Summary: If the hoouse were burning, I'd grab this book first!
Review: I own thousands of books, and have read many times that. While I may dither about the other nine of my top ten, I never hesitate to rate Far Pavilions as the best book I have ever read. Ash, Anjuli, Wally, and India (for you must include India as a primary character) are brilliantly portrayed and completely unforgettable.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: One of my all-time top ten favorites
Review: I first read this book over twenty years ago, and have re-read it at least 10 times. It's just as good each time. M.M. Kaye's autobiography which I just read shows where she got her obvious love of India that shines through in the book. It's a wonderful book that includes something for everyone. Also read Shadow of the Moon for another exceptional book.

Summary: Don't Settle For Anything Less Than Heaven
Review: I am only half way through this beautiful novel, yet I have already felt a lifetime's worth of pain, struggle, and love. My advice to everyone: search the world until you find that one true love. In that, you will find happiness.

Summary: The colors of love and death have never been so vibrant.
Review: The Far Pavilions is not a fairy tale. Too many people die for it to be called that. But if you have ever believed in a love that conquers all, and a life of glossy glamour, with the exotic backdrop of silks and snakes, you have to read this book. Kaye has a talent for bringing you close enough to the main character that you can feel the heat of an Indian summer, and the sting of the cold wind in the Himalyan mountains. I read this book when I was eleven, and in the seven years that followed I collected a copy of every fictitious book she wrote. I searched many different countries, all around the world, and they were worth it, because no matter how many times you read it, the magic in any one of M.M.Kaye's books never fades away. And The Far Pavilions is her best work.
