Summary: A great "adult" novel from one of my childhood authors.
Review: I remember reading Judy Bloom as a young girl, and I alays found her books entertaining and at many times funny (who can forget Super Fudge?). One of the things I love about her books the most is that they usualy deals with iffy subjects in the most casual and funny way. Wifey was such a fast read, I read it in one day. The issues that the main character deals with are easily relatable, and that made it all the more interesting. I would suggest this one to anyone ready for a slightly steamy, funny and quick read. Way to go Judy!

Summary: A great fast read, that will leave you laughing.
Review: "Wifey" was a great book, and a fast page-turner. I have been a fan of Judy Blume since I was in elementary school, and she has never disappointed me. "Wifey" is a story about the extracurricular and sexual activities of the well-off in suburban New Jersey, during a summer in the early 1970s. Sandy Pressman has been bored with her life and marriage, until the morning a man on his motorcycle rides onto her property. With her children away at summer camp, Sandy finds herself getting into certain situations that will forever change her "good girl" image. Meanwhile, life goes on for her husband, family, and friends, most of whom are clueless about Sandy's activities. Written in a humorous prose, "Wifey" will leave you laughing, and you will not want the story to end. Just be careful not to leave this book where a child will find it, because it is very sexually explicit. "Smart Women" will be my next read.

Summary: Such an easy read!
Review: This is the first adult novel that I have read by Judy Blume. I was hooked from the first page; not really because of the story itself, but how it was written. Reading this book was like reading a letter from a friend; there wasn't a single paragraph that I found boring. Honestly, I felt like I was reading about myself. I laughed a lot at things that were so true to marriage. Of course, I think Judy could write about composte and make it enjoyable to read! This is a must for women that love books about women; a much better read than any romance novel.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Entertaining, but a little shallow
Review: I know this book was written a while back, but I still could not excuse some feelings I had toward Sandy. It got on my nerves that she felt her life was empty and meaningless, yet never told her husband her troubles. If she hated him so much why did she stay with him and have children? Women got divorces then. I came to the conclusion that Norman's money made her feel safe, and that makes her a very shallow character. I laughed with her and at her, but I never felt a connection to her because I really didn't like her.

Summary: DIFFERENT
Review: I read WIFEY and I must say that it was nice, but the character Sandy and her husband, Norman were a little odd. Norm seems to be the "traditonal husband of old" nothing daring just basic and normal. Sandy on the other hand wanted the excitment in her sexual life that she just was not having with Norm. I just did not understand the affair with her brother in law of all people. A neat read for excitment.

Summary: Cute, very cute!
Review: I read this book a while ago, even before I was married, but it always stuck with me, because it was just so much fun to read! But then again, Judy Blume books are always entertaining and fun to read, so what else is new? In the other reviews I read, people expressed disappointment over the characters in the novel, but hey. That's reality for you! People are only human, and do not always act in ways we wish they would in real life, so why should it be any different in a novel ABOUT real life? Just as in all Judy Blume books, the book is bursting with dialogue, which makes it a fast read; very hard to put down! A must-read for all Judy Blume fans!

Summary: A WINNIPEG READER THAT LOVED THE BOOK

Summary: What's up with the BLACK NEGATIVE REMARKS????
Review: Man, oh man. I like Judy Blume just like the next white person but what really turned me off with this book was the negative references to black people. What's up with that? I mean, the book was slow near the middle but for the most part it was rather entertaining and worthwhile. It's just disturbed me with those remarks made by NORMAN, the husband and others at the club. Hello..did judy blume just think she was just reaching the white audience? What about the other black audience with Masters Degrees, like myself, who enjoy reading and critiquing stories? hello?

I understand that the book was written awhile ago, I just didn't dig the remarks. Other than that, it was very life-like and devouring. I definitely wanted to finish the novel.

I hope Judy can keep the negative remarks out of her novels or she will lose me as an audience and I will definitely include her on the NAACP's "list"!!!

Summary: Good, but not what I expect from Blume
Review: I've been a fan of Blume for fifteen years - her books taught me more about the birds and the bees than any scared adult could. She boldly goes where no female writer does - into the depths of how people really think and feel.

Disappointingly so, Sandy, the star of this book is the icon of superficial and shallow. She is unbearably dull despite her dirty little mind. Her flings were unfulfilling and we never find out who the guy on the motorcylce is!

The ending - BLAH - I flipped the page thinking there was more. It's as if she didn't know where to take it.

I would have liked to see Norman burst out of his anal retentive self and turn into the love machine Sandy needed.

I look forward to Summer Sisters, and highly recommend Smart Women.

Summary: Awesome!
Review: I just read "Smart Women". It was fantastic. The characters are very developed and very round. I have always read Bloom as a child, "Super Fudge" and "Tales of the Fourth Grade Nothing". I didn't even know she wrote adults books. "Summer Sisters" was amazing too. Read them both!
