Rating: Summary: Awesome in story and content Review: This was an experience for me. Usually I just pick fiction but a friend gave me this as a gift. One of a very few books that grabbed me the second I started to read. This man goes through such terrible trials and tribulations you actually want to reach out to him. The storytelling is incredible along with his travels across the backroads of Americana. While true love is the main theme his will to survive and his salvation in the end is the most important story. A wonderful adventure that makes you aware that hope is essential in order to survive the rigors of life. I highly recomment it to all.
Rating: Summary: Destined To be a Bestseller! Review: It is the best reading I've done in a long time. A gripping story of betrayal, deception, greed, love, suspense, and hope. I could not put it down! It made me laugh, cry and reflect on what is important in life. I didn't want it to end. Also, a very strong message about the human spirit, and what you can accomplish when you have a strong faith in a Higher Power. And yes, Angels are for real!
Rating: Summary: Travel Agent Review: BRILLIANT! SIMPLY BRILLIANT!A book you can really sink your teeth into. You become a part of the novel. You travel with this tormented man onto his "Ribbons of Concrete" during his banishment and learn that the human spirit is very resilent, "even against the ultimate betrayal of true love." The author touched my heart.
Rating: Summary: Review Ribbons of Concrete Review: The story takes you places you don't want to leave as you are caught up in the adventure and mishaps of this banished man. You won't want to set the novel down to leave this man alone for a minute. It captured my heart and soul. Jack writes to a woman's heart and you will want to reach out and embrace him. Dr. Laurie Berger-Jackson, Ph.D.
Rating: Summary: I TOO TOOK A ROAD TRIP Review: This delightful novel of one mans journey to survive the hell that life delt him can only stir up ones own hells and ride along with Jack and reach into our souls and search for the angels for answers. I read this novel in one week into the early morning hours not able to put it down and welcome others to take this journey with Jack. A must read!!!
Rating: Summary: A great book! Review: Banished to the Ribbons of Concrete is a must read for any person who believes in "true love." The author, Jack Vink is a romantic at heart It is one of the best books I have ever read. Many words have a dark shadow to them, this author enlightens you from the very beginning. I found myself so immersed into his story I would sit for hours reading, never moving from the sofa. He captured my heart and soul. His storytelling ability is what captivates you. You are there with him during all his terrible trials and tribulations. I read in a magazine a few weeks ago where another reviewer said he was like a modern day Ulysses out of Homer's Odyssey. A man trying to find his way home to his true love. I would recommed this without a second thought. It is truly a wonderful book. I now know why in has been nominated for a Pulitzer. It is a rather large book but as I neared the end I became depressed that it would soon end. I wait impatiently for his next novel.
Rating: Summary: "ROAD TRIP" WITH LOVE AND LAUGHTER Review: Love, Laughter, Mad Money and Ridiculous Situations make this "ROAD TRIP" a great read for all who love an adventure. And it is definitely a great adventure with lots of roadblocks and creative fun along the way. An amazing mind and a classic car can and does take our hero on a merry and sometimes hectic chase over seemingly endless miles of concrete. A MUST READ!!!
Rating: Summary: Life sucks and then you die Review: After reading this I wanted to just say "Waah". You reap what you sow and I have never read such a whiney "poor me " account of someone who was used to lifes luxuries and got in over his head ...only to lose it all to start over. Who hasn't been there in some way or form? The only thing I can say is that the author is trying to re coup his loses hoping he will sell a lot of books. He is NOT a likable man. Don't wast your time or money. It took me a year to read because I kept putting it down to go throw up over my distaste for the author.
Rating: Summary: A great book written with heart and soul. Review: Angels and demons. Monsters from the subconscious and the devil chasing an innocent soul named Jack Vink. Mix in true love, ultimate betrayal, and a man on the run driving the back roads of America and you have a great novel called, Banished to the Ribbons of Concrete. I enjoyed the many hours and days as I read about this man's adventures. His writing style is unique and you never get bored. Actually, you don't want the book to end. Best book so far in 2004.
Rating: Summary: Concise, Crisp and Colorful Story. Review: I loved the way this author tells his autobiography. His discripton of the characters is so concise you get to know them personally. The dialogue is so crisp you know what they are going to say and what their reactions will be. Felt like I was standing next to Jack Vink, the author, as he spoke. Traveling the countryside from coast to coast in that beat up 1952 MG was an eye-opener and very colorful. I saw America on the backroads like no other. The book at times is very intense but the story he tells of torment, agony, ultimate betrayal, lost hope, and most important, the love in his heart made this book a must read. I really enjoyed his autobiography. Might have to read it again soon for the rush I felt.
