Rating: Summary: Refreshing Review: I was ecstatic when I found out Travis Hunter had a new book. Besides the title (which made me the target of many corny lines), I loved everything about this book. I don't know what it is but many male authors (not all!) have that skill to tell a love story without being cliche' or corny. (Omar Tyree and Ernest Hill are also good at that). This story told readers about the life of a drug lord, police officer, heavyset but mildly secure woman, a gambler, a teenage girl forced to grow up too fast, a crackhead, and a bunch of other characters that were so entertaining to the point of not being hard to keep up with. There was the right amount of humor, intelligence, REALISTIC dialogue (that's so underrated), and plot movement to make this a quick enjoyable read. When does the fifth novel come out?
Rating: Summary: AMAZING Review: In this tantalizing tale, Travis Hunter takes us on a journey into the lives of siblings Dallas, Carmen and Priest Dupree.Dallas distraught over the death of his fiancé finds himself in meaningless relationships with women. When he gets involved with the wrong woman, he suddenly finds himself on the wrong side of the law. Carmen a successful physician is happily married or so it seems. Her whole world is turned upside down when she receives some devastating news. Priest the oldest of the three is very discreet about how he earns a living. Although they object to their brother's lifestyle, when problems arise, Dallas and Carmen depend on Priest to make everything all right. Whenever I read a novel by the very talented Travis Hunter, I find myself so absorbed in the story that I cannot put the book down. I am patiently awaiting his next contribution to the literary community. Pam Bolden Sistas' Down South Book Club
Rating: Summary: Travis Hunter tells the story well! Review: Travis Hunter captured my attention from the beginning to the end in his new novel A ONE WOMAN MAN. Dallas Dupress is a highly respected teacher among his peers and students at a local high school in the black community in Atlanta. He is heart stricken over the loss of his wife Yasmin who passed away after giving birth to their daughter AJA. Dallas adores his daughter who he is raising alone. He is falsely accused of rape which created a series of troublesome events in his life. Dallas maintained the support of his siblings and friends. His sister who is an Atlanta Physician has many issues that seemed to comprise her ability to be totally available to Dallas. The oldest sibling, Priest, struggled with handling Dallas and Carmen's problems and coping with their disappointment of him being a suspected drug dealer. Travis Hunter's novel creatively shows how the love and emotional bond that the siblings have towards each other helps them to survive the unfolding tragic events in their individual lives. I truly enjoyed reading this book. Travis thank you for writing a book the reflects how Black Men are positive role models in the home, workplace, and community!!!!!
