Summary: The most beautiful book I have ever read.
Review: I first read this book when I was about 16 years old. At that time I thought I was a part of all the characters lives. I lived with them, I spoke with them, I walked down the street with them. When they laughed I laughed. When they cried, I cried. To have become a part of a book the way I did was almost scarry. I was with these people everyday. When I cried it wasn't just tears flowing down my cheeks, I felt extreme pain. Pain that my mother had to ask me about. Most of the time I wouldn't tell her what was wrong because I didn't know how to explain that my heart and soul was hurting because of a character in a book.

Read this book. I think Oprah Winfrey should read this book. I believe the whole world should read this book. Maybe it will help some of the pain and hate go away.

Summary: One of the greatest books on Earth.
Review: My soulmate gave me a copy of this book 15 years ago and I treasure it everyday. It has touched my heart and soul and I found a theory for living in the characters of this amazing book. It is one of my greatest treasures. I'll pass it on to my grandsons as a literary gift.

Summary: Without a doubt one of the all time greats.
Review: This book brought forth more thought, emotion, and understanding than I thought possible for one published as fiction. An excellent read.

Summary: A MUST READ for every living American.
Review: This is the best book i have ever read. It touches a chord in all of us. We can all identify with at least one of the characters, or we know someone just like one of them. For me, when Li'l Joe Champlin speaks, i hear my own beloved grandmother talking to me. This book should be on the MUST READ list of every American who is able to read with understanding. I have read it at least 10 times and each time i love it more than the last. I recommend this book to any and everyone who asks me to suggest a good book. I am constantly amazed at her ability to make me, the reader, a part of the story. It is truly the BEST book i have ever read.

Summary: I'll never loan out my copy!
Review: I found this book after a long search about 25 years ago, and bought the only 2 copies the store had. I gave one to my sister, who had told me about it, and a young friend of hers read it. He was stunned. How many people actually know that white people lost their lives in this struggle? Well, now they know. I'm glad it's back in print.

Summary: One of the greatest books I have ever read
Review: I loved this book, I cry every time I read it. I was looking for this book to give to my friend as a Christmas gift. It is a book that you read once and then years later you feel the need to read it again. A great lesson in ths book. I loved Gramps and his friend the Scot who tutored David I will never forget this book, and I too would have liked to read a sequel about David's son.

Summary: Sends chills through me, touched my soul.
Review: I found this as a yellowing paperback for the same price as a postage stamp at local thrift store. This book is a bargain at 100-200% more. The characters in this book were real people to me. I cried with them and laughed with them-got very emotionally involved with the injustices that were and are still integrated in the United States, that touts that "all men are created equal". To appreciate the paradox one just needs to read this book.

Summary: My all time favorite book!
Review: I found Five Smooth Stones when I was in High School and I still love this book today after 25 years and countless readings of the book. It is the only book that I have ever read over and over without the story becoming stale. Each time I read it, it is like visiting with old friends I get totally re-involved with the characters lives. I often wondered why this book was never made into a movie. The characters that Ann Fairairn has created are so believable and the story is so absorbing that you find yourself stealing moments to read the book; reading into the wee hours of the night because you don't want to put the book down. I would highly recomend this book to anyone. It is a keeper!
