Rating: Summary: I'm Still Waiting Review: I really enjoyed reading Got To Be Real. After reading Colin Channer's story he has been added to my favorite authors must read list. This was the first time reading one of Colin Channer's story. I really enjoyed reading Colin's short story I'm Still waiting. It depicted a man dealing with choices of his pass, and coming to terms with a pass relationship. It gave a view on male sexual maturity going from free sex to choosing to let the heart and mind rule his sexual activities. The power of forgiveness of self and others played a very moving role in this story. The characters were real and had me talking to them. (Smile) I am looking forward to reading other works by Colin.
Rating: Summary: Got to Be Read! Review: I really enjoyed the four short stories in this book. I was familiar with E. Lynn Harris and Eric Jerome Dickey, but I never heard of Marcus Major or Colin Channer. Each author has their own wonderful writing style so that none of the stories remind you of the others. Beautifully written, real life situations. Yes, the stories are boy meets girl (or boy!) but that happens....everyday! Marcus Major and Colin Channer were both read in a day. That's how hooked I was. Read it and you will be hooked, too.
Rating: Summary: I'm still waiting by Colin Channer Review: Colin Channer, I'm still waiting a short story, from the title book Got to be real. It's an excellent realistic love story, of tragedy, culture, music, humor and erotic sex. Colin took me on an emotionally roller coaster. I enjoyed it so much, I read it twice. Micheal's earlier childhood was tragic and traumatic. Patience a young sexy pop star and Micheal worked together to recreate their music careers in the beautiful sunny atmosphere of Jamaica. I'll say no more. You need to get this book to find how Patience tried to captivate and seduce Micheal , but his heart belongs to someone else. You'll get a frank look at how Micheal view sexual performance (wicket-in a bed). "Colin you crack me up".I read those pages several times , gave me feeling I couldn't imagine. "Colin! you so so good".I earnestly awaits Satify my Soul!. Readers you'll also enjoy E.lynn Harris, Eric Jerome Dickney and Marcus Major short stories.
Rating: Summary: These a a few of my favorite authors Review: I was not disappointed in my purchase. E. Lynn and Eric are my favorites and the others are new in my library. If you purchase this book you'll want to read the other books written by these delightful brothers.
Rating: Summary: It's Real! Review: It is wonderful to see men that are writing such strong, romantic, lyrical stories. It was hard to put the book down because I was too eager to see what was next. E.Lynn's story was breath-taking; Colin's story was sensual; Eric's story was sweet; and Marcus' story was romantic and funny. If you were not a fan of these fine, strong brothers, these stoies will change your mind.
Rating: Summary: "Just In the Nick of Time" Review: I thoroughly enjoyed all four short stories. Each with it's own style and flavour, but all ultimately headed towards the same goal of knowing what one wants in an intimate relationship. However, having read "Waiting in Vain", by Colin Channer, I'm quite partial to Mr. Channers etherial, descriptive writing style. While reading you find yourself captured, dizzy, swooning, just totally enthralled with the characters he introduces. Colin Channer and his fellow writers came "just in the nick of time", with their stories of love and passionate men & women, when a lot of us were just about to give up on love and all its pleasures. Thank you, genuinely.
Rating: Summary: Great Reading! Review: E. Lynn Harris, Colin Channer and Eric Jerome Dickey are very talented writers, so I had to buy this book. I was not familiar with Marcus Miller, but his story was well written. Although it was somewhat typical, girl ,meets boy, falls in love, boy cheats on girl, etc. It's all so redundant. E. Lynn Harris is the master of romance. He never lets you down. His story was, as usual very romantic and brought tears to my eyes. He is the best! Eric Jerome Dickey's books are great as well. His story was well written and I loved the characters. Colin Channer got me hooked on his writing after "Waiting in Vain" and I was looking forward to reading something else from him. His story was great! Michael and Mia were hot! Colin's descriptions of surroundings, characters, emotions, are so real. As a frequest visitor of Jamaica, I felt the hot sun on my skin, saw and heard the sea, smelled the chicken and pork being "jerked", heard the tree frogs at night and saw the guys sitting around slamming "bones". All of these talented men are to be praised! Keep up the great work and much success to all of you!
Rating: Summary: Men that do know something about love Review: This quadrilogy of stories dealing with real-life issues of love was wonderful. And it was so refreshing to hear it from the words of true, black men. In this day-and-age, where some black men are not considered to be true to their own personal feelings about love. Reading these these four stories did show another light. And of course, my guy E. Lynn Harris socked it to me again with his story and blowing me away with, "Not a Day Goes By". I hope to see more colaboration from these four authors again in the near future.
Rating: Summary: "Got to Be Real" Review Review: All of the stories in "Got to Be Real" were very well done. But, Colin Donner's story, "I'm Still Waiting" is the very best. His descriptive narratives brought the people and places clearly into focus.I went to Jamaica, felt the heat, smelled the sea and was made aware of the gentle breezes of the night. That is how well his adjectives roll onto the pages. What talent he has. I am looking forward to reading more of his work!
Rating: Summary: Colin Channer is superb Review: I have read each and every novel written by these four fabulous writers. Though the other three are talented writers, Colin Channer is miles ahead of the pack. His writing style is that of someone gifted. Someone with skills beyond above average. Colin Channer's topics may not be as popular in all of America as in the culture of those who read contemporary black fiction, but his writing is certainly in the league of the American creme de la crop. I am indebted to him for making me enjoy penmanship this much. Colin's story is great not only because of what it tells and where it is set, but for how it is told. If you want substance, depth, entertainment, and elegance all in one, read a Colin Channer work. His brilliance is unsurpassed in this genre.
