Summary: 4 Major writers in one book
Review: I purchased the book recently and have not yet completed it. Eric Jerome Dickey is my all time favorite writer, because of him Tyrel Wiliams from Friends and Lover's is very much alive. But I have to admit that Cafe Piel did not grab me like his other novels did, that does not mean that it was not good because it was creative it just did not have that" ooh I gotta read this again" feeling...but no matter what I will still be one of your biggest fans. Marcus Major has hit home with a relationship that has it's up's and downs....jealousy and straight hatin dripped from the pages of his story. Even though this is the first piece of work that I have read by him, I will be in the stores looking for more. No relationship is perfect and I noticed that what he has done is portray the real deal Holyfield if ya know what I mean. Now E. Lynn Harris never dissapoints-I am not finished yet with his part but I will say that there is always a character that is in search of love, conversation and companionship. I will finish and come back to update E. Lynn and Colin Channer

Summary: Almost Real....
Review: When I first heard about this book, I ran out and bought it on it's release date. I thought this was going to be a great compilation of stories by four great authors but I was so wrong.

The first story in the book is by Eric Jerome Dickey and it's his second worst story/book I've read by him. The story lacked substance, reality and it didn't keep me drawn to it like his previous books except awful Liars Game.

E. Lynn Harris was definitely not a disapointment. He definitely did his thing on this one. I liked the whole lonely guy and escort concept. He truly is a brilliant author.

Marcus Major didn't disapoint either. I've read his first novel "Good Peoples" and his story is a retrospect of that book. It's a story of how a couple Kenya & Amir met and conquered love. It's also humorous.

The last story in this book is by Colin Channer and I just couldn't get in to this story. Others might like it, so I'm not going to rule it out and say it's bad because I couldn't get into to it.

Overall the book could've been better and I wouldn't recommend anyone purchase it. This is the type of book you get from the library or borrow from a friend.

Peace....

Summary: If You Have a Lot of Time on Your Hands
Review: By all means read this book if you have nothing better to do. This book had 4 short stories but it took me 4 long weeks to read it. It was by far the worse book by all of these wonderful writers. Individually they are outstanding authors but they really should stay away from the "short story" colaborations and stick to doing their "own thing". This book makes for good bedtime reading. It will put you to sleep quicker than Nyquil.

Summary: GOT TO BE REAL
Review: I really enjoyed GOT TO BE REAL. It was calling me from the shelves of Best Buy and I snatched it up because I was so surprised to see what appeared almost as the cover of a Black comic strip. I had no idea what it was about and my curiosty led me to a book that gave me four unique and wonderful stories written by very talented Black men. How did they write stories that both men and woman could enjoy? Honey, they did it..and they did it with eloquence. There are a plethora of enjoyable scenarios throughout the stories that everyone can either relate to or wish they'd discover ;). My favorite story is I'M STILL WAITING by Colin Channer because I have a particular belief that true love could possibly stem from "puppy love" and always have a special place in your heart. The following are scenes from the short stories that I enjoyed: Going to the Jamaican speakeasy with Colin Channer's characters Michael and Mia, to the party in NYC thrown by Thunder in E. Lynn Harris' story, Amir realizing that he really did love Kenya and stationing himself outside her door (do guys really do this? lol..written by a man..so I do believe it ;) in Marcus Major's story and last but not least the meeting of Eric Jerome Dickey's characters Alejandria and Bobby and the weird uneasiness yet sexual magnetism that sometimes exists with a sexy stranger. This book is a must-have that will keep you flipping the pages.

Summary: GOT TO BE REAL
Review: Got To Be Real is an eclectic array of short love stories. There is something for everyone. First off we have Cafe Piel by EJD (***). This stories writing style is very different from previous EJD work. It has a mexican vibe. This story is not bad, but not great either. The story did not have the EJD flair and the sex appeal was not as hot as previous writings. Secondly, Marcus Majors steps up to bat with Kenya and Amir (*****+). Marcus should have been last because he is definitely the clean up man with this wonderfully written short story. This story has so much charisma; by far the best story. The end still has me wondering did she open the door or did'nt she? It's DA BOMB! Thirdly, we have E. Lynn Harris, with Money Can't Buy Me Love (*****). This is vintage Harris at his best. This is a story that touches the heart. Lastly, we have Colin Channer with I'm Still Waiting (**) and that I am. This story was too long and drawn out. It was also a challenging read, I don't know if it was because I had to break out the dictionary or because some of the language was spoken in patois. Whatever the reason I was not feelin' it. My reaction to this story is not surprising, because I've been reading Mr. Channer's book Waiting In Vain on and off for about 3 months. I really appreciate these four authors coming together for this project. Four brothers each telling their own tale of love.

Summary: Great Authors Low Rate Stories
Review: These are four of the best authors that I have read but these stories were not their best. The stories were okay but because they were short they did not have time to develop.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: 2 of the 4 stories should n BEDTIME stories
Review: Eric and Colin need 2 pack it up and try again. Their stories are the first and last of the book and i c y cause if u were 2 read e. lynn and marcus first u would automatically close the book after reading. they r so SO boring. E lynn and Marcus u both that 5 stars each. very gritty stories tht keeps you reading.

COLIN and ERIC after milk in my coffee i no longer read his books i am very turned off and colin i will never read n e thing of his again

PRAISE for E LYNN HARRIS and MARCUS MAJOR

Summary: Be Real
Review: I almost want to give this book 3.5 stars, but I'll give it 4 only because I like the Marcus Major story. I attempted to read the Colin Channer story a couple of time but gave up. The EJD story was ok, and E. Lynn was typical. I guess he writes what he knows. But the Marcus M. story introduces two characters you will read about in Good Peoples, then you have to read 4 guys and trouble. But overall the book was just ok. It's a summer read.

Summary: Nice Novella
Review: I enjoyed this book. The stories were great. My favorite was Colin's story. A great read from our best male writers. Can we get another?

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good Read
Review: E. Lynn Harris never disappoints and he steps up to the plate once again. I loved the story by Jerome Dickey...the characters Kenya and Amir were such a great pair. The Cafe Piel was good...the ending was a bit unrealistic, but the storyline was good. The short story by Channing was awful...I could not finish reading it...I did not know where he was going with the story...this story is why I rate the book a 4 and not a five.
