Summary: What the -- ????
Review: Not only is this book vindictive and petty, it is also boring. Not only is this book vindictive, petty and boring, it is so poorly edited that if I had a dollar for every glaring grammatical or spelling error on its pages, I'd be able to afford a lot more books on the same subject that are much more informative and entertaining. Interestingly, I noticed on the inside cover that my copy had been revised. Why did anyone bother? DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR YOUR TIME!

Summary: How on earth did this get published?
Review: Oh my, where do I start? I bought this book based on the recommendations written here. I feel compelled to write a review only because this is the worst book I HAVE EVER READ.
190 pages of double spaced trite that was a total waste of the three hours spent reading.

This book was written by a warehouse worker\video editor who goes on and on and on about how she disliked her co-workers, how she didn't get paid enough, and how she was so under appreciated by her boss.
You would think there would be some insight into the mysterious world of the pornographic movie industry, yet there are literally 4 pages out of 190 that even remotely touches on this and only in passing. While reading this book, you get the idea that you're overhearing a factory worker complaining to her girlfriend about how lousy her job is and how much she dislikes working there. If I were to overhear this conversation at a restaurant, I would ask politely to be moved to a different table. Believe it or not, it IS that bad.

Summary: maybe true but very badly written
Review: Save your money. Don't buy this book. The author was, and maybe still is, a "behind the scenes" worker who did adult film editing and compilations for small companies. She tells us about the people she has worked for and with. It is obvious that she thinks that many of the senior people were extremely dishonest and subordinate workers were lazy and unreliable. She tells us about some of these people, but never paints a helpful picture. Hemingway she is not.

Several reviewers suggested that her descriptions are accurate. That may be so, but in my opinion the book is very badly written and tedious. I understand that English is not the native language of the author but is obvious that no editorial checking ever took place. The spelling and grammar are awful. Yet it was a quick read - it took me less than an hour. The book is about 200 pages long but with a very large font and double spacing. It would fill far less 100 pages with a regular font and normal single spacing.

The content is also very repetitious. In brief, the story could be told in a magazine article. But that would require writing skills far beyond those shown by Ms Bridge. The author never addresses one obvious question - why did she not get another job or at least find a company in the adult video industry that was not run by scumbags? She also never tells the reader much about the industry besides the shortcomings of those she has worked with.

If you want to read a well written book, try "Coming Attractions" by Stoller and Levine. It describes a production episode at the other end of the adult video spectrum.

Summary: Mildly Retarded 4 Year Old
Review: The positive reviews on this book are clearly written by the author or her friends. The book is extremely poorly written, being full of basic grammitical errors and incorrect spelling. The story is really a non-event about a women spending 2 years and 7 days working in the back office of video porn distributors. About her working long hours and being "good" at her job. It came across as a big complaining session about her former work collegues. I say "who cares"! The book was simply painful to read. A mildly retarded 4 year old could have done better. All I have to say is don't waste your money on this book.

Summary: What the book is all about.
Review: There is not one review that I have read that tells what this book is all about. What I find is a lot of childish complaints, it is obvious that none of the 'complainers' have tried to understand what the book is trying to reveal.
The book is about a woman that works in the industry, she does not like it, but she does what she has to do to make money to support her family. Second, she does not complain, she explains and tells what to expect about the co-workers, enviroment, what happends when you work with 'the other Hollywood' etc.. This is the reality of the industry, anyone that works in a legit workplace does not deal with drug addicted managers and company leaders that does drugs right on the desk. The author writes about the mentality of the industry how people act and handle situations, deals with others and how warped their minds are by alcohol and drugs. She writes about dirty deals, piracy, treats, about a colorful key person that ended up murdered etc. This is not complaining this is pure insight to some one that does not know anything about this sort of industry. The readers that has not caught that by reading the book has obviously not been sober at the moment. This book is not a sob story by all means, I guess the author gets her last word and closes the door to a chapter of her life by writing about it. Like many others before her in this disgusting industry she did not stay year in and year out and then write about it to make money off it, she was smart and stood up and left meanwhile she had her head on her shoulders.

Someone who thinks this is a book filled with explicit pictures with some sexy details should not buy this book. This is a book for a mature person to read that don't expect anything but ends up learning something different.

Summary: Straight forward...
Review: This author does have the last word, it does seem to some previous reviewers that they do not like the authors last word. One can not always please all readers, but it pleased me. I think that the midas touch has suddenly been broken for the company owner, and everything will eventually come back tenfault. You can learn from the book many more things than just how the adult film industries components work but also how the minds of the people that are involved works. The author has taken her revenge in exposing a very greedy producer, but also how not to do business and always treat others the way they want to be treated them selves. It is clear that the owner has no respect for him self that is why he does not show respect to others. This book is a form of payment for not respecting others.

Summary: This is the most humorous porn exposé in a long time!
Review: This book is a must for the buyers of the 'porn' genre. It is funny, humorous and witty written in a street wise way absolutely not a novel that's for sure. It is a true story that exposes the players of the industry, it is written in a conversational way where the author describes situations, people and feelings with sarcasm and wit. The author has not saved on the nails when she hammers down every bit of personal information about the characters, it is as if you know them and I guess people in the industry might recognize them selves. I am truly happy that it is not another celebrity that is trying to cash in on the last attempt of fame; this author is like anyone you know, written from the heart, informative, straight forward, none polished and just the way it is.

Summary: Different...
Review: This book is different from others, first it is not written by a famous person, second she tells it as she sees it.
I have read other books such as 'Coming Attractions' where a Phd interviews all sort of people in the industry that came out 1996. Do not forget it is 10 years ago and guess what, the industry has changed and so has its business ethics and the players of the industry. The industry makes 10 billion dollars annually and if you are a worker in the field, would you think that they would tell how bad the industry is, you don't bite the hand that feeds you. From demanding no condoms and paying the actresses less that has to take bigger risks, how can this industry be anything but bad. I think this book shows an angle that we kind of had an idea but now it is in print. Who cares that the English is not the authors languages, who cares that editing is to publisher standard, it is at least as good as if someone wrote you a letter, really. Did you read it, get the message, then what is the problem. At least someone is brave enough to stand up and speak their mind and walk away from it all. The author is published through 1st books, a self publishing company, she had something to say and she did all by herself, that we should all lift our hats for.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Very controversial
Review: This book is very controversial; it has the authors point of view of many things such as the adult entertainment industry, her personal view of others both co workers as well as owners that she worked with that can sometimes have a racial tone to it. It is probably a mix of freedom of speech and experience that has made her create her opinion and put it in print.
The book also contains a story that is not too unfamiliar to the industry, it's about being backstabbed and the cutthroat business it is. I have looked over the previous reviews and it contains no real information in regards to the book. Thank god this is not a book with explicit pictures and a run away kid that ends up in porn, that is soo old now. Instead a straight forward and to the point about a different view of the industry.
