Rating: Summary: Poway, California Reviewer Review: It is a pleasure to give a review to this great book. After my girlfriend read it she gave it to me. This novel has shown me what true love really is and should always remain. I never tired of reading the adventures of the main character Jack Vink. As a man I could identify with him the loss and loneliness he went through after being betrayed by someone he loved more than himself. It is amazing to read about the inner strength he possessed to overcome the hardships that seemed to pile up on him. The author uses descriptions and pathos as well as anyone I have ever read. He tells a story and puts you right in the middle of it with him. The book deals with feelings we all have been through but none of us are capable being able to put to paper as he has. A truly remarkable book, I cried and am not ashamed to say it. The book is a must read for anyone who wants to feel the pleasure love gives. It is a very large book but I am reading it a second time to see if I missed anything. I recommend it to all.
Rating: Summary: Banished to the Ribbons of Concrete Review: I enjoyed reading this book very much! From the moment I started reading,it kept my interest and I couldn't put it down. I could actually feel the pain and suffering right along with Jack. I wish someone would love me like Jack loved Rebecca! I could also relate to the angels in the story, I feel I have a few myself. I am so looking forward to his next book. Mr Vink in my opinion is a very talented and gifted writer, and I will be sure to tell my friends and family about this book! Sincerly Kathleen Los Angeles
Rating: Summary: This 5-star rating should be considered platinum. Review: The minute you pick up this book, you will find it difficult to put down. You will ride with Jack on the ribbons of conrete and watch his angels and demons wreak havoc on his life. As much as you want, you are helpless the go to his aid. This book is on its way to the big screen and from there to the Oscars. A sure winner for the Pulitzer! You will feel hatred for the witch Diane and wonder how Jack can still feel love for her. I can't say enough about this book. I highly recommend it. Don't be left behind, get it now. Everyone will be talking about it.
Rating: Summary: Wow! What A Terrific Story! Review: I am an avid reader of fiction and many of the best-sellers. Although Banished to the Ribbons of Concrete is non-fiction, an autobiography of Jack Vink, it kept me captivated. I spent many nights reading well into the early hours, often falling asleep with book in hand. It was written with such raw emotion and description, it tugs at your heart. The story of a man who suffered ultimate betrayal of true love that changed his life forever. On his road trip to nowhere you meet angels, demons and the devil himself. So many stories of beauty and gut-wrenching agony, you too will laugh and cry not wanting this story to end. It is a remarkable book. I hope it wins the Pulitzer. I can't wait for his next book to come out!
Rating: Summary: A PERFECT READ! Review: A beautiful rendered story of faith and devotion, blended with good old-fashioned intrigue and adventure. This is a book all women will love except for the wicked witch Diane. I loved it.
Rating: Summary: Not what I thought but it was great anyway..... Review: This book was not what I had envisioned, but I was pleasantly surprised at how wonderful of a read it became. Very well written and hard to put down. This book will satisfy those with an appetite for romance and legal thrillers. But I warn you now, be sure to wear your seatbelt when you go on a ride across the country with this author. Trouble follows him like a shadow.
Rating: Summary: Quite simply, a masterpiece of Americana Review: The shock and awe of this book was overwhelming. I enjoyed it so much that I refused to rush through to the ending, savoring it over several weeks. Terrific writing. A warm peek at the back roads of America. Very erotic in certain passages. Only a true romantic can make the words excite one's subconscious. This author writing reminds me of two other great novels, The French Lieutenant's Woman and Lady Chatterley's Lover.
Rating: Summary: PHENOMENAL BOOK FOR AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY Review: I just finished reading the DaVinci Code and will tell you right now, this book, Banished to the Ribbons of Concrete is equal to or better than Dan Brown's novel. Although it is non-fiction it was just as compelling and exciting. The author Jack Vink is so descriptive with the development of his characters they become real, like a halogram in your mind. You either fall in love with them like Rebecca or are repulsed by the mere mention of their name, like Diane. It has just the right amount of everything that makes it a great read. Vink uses short descriptive, action packed chapters to produce a thriller. The best part of the book is you are right in the middle of all his trials and tribulations. It is glorious reading at its best.
Rating: Summary: A trip across America as only the author Jack Vink can tell. Review: Moving story of deceit, betrayal, true love, the good guys, the bad guys and lost hope. I have cried for this banished man and have lit many candles for him in church. I pray he finds his quest, "true love." I like the book so much I am reading it a second time. I am mesmerized by his true story and the ordeal he was make to go through.
Rating: Summary: An Atmospheric Autobiography Review: This great book gives you the high highs, or the lowest of lows. The author puts you in touch with your own feeling the way no one else can. Flesh and blood character abound in this autobiography and you either love them or hate them. A JUGGERNAUT AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF JACK VINK. Someone most do not yet know but soon will become a household name like Tom Clancy, John Grisham, Dan Brown or Nora Roberst.....Just wait and see!
