Rating: Summary: Fairytales with a twist Review: BEDTIME STORIES FOR WOMEN are guaranteed to give rise to your senses...and your libido. You will never read fairytales the same way after reading one of these stories. My personal favorites were "Beauty and the Beast," "Cat and Mouse," "Goldilocks and the Three Barons," "East of the Sun and West of the Moon," and "Snow White in the Woods." Each had me fantasizing, wanting more and still leaving much to the imagination.Ms. Madore expresses sensuality/sexuality without using the vulgarity or crass words that have began to plague modern day erotica. BEDTIME STORIES FOR WOMEN are told in an eloquent manner that is insatiable; they may even tempt you to want to create your own ending. Curl up with your significant other and prepare to read him a bedtime story. I must warn you that these stories are not meant to put him to sleep, but to wake him instead. I look forward to reading other erotica stories written by Ms. Madore; I'm sure I won't be disappointed by her fairytales with a twist. Reviewed by Ess Mays of The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers
Rating: Summary: I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS! Review: I can't believe I'll be the first one here to say "No" to this book. I ordered it based on someone's recommendation when I ordered "He's Just Not That Into You", thinking it addresses true women issues by restoring their self-esteem through somehow changed old fairy tales.
Well, I was totally WRONG!!!! This book just illustrates me how the world had gone mad, like Greg Behrendt said in his book. Nancy's introduction addresses that how women nowadays confused about their sexuality. Well, sounds good, huh? Read just two stories, I wonder how these stories are supposed to help those poor confused women out there, by encouraging more wild fantasies???
What the book encourages is instant gratification, disloyalty, absolute disregard of sanctification of marriage, indulgence of sensual pleasures, rapes by strangers, rapes in turn, etc. Absolutely NO morality, NO dignity, NO willpower of self-control!!! Guess who'll respect you if you behave yourself in such way?? NO one, not even yourself!!! I admit the descriptions brings short moment sensations, but will it really satisfy you in long term? Yes, you may get the pleasure, but how long do they really last? Can you keep the man for yourself for life? When you get old, what do you live on??? Creamy thigh fantasies??
I strongly feel sorry for this poor author who's a single mom, who says she's not a feminist, trying to find her intrinsic value as a woman by herself in this confused world. If she clearly states that this is just an erotica she wrote, trying to entertain people who are not satified in their own sex lives, I probably will give it a 5 star. However, she stated otherwise, which unfotunately not supported by her writing at all.
P.S. I'm not against sensual pleasures in the right context - marriage. I'm for it.
"When you look for satisfactions everywhere, you find it nowhere." -- Elizabeth Elliot
"Your lost self-esteem definitely takes longer to find than a new boyfriend, so prioritize accordingly." -- Greg Behrendt
I do NOT recommend this book to any one! Personally I already threw it in trash can.
Rating: Summary: A Great Remake of Some Great Fairy Tales Review: I love old fairy tales and collect many different books of them. This was by far one of the most enjoyable renditions of the stories like "Beauty and the Beast" "Bluebeard" "Goldilocks" "The Ugly Duckling" "The Goose Girl" and more. The author remained true to the mood and style of the original fairy tales, while incorporating a very modern erotic fantasy into the plots. The writing was extremely sensual while remaining tasteful. I am glad to have this book in my collection, and recommend it to women everywhere.
Rating: Summary: Fabulous Review: I loved it! If you like reading erotica and romance, this is the book for you.
Rating: Summary: These fairy tales are very special! Review: I loved the way these erotic stories were written. They are very sexual, and that was great, but they make you think too. I really appreciated the feminist ideas expressed in the book that were mingled into the stories. The erotic fantasies and stories not only turned me on sexually but also mentally. This is an uplifting book to read, and although it definitely did not make me feel like going to sleep, it sure did make me feel like a woman. Thank you Ms. Madore!
Rating: Summary: Agree with "I can't believe this" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: I was outraged!! This is not what women want. I too did not get passed the second story. I pity the man who can not satisfy a woman for he is not a wild enormous beast. As for Bluebeard to love a woman and give her what she needs is to break her physically and mentally!! I was outraged that this is being sold as truly what women fantasize about.
Rating: Summary: (4.5) For the woman you are and the girl you were Review: Ignore, please, the horribly blurry cover and the typos. Yes, this was printed on a low budget, but what you're getting when you buy this book is far from cheap.
If you're like me: If you loved fairy tales as a girl, if you grew up and started seeing adult meanings in all those brooding beasts and innocent beauties, this book is for you. If you, like me, were sucked in by the breathtaking first scenes of Anne Rice's Sleeping Beauty series but got bored with the endless spankings and the focus on the physical almost to the exclusion of the psychological--this book is for you.
Nancy Madore has written a wonderful collection of erotic stories based on the tales you've always loved. The prose is elegant--perhaps a bit arch in a delicious sort of way--and never vulgar. I highly recommend it. I especially loved "East o'the Sun, West o'the Moon" and "Beauty and the Beast".
The only issue I have is with the story "The Ugly Duckling." It's a nice story and makes an excellent point about the impossible beauty standards women are held to in our society--but to me it's more of a rant than an erotic tale. It just sort of doesn't go with the tone of the other stories, I guess. Madore deals better with the beauty-standards issue in "Mirror on the Wall", when the moral flows more naturally with the story.
Rating: Summary: DISAGREE With "I Can't Believe This" Review: Reading "I Can't Believe This"'s review I have to wonder why she bought the book. This is a book about sex and sexual fantasies that's why its called "bedtime" stories. There is lots of sex in the book, but I didn't see any rape or anything else to put women down. I read erotica and romance novels all the time and I can tell you that this book is really tame compared to most (I take it you never read anything by Ann Rice?). "I can't believe this" makes the book sound like vulgar porn, but actually, one of the things that impressed me about it was that it was very sexy without all the tacky inuendos and obsenities you usually find in erotica ("I can't believe this"'s "creamy thigh fantasies" did offend me). I thought Madore presented the fantasies in a very classy way. I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy erotica.
Rating: Summary: What a FANTASTIC Book! Review: Sexual fairy tales for women! I loved the idea and could not wait to get the book. And the stories exceeded my expectations. Nancy Madore picked all the best fairy tales (there was one I had never heard of before: East of the Sun and West of the Moon. I don't remember hearing that one when I was child but it sure was a good one in this version). But all the ones I remember are here: Goldilocks, Bluebeard, Beauty and the Beast, The Ugly Duckling and more. The stories were so much fun to read, and wow, when they got to the juicy parts! But the best part was that the stories were not tacky or obscene. They were more like sexual art. I can't imagine any woman not enjoying this book.
Rating: Summary: Oh My - Which one do I like best? Review: This book takes the classic fairy tales and turns them into exciting sexual fantasies! ie. in "Beauty and the Beast" the beast is half man and half beast (guess which half is beast!). There was no way I was going to miss that one! Instead of "Goldilocks and the three bears" this book has "Goldilocks and the three BARONS" which is hilarious one minute and suddenly very erotic the next. This author writes erotica masterfully and matter of factly, so that you don't feel like you are reading a "dirty" book. I think the story I most enjoyed was "Cat and Mouse" which was the story of a sexual competition between a man (cat) and woman (mouse). Not only was that story very sexually charged but it was very thought provoking too. But on the other hand, my favorite might be "The Empress' New Clothes," because the descriptions of the Empress in the exhibition room really got me going. No, now that I think of it, "The Sheep In Wolves clothing" was even better than that one because it is something I think most women fantasize about but don't necessarily enjoy doing. Oh, I forgot about the "East of Sun" story, which was also a real doosy. I think I will have to read them over again before I can decide which one I like best.
