Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Who wrote this book ??!! Review: I will never believe that Patricia Cornwell wrote this book. It went everywhere, yet absolutely nowhere. I'm sick of the Chandonne story line, that we clearly will be hearing from again. I'm also sick of writers having people come back from the dead, just to keep a story going. Not to mention having prisoners easily escape from maximum security prisons, just to make room for a sequal. Do you mean to tell us that prison guards let dangerous prisoners, with "Nothing to lose", out of handcuffs BEFORE they are safely locked in their cell ?? Please....give readers credit. The new twist with Lucy's behavior was beyond disappointing. I have been a Cornwell fan from the beginning and like another reader said, felt like throwing this book against the wall after coming to it's end, which by the way, was not the end. Will the real Patricia Cornwell please write us another book and dump the Chandonne's while she's at it?

Review: -and my husband went out of his way to get an autographed copy of this novel for me for Christmas!I have loved all of the Scarpetta romps and intrigues but this one left me feeling that Cornwell has done a big injustice to her lead character. I actually didn't mind the first two-thirds of the novel. I thought Cornwell did a fairly decent job of describing the sub-plots and that she intertwined them quite well. But the ending......oh my goodness. I felt utterly ripped off. So much time was spent throughout the book on the Jay Talley and his sidekick, Bev's, gruesome shenanigans and virtually no time given to their come uppins. I, also, thought that the new character, Nic, would and should have been far more developed throughout the story. Ms. Cornwell is going to have to do a much more credible job next time to redeem herself. Perhaps the character who is so ridiculously on the loose at the end of this novel could be knocked off within the first few pages and then a new storyline created. That would be a treat, wouldn't it? Let's get some energy back into Kay as well. I also want to say that it's a shame when reviewers actually give away events in their reviews (I hope I haven't done that). Often reviews are read by people who have not yet read the book and it's too bad when major events are revealed in the reviews.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Too Bad Review: Always anxiously waiting for her latest novel, I was truly disappointed with this incredibly bad novel. Sorry, it was a disjointed story with an ultimate insult when he walks out of deathrow? So predictable and not even believable. The last two books I read were so disappointing. It'll take a really inspiring tale to get me to buy another one of her novels. Too bad.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Should have read the reviews first..... Review: All the negative reviews are right on the money. Boring book. No need to go into details...others have done that. I doubt I'll finish the book. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT....looked forward to this book as did countless others. What a waste.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Blow Fly Review: this book did not hold up to the standerd of a best seller
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: disappointing Review: Please, Ms. Cornwell. Go back to what you do best. Focus on forensics and quit trying to create a sequel-series. This story takes forever to get started. The first third of the bok is a recap of previous stories. It appears Ms. Cornwell had a deadline to meet and wrote the whole book in a few hours. The worst part is that she ends the story with a promise that this weak story is to be continued. Guess I'll pass on the next one.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Was It Just About Money? Review: I am a huge fan of the Kay Scarpetta novels but I couldn't have been more disappointed in this one. The only resemblence Blow Fly has to the prior stories is the characters. Everything that has kept me coming back for more in this series of books was totally missing from this one! The story is disjointed, the characters we've grown to like dispite themselves now have no personality or depth. I kept waiting for it to get better but unfortunately, it never did! Ms. Cornwell, I can't believe you really feel this book is up to your normally high standards. Shame on you if this was done only for the money!
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Disappointing and Contrived Review: I was very excited to find that Scarpetta was back! For years, I've recommended Cornwell's books to friends and family. However, this book was quite a disappointment. The plot is lacking, and the ending is contrived. As I started approaching the end of the book, I found myself looking at the number of pages left, wondering if the story was to be continued, because there appeared to be no possible way to tie everything up in so few pages. It did come to a conclusion, however, the ending is terrible. The interaction between Lucy, Marino, Benton, and Kay is disappointing, at best, and the actions of the characters throughout the book are equally disappointing. We were introduced to a character - a police officer in Louisiana - who showed promise to become a much bigger part of the book, but ended up as a fairly minor character. My biggest disappointment is that Kay Scarpetta is also only a minor character, with very little forensics involved. Where are those intricately detailed plots with the Kay Scarpetta of old that we had grown to love? I never enjoyed the Jean-Baptiste Chandonne storyline and was extremely disappointed to know from the ending that there will probably be another. I would not be disappointed if that story faded into the past. If Patricia Cornwell has run out of fresh ideas, I would almost prefer that she retire the character and not write another Scarpetta novel.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: So glad Kay Scarpetta is back!! Review: I was thrilled to find that Patricia Cornwell finally went back to her Kay series. I adore this series more than any other, and was riveted by this book. I don't understand the negative reviews. The story is interesting and suspenseful and I could not put it down. So what that there are other characters. She always has lots of characters. So what that it is not always from Kay's point of view. I find it interesting as long as Kay is involved. I was thrilled that Benton was alive, and thought it to be a neat twist. I can't wait until the next in the series and hope another 2 years does not have to pass before we get one. I found Cornwell's writing style to be engaging as always and saw nothing wrong with this book. It may not be the best in the series, but I loved it and will keep it next to all her others on my shelf. The only reason I did not give this book 5 stars is because there are a couple of unanswered qustions in the end and the ending seemed hurried and a bit forced.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: BIG disappointment for Cornwell/Scarpetta fans Review: I've read all of Patricia Cornwell's Scarpetta novels, and both the Andy Brazil books and loved them all. Eagerly, I bought Blow Fly and started in. I wasn't sure if time had just taken it's toll on my reading desires, or if the book was truly as disappointing as I found it. It was the latter. Like other reviewers, I felt the book seemed to jump around with very little flow and there was VERY little of the forensic aspect that attracted so many to Scarpetta in the first place. The plots have become so far-fetched and ridiculous it's tough to enjoy the book with a straight face. The book also ends in a way that leaves the reader KNOWING there will be an equally-bad follow up. If Patricia Cornwell is unable to continue the Scarpetta stories with the intelligence, wit and drama we've all grown accustomed to, it's time to retire the character and start with something fresh and (hopefully) better.
