Rating: Summary: I read this book more than 20 years ago! Review: I read this book more then 20 years ago and it has stayed in my heart ever since! I thought it was just because I was in an inter-racial relationship that it affected me so deeply, but I see that it is universally wonderful. Even after all these years, I still remember David as if he were a member of my family. This book is my all-time favorite! I am so happy to finally find it again and I can't wait to re-read it and hand it over to all my family and friend readers! I highly recommend it to everyone!
Rating: Summary: Fabulous Review: I loved the character development in this story. On the last page I felt I was leaving good friends behind!
Rating: Summary: Five Smooth Stones Review: This is my favorite book in the world. I have read it 3 times and will read it again I'm sure. You will love it.
Rating: Summary: Five Smooth Stones- My Favorite Book Review: I first read Five Smooth Stones in high school in the late 70's. I've read it at least 8 times since. The story is still just as spellbounding and the love between David and Sara is still heartwarming.Although times have changed, the moral of the story hasn't; hard work and perseverance are still important. Lil Joe's devotion to David, the Professor's influence and Gram's love all speak volumes to what it really takes to raise a child to succeed and to do well, while doing good. I highly recommend every parent make this a part of their pre-teens and teen aged child's required summer reading list. InmI have. In fact, my 14 year old son is reading it now. Although the ending is tough, the life David lived and the legacy he left and the lives he touched will make his memory live forever.
Rating: Summary: Best book I've ever read Review: This is truley the best book I have ever read. As a teenager my opinion is probably not that important but I have an active love of literature and have never read anything which moved me more than this book. Aside from the excellent portrayal of what occured during the Civil Rights movement the story of David and Sara captured my imagination and gave me a sense of hope about love. I would definitely reccommend that everyone read this book!
