Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Very good
Review: Excellent reading and an original love story, related to the universal feelings of love and suffering.. Read it! It is not the best book of the century but certainly a very good book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The book I think about when I'm not reading it
Review: This book reads like a dream! I have read Written on the Body twelve times and passed on several copies that have been passed on again and again. I have a moderately sized book collection yet, aside from Siddhartha, I find this book in my hands when I yearn to read and feel simultaneously. It's brilliant. Thank you Ms. Winterson!

Review: Thought it was interesting to read, but did not like it in general.

Summary: Never, ever read this book.
Review: Because you will fall in love with it and love always ends in loss.

Summary: Magic
Review: I packed up my sling back chair, tossed it in the back of my Jeep Wrangler and headed for the Red River to read this book. It was a beautiful, warm summer day and the sky was electric blue with a soft breeze blowing. Only a few pages into the book, I was completely lost to my surroundings! This is my favorite of Winterson's books. I could feel the pain of the story and fell into the souls of the characters. Not your usual run of the mill story, but well worth reading. I highly recommend it.....enchanting and mesmerizing!

Summary: Excellent
Review: Possibly my favorite by Winterson. Her insight into her protagonist's pain was astounding.

Summary: "written on the body," writ large on my mind
Review: i finished this book a few days ago, and still i can't get it out of my head. jeanette winterson has created a world in which love and passion and longing and despair are intensified beyond belief; they are so real that i felt as if the narrator and i were one, and i was suffering just as he/she was (such a tricky game, the guessing whether it's a man or woman). haven't we all been in love to the point where you think you'll literally overflow with joy? and haven't we all had a heartbreak that threatened our equilibrium? if you haven't, then you really should go out and do so. and if you had, read this book and you'll find all the words you ever wanted to describe those feelings.

Summary: Why is the measure of love, loss?
Review: Jeanette will tell you in a way that you will see, perhaps for the first time. Pass it on don't put it on a library.

Summary: Don't bother reading this! Just order the book! Express!
Review: This book rocked my world when I read a few months ago. It was written so beautifully and many times I was so moved by her delicate articulations that I put the book down so I could find a highlighter. The further the book progressed the more I felt my own emotions being greatly effected by the main character's and it was a little queer, but to say the least impressive, very rarely does one stumble upon a book that takes the reader on an the same emotional rollercoaster that the character is on. What are you doing here reading this review anyway, you should be express ordering it so it arrives tomorrow!!!!! You will not be dissapointed.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: If I could give it 6 stars I would
Review: I first read this book when it first came out, and I've read it about 10 more times since then, finding something new every time. I have never read anything so beautifully and lyrically written. At first, I was obsessed with the fact that we are not told the gender of the narrator. But after meeting Louise, I realized that the point is that it doesn't matter about the narrators gender. This story is about Love, and not in the sappy, beach-read way. It's about loving with your entire being, and how it can break down a human spirit. Winterson is blessed with a very unique talent and vision. Although I am not a fan of any of her other works, this book is essential. Buy it, because you're going to read it over and over again.
