old girl who lives in Philadelphia, and after reading this book I can relate to it so much.I thought instead of exploiting the Black community Omar Tyree made you understand why the young people talk the way they do and act the way they do.It was filled with funny situations and sad ones.I read the book in two days, and the people who I have talked to have read it in less time than that.So I really think that kids my age should pick this up and read it.
Rating: Summary: The best book availabe right now on teenage relationships Review: Omar Tyree magnificently depicts the life of African-Americans and what we go through in relationships and other aspects of growing up. If somebody cannot relate to this book or writes bad comments, then you know that they were never cool in high school and has led a sheltered life. One of the best teenage books written in a while. Everybody I know in Philly will tell you that the lifestyles shown in the book are replicas of the everyday teenager. Its art imitating life.
Rating: Summary: A book you can read a thousand times! Review: Fyll girl is a book you can read over and over again! I love this book. I sugessted this book to ALL of my friends. I read this book more than 5 times and NEVER got tired of it. As a teenager I sometimes go through the things Tracy went through. I can really relate to Tracy, growing up in the East New York part of Brooklyn. I really have to thank Omar for writing a phat book.Keep doing what you do.!
