Summary: Not my cup of tea
Review: The biggest disappointment for me was the fact that within this story the characters never transitioned into adulthood. I could have dealt with the bad choices made by this young teenage girl IF there was a redeeming ending. Many adults may not find this book entertaining because we can't relate - what adult wants to read about the sexual escapades of a teenager? And I wouldn't reccommend that teenage girls read it either...because there is no moral lesson to be learned.

I did enjoy another book by this author: A DO RIGHT MAN. That was more my speed - the characters were actually grown ups!

Summary: Excellent Coming of Age Black Novel
Review: Omar Tyree certainly surprised me with this one. A friend of mine suggested I read some of his works. I too, picked up the book not knowing what to expect. Honestly, I was alittle concerned because the title just sounds like something a woman would write. Not a man. So I was interested in what he had to write from a woman's point of view, considering he's not one himself. Anyhow, the book was so good, that right before I finshed the last chapter, I rushed to the book store to buy "A Do Right Man" so I'd have something of his to read right after I finished "Flyy Girl." The book made me ponder over my earlier years as a young girl and made me reflect upon the choices I made and the relationships I endured. I had only wished the book was out then. Maybe I would have avoided some of the things that I did in the past. I have a younger sister who is around 16 and I will definitely be passing this book along to her. Any woman regardless of her age can definitely learn something from this novel. Oh yeah, the last part of the book moved me. I literally was in tears. I am expecting "A Do Right Man" to be equally as good....Two thumbs up, OMAR!

Summary: Fly story about an around-the-way girl . . . . .
Review: When I first saw Fly Girl, I wasn't sure what to expect. I thought it would be a wannabe Waiting to Exhale type book. I decided to finally read it after hearing about it from my girls . . . it was great. It was not only deep, it was funny. Tracy's trials and tribulations will keep you reading. The ending is expected yet unexpected. I could not put the book down. CAUTION: Don't read this book before bedtime . . . you'll have a really tough time putting it down to go to sleep. : )

Review: THE BOOK FLYY GIRL IS GREAT BOOK,AND SHOULD BE MADE AN URBAN CLASSIC.OMAR TYREE SHINES WITH THIS TALE ABOUT A YOUNG WOMAN NAMED TRACY WHO GROWS FROM A FLYY GIRL TO A STRONG BLACK WOMAN.

Summary: A Timeless Urban Classic!
Review: Flyy Girl by Omar Tyree is an outstanding example of literature. Tyree has done a wonderful job in telling this tale. The main character's experiences are an example of the many complexities that our young people go through today. This is a book the succeeds in telling the truth about life and what some "little urban girls" go through. As for those "critics" who made negative comments about this work, I must say this. Although I do respect what you had to say, I wonder if some of you were living under a rock during the eighties. Problems like those presented by Tyree are real and still happen today! Instead of attacking this book try taking time to look at today's youth. You may learn something as well as broaded your views. I commend all of you that saw the true essence of this book. I especially would like to say thank you to anyone who would encourage a young person (especially a girl) to read this work. This book is realistic and yes people who lead lives like Tracy's can turn their lives around and become strong women! Keep writing Omar. Some of us are getting the message!

Summary: LOVED IT!
Review: ABSOLUTELY MUST READ for those of you growing up in the '80s. The characters in this book book were so real, they could have been writing it themselves. I was very surprised that a male writer could depict females so accurately. The best part is that it really makes you remember back when... I've read a lot of books, but this is one I'll never forget!

Summary: FLLLLLYYYYYYYYY Girl
Review: Do you all remember the song! Well the book is even better. Being a child of the eighties I was able to relate to the book. It was a very inviting story and many young women and men of this time period should be able to reminisce to how thing were back in the day. I think the book was a little bit too sexual at times, but I do know of many females with that posess that attitude then and now.. Overall I think the book is excellent and definitely feel that you should read it.
