Rating: Summary: Tha Best Book Eva!!!!!!!!!!! Review: Everyone should read this book. It deals with real life situations and has some of the same things that go on in my neighborhood. I would recommend this book to anyone!
Rating: Summary: Enjoyable Review: I enjoyed reading the book, but I must say that Omar Tyree could have left out the definitions of the slang used. Anyone reading this book should know what those words mean. He also did a lot in describing characters that were only around for that one sentence. Could have left that out also. But, overall, I enjoyed reading this book. It was very interesting and could show young girls the route not to take in life and with the boys. It would have been nice for Tracy to have paid some consequences for her actions, however. It does let you know that although you think your child would never do some of those things, you as a parent must think again and be more involved with your children and their friends.
Rating: Summary: This is a book teens & adults can relate to Review: I think this book is an excellent choice to pick up for an adult as well as your teenage daugther. This book relates to the early eighties and what young people thought was flyy back in the day. The book is about a young girl who lives in philly growing up. She goes through a lot of stages in her life that are similar to what young people go through today. She a beautiful young girl in the fast lanes but something will slow here down to show her that the route she going everything will only end up being twice as worse. So if you are looking for a book that is entertaining and have u wondering what will happen next this book is definitely the one. And once u finish reading it pass it on to your mother or daugther and I betcha after the both of you read it you two will have a long dicusssion over it.
Rating: Summary: Flyy Girl Review: I thought this was one of the best books that I have read! I could not put it down! I am currently reading For the Love of Money and it is also great. I love Omar Tyree's books and will continure to read them. I think that I enjoyed it because the time setting was a time that I can remember as child. The way that the character's talked, placed a vivid image in my mind of how guys talked to girls in that period! It was great.
Rating: Summary: Its your decision... Review: As I sat and read through most of the reviews I saw that many of the younger readers thoroughly enjoyed the novel, While, adult readers were much more blunt. But I can't say that all young readers enjoyed this book because i'm 14 years old and I didn't really like it. I didn't really see an angle to this book. We'll say it squarely revolved around a young girl living in Philadelphia. She experiences sexual encounters and the story I suppose leads onto the fact that Tracey has blossomed into a young woman. I guess this means that this book is suppose to be diffrent from those novels that are about adolescence and coming of age but...it isn't. And as a young and aspiring scribe I can say for myself, that we should be presenting a positive image to young teens. I know I sound like a broken record but there are other ways to get people to read a book then to have the main character having sex with every boy around the way. What does that say?
Rating: Summary: Save your $$ Review: This is the worst book I have EVER read. EVER. The plot was trite and ridiculous, the protgonist was an unsympathetic slut, and Tyree's command of the english language is questionable (at best). I am sick of publishers publishing any random book by a black author because they think that there's "a market" for it. Wake up! We won't read crap just because it's written by a black author! Quality counts and this book is sadly lacking in quality (and grammar). While reading it, I was searching around for a blunt object to bludgeon myself. It's AWFUL.
Rating: Summary: Too Good To Even Put Down!!! Trust Me!!! Review: I absolutely love Omar Tyree's Flyy Girl. It hit the nail right on the head. This book is one of my favorites. I can relate so much to everthing being said and done in the novel. I beleive the reason that teens are so attracted to this book is because it is REAL. Straight up!! Tryee did a terrific job!! I can't wait to read For The Love of Money.
Rating: Summary: FLYY GIRL Review: THIS BOOK IS ABOUT A GIRL NAMED TRACEY.TRACEY HAS SLANTED HAZEL EYES,TALL HAIR,AND AN ATITTUDE.TRACEY GETS INTO ALOT OF TROUBLE IN THIS BOOK SHE'S BEEN WITH VICTOR,BRUCE,AND TIMMY WHO WAS ABUSIVE TOWARD HER AND ALOT OF OTHER BOYS.AS TRACEY GETS OLDER SHE MOVES ON FROM ALL THOSE BOYS AND MOVES ON WITH HER LIFE BUT SHE STILL HASN'T GOT OVER VICTOR. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO PEOPLE FROM THE AGES 12-16 FOR THE TEENS WHO LIKES TO READ EXCITING BOOKS AND FOR THOSE WHO WOULDN'T WANT TO PUT IT DOWN AFTER THE FIRST PAGE.
Rating: Summary: My thoughts on the book.... Review: I'd like to start by saying that if you haven't read this book, you definately wanna go get it. I was 16yrs old when my older cousin in her 20's handed me the paperback intitled"Flyy Girl" The cover of the book struck my attention which instantly made me wanna see was it as good as it looked. I started the book in the beginning of June and finished by the end of June. I'm now 18yrs of age and I suggested to two of my younger cousins that they should pick it up. This book definately touched home with me it represented a young sista that most of us know. We all have friends that acted like Tracey and I could relate. This book represented the feelings most young women have growing up, dealing with pressure, dating, parents, stress. To sum it all, the book was REAL. Omar Tyree really has done it again! With a greatjob in his writings, and a great lesson for all young women.
