Summary: Still brilliant
Review: I picked this up again on a second-hand book shelf in a local hospital having read it when it first came out. Fourteen years later it hasn't lost any of its appeal. Brilliantly narrated with quick precise action, the James Bond-esqe 'joie de vivre' and panache of Dirk Pitt means he is the modern Indiana Jones. The plot weaves as intricately as ever from the Roman galleys in Tunisia to modern day Mexico without any let up. The formula is the same as ever, the results we already know but it's how Cussler delivers his hero's victory against the odds with his faithful sidekick and NUMA friends that makes these still readable after all this time

Summary: Fans of James Bond and Indiana Jones will love this book
Review: Having recently started reading Dirk Pitt and his Numa Gang, I read this book for the first time and it introduced me to Dirk Pitt and his friends at Numa. As I have read this book twice already I have enjoyed every aspect of it especially with a new twist to fans of Indiana Jones and James Bond. Clive Cussler has really caught my attention after reading his novel Treasure which discusses Dirk Pitt and Numa's hunt for the Lost Library of Alexandria. In it Clive Cussler catches all us fans of modern day adventure and action which involves the fight of counter-terrorism with one of the main villains being kinda like the terrorist assasin known as the Jackal.
In the way the James Bond and Indiana Jones brought the thrill of Saturday Movies back Cussler keeps the reader moving and continually wanting to read more of his book. I especially love the way Cussler brings the final showdown of this book in an unexpecting area where people would not find the legendary Library of Alexandria. Cussler even adds the famous James Bond comical wit and finesse in his book between Dirk Pitt and his partner in crime Al Giordino and the other characters within this book. It always make you laugh and smile once the finesse and wit are done throughout the book. At times when the story can be serious in his writing.
Treasure has really opened my enjoyment and interests in Clive
Cussler and his hero Dirk Pitt and Numa gang. To the new reader of this book it will make you enjoy Clive Cussler as one of our best action adventure writers in the 20th and 21st Century. Thanks so much Clive for the enjoyment of reading your hero and his exploits.

Summary: Another Great Dirk Pitt Novel
Review: I have recently just started reading Clive Cussler's series of books about Dirk Pitt and his adventures. This is about the 5th book I've read in the series and I have loved every book so far, and this book is no exception.
Treasure includes everything you would expect from a Dirk Pitt novel; action, suspense, mystery and comedy. I loved all of the action and suspense, which was on almost every page of the book, plus I was able to laugh at the jokes and humor in the book. It kept me reading the book for hours at a time, never able to put it down.
If I had to pick out the worst points in the book, I would choose the parts that had to do with politics. I found those parts to really bore me. I would rather read more about Dirk Pitt and his adventures than about politicians in Washington having a meeting. But those parts only do show up a few times in the book so it's not too bad.
Overall Treasure was exciting and like most of Clive Cussler's books, was a great read. Now on to the next Dirk Pitt adventure!

Summary: A Great Pitt Book
Review: One of the best Pitt books ever. You won't be able to put it down. This is one of those books you say you'll put down....after the next page. Cussler has written a great novel once again. Dirk Pitt is very James Bond like.

Summary: Who needs Indiana Jones?
Review: This incredible book although over a decade old cannot be beaten for its wonderfull story, diverse locations and incredible tension. The book reads something between The A-Team, Indiana Jones and James Bond. The characters are perfect and the book just is not long enough. This is still Cussler's best novel.

Summary: A classic adventure-
Review: Treasure is a classic, a great book to start the novice Clive Cussler reader. The hero, Dirk Pitt is the quintessental righter of wrongs. He's James Bond, Indiana Jones and MacGyver all rolled into one, with a great sidekick in Al Giordano. The tongue in cheek humor between the two men make them rivel the greatest comedic teams in history. But when the situation calls for it, they're all business. I have all the Dirk Pitt books and this is one of my favorites. You'll love it.

Summary: One of the greatest Dirk Pitt books ever
Review: Tresure sure delivers the best of Dr. Cussler - it's got a wonderful story, a RICH one, tons of action and cunning both from Pitt and the villains, and the pressure mounts up tremendously until the final pages!
This is my favourite Dirk Pitt book - sharing the #1 spot with Raise the Titanic and Vixen 03.

Summary: Great read!
Review: After having read a half dozen Cussler books, his now familier writing style is addicting. It is a compelling blend of intrigue and softened reality that makes for easy reading in airports, and on the road. Never drippy, and never too harsh. You will probably like it.

Summary: The Pitts
Review: This is not a bad story if you can enjoy an unrealistic protagonist like Dirk Pitt. He's tall, handsome, tough, inexplicably rich, has military rank and civilian standing, and enjoys political clout through his father (Senator Pitt) and friends. Basically, he's Batman without the costume and with more explosive gadgets. The women in the story (a doctor and a diplomat) gush at his patronizing remarks about their good looks and hurl themselves at his feet (and into his bed). The best thing Clive Cussler brings to this story is his experience and knowledge of deep sea operations. The story boasts plenty of action, but it's all a little too unrealistic to hold my attention. I also disagree with the jacket's comment about Clive Cussler being a lot like Dirk Pitt. No real person is like Dirk Pitt.
