Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: A waste of time and money... Review: I used to love Kay Scarpetta but after this book... It is so bad that I can't even finish it... I put it in my garage sale box. Her non-Scarpetta novels were so bad that they belong there too. I am really so disappointed. I think Patricia Cornwell is tired, burned out, or lazy. She has definitely lost it. I can't believe she allowed this book to be published. It's an embarrassment to her and those who take the time to read it. She made her money on the Scarpetta character so I guess all is not lost for her. 0 stars is not an option... should be... even minus stars...
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Blow On By Fly Review: This was the most disappointing book I've read in a long time. The only reason I finished it is that I kept hoping it would get better. Too many story lines, and none of the characters are really likeable. And with the sudden ending of this book (did you have a deadline to meet Ms.Cornwell?) I can't believe there will be another novel with the ridiculously boring Chandonne character. Enough is enough! Please, Ms. Cornwell (and your editor), get back to your old form and give us back the Kay Scarpetta stories that kept us up all night because we just couldn't put the book down.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: They keep getting worse Review: I think Patricia Cornwell is trying to see how badly she can write and still sell novels. Her past few novels have been just incredible--the characters aren't believable any more, the story lines aren't wrapped up properly, and the material is just plain depressing. In this one the formerly righteous crime fighters turn into murderers, and all of the characters act like wimps who don't know right from wrong. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: BLOW FISH Review: I was a big fan of Cornwell and her ficticional character, Scarpetta. But the plot, constance referances to previous books and the ending of this book, BLOW FLY ,left me in limbo. I hope the next book will be more intriging and enjoyable.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Yawn. Review: I usually give a book about 10 pages to pull me in before I move on (so many books, so little time...). I gave Blow Fly about 40. And after all those words, I still didn't give a rat's behind about Scarpetta or any of the other characters. I've read every Scarpetta novel, so theoretically I should have known what the backstory was, and had some emotional investment in the characters, but apparently The Last Precinct didn't make much of a lasting impression on me - I couldn't remember what had happened, or why I should care. Tempe Brennan is a more interesting medical examiner; V. I. Warshawski is a more interesting investigator; the latest novels featuring each of them were far more interesting than Blow Fly was. Maybe it's time for Scarpetta to just retire...
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Intriguing Review: This book is not your typical Scarpetta novel. However, it is still very good. I felt that she wrote a very good story but she does have the disappointing habit of wrapping up her books in about 2 pages. If you take it for what it is - a brilliant story - and do not read it with preconceived notions of what a Scarpetta novel "should be". Then you will not be disappointed. I found it quite enjoyable.

Review: When I starting reading the book I had the same additude as the other reviewers..upon completing the book my attitude changed. I thought it was slow starting but all in all I would recomened it to others..especially if you have read all her other novels.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Blow Fly: A Scarpetta Novel by Patricia Cornwell Review: I think Patricia Cornwell is tired of writing about Kay Scarpetta! It apparently is quite evident in this book. I agree with many of the other reviewers here, this book is an absolute dud. I'd be embarassed to pass it on to someone else! It is very poorly written. The characters are flat and unlikable! I wonder if she just wanted to satisfy her publisher's deadlines. The reader gets the feeling Patricia Cornwell rushed through this novel to get it over with! I, too, was quite annoyed that she kept Scarpetta on the perimeter of the story until the end! Three chapters devoted to Baptiste talking to himself, was just downright boring. We get the point already, this guy is a nutcase! The book dwells on this too much! Downright condesending to the readers. I, too, like the others wondered how she was going to tie everything up with so few pages left. The end was rushed. A BIG disappointment. I wish she would not write anymore about Kay Scarpetta if she's going to treat her character with such irreverence and disrespect. The most disappointing feeling I have, though, is that I anxiously waiting so long for nothing? This book just got me upset! Patricia Cornwell, please reread your first few novels, that's what the readers want!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The Best of the Best Review: It is possible readers of Blow Fly were let down by the ending and disappointed that Kay Scarpatta was not so much the main character. The unabridged audiotape is riveting. The reader is superb as she has been in previous tapes. From French to German to Marino-ese. Cornwell's intricate plot comes alive with the reader's skill. I still like being read to.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Too much Lucy, not enough Scarpetta Review: Without restating what many other reviewers have already said, this latest chapter in the Kay Scarpetta series was a complete letdown. Aside from those moments that defied logic and the abrupt and unsatisfactory ending (couldn't we at least be a witness to the demise of the hideous Jay Talley?), this book completely lost focus of its central character. Were is Kay Scarpetta? She is the heroine, right? Way too much Lucy and her glitzy spy toys. I think Ms. Cornwell needs to re-read the first books in her Scarpetta series to remind herself of what a compelling and thrilling author she can be.
