Rating: Summary: I love Tim Dorsey's books! Review: Even though this isn't Tim Dorsey's first book, right now it's the first in the series. (Rumor has it there will be another prequel.) You are slowly introduced to the crazy neighbors of Triggerfish Lane. You have the family that moves from the north, a man who waters his lawn at night due to the watering restrictions, an old man who likes test driving cars so he can look at expensive houses that are for sale and pretend he can afford them, and more neighbors that you'll just have to read about yourself. Well, I will tell you a little about Serge... All of Tim Dorsey's book somehow follow Serge and his crazy antics. You see, he should be on medication, but sometimes he doesn't take it and some people end up dead. He also is obscessed with Florida facts, maybe obcessed is an understatement. Anyway, once you read one of Tim Dorsey's books, I'm sure you'll be just as hooked! After Triggerfish, read the following in this order: Florida Roadkill, Hammerhead Ranch Motel, Stingray Shuffle, then Orange Crush!
Rating: Summary: Hysterical! Review: Triggerfish Twist was hysterical ... some of those moments ... and there was a lot of them had me giggling insanely ... Serge is inventive in his murders ... hehehhehehe ... WHAM-O And if you liked everything else this does not disappoint!
Rating: Summary: Another winner from Dorsey Review: This is my third Dorsey novel and he delivers with this one too. Dorsey is a lot like Hiaasen, only with a significantly more violent and demented twist. People are always getting bumped off in his novels, often in very creative ways. Readers of his Florida Roadkill and Hammerhead Ranch Motel books will be delighted to find that Serge and Coleman are back in this novel, which is actually a prequel to these books. Serge fans won't be disappointed as Serge is up to his usual frenetic and frenzied antics and also bumps off at least one deserving scumbag in his usual creative way. Coleman's character gets some hilarious fleshing out and development here, more so than in the previous books. And Sharon the gorgeous cocaine-snorting floozy/nympho makes up the threesome in this novel. The novel is very fast-paced and there is hardly a dull moment during the entire book, and Dorsey builds all the interelated threads and characters up to a spectacular and satisfying climax. Definitely another must-read for the Dorsey fans out there.
Rating: Summary: You'll need a seat belt to read this one. Review: This is one of the funniest and cleverest novels I've ever read. Tim weaves a spiderweb of character story lines that are ever crossing paths. You're guaranteed to laugh out load when reading this, which is a bit awkward if you are sitting in a doctor's waiting room like I was. This was my first Tim Dorsey novel. Now I'm hooked, and my lawn and other chores will undoubtedly be neglected for it.
Rating: Summary: Hysterical Review: This book had me laughing out loud from beginning to end. Serge's Commencement Speach was a winner. I have reread it at least ten times.
Rating: Summary: OUTSTANDING Review: This book was given to me by a friend. WHAT A BOOK!! I could not put it down! Having lived in South Florida for more than 20 years, the references to those little "native" things had me in stiches! My husband thought I had lost my mind. I couldn't read the pages through the tears of laughter! I would recommend this book to EVERYONE -- living in and out of Florida. It truly hits on the highlights and lowlights of Florida life. I'm off to buy the rest of Dorsey's books right now. Don't let this one go by.
Rating: Summary: My first Tim Dorsey Review: But, it won't be my last. I was prepared not to like it and I loved it. Found myself sitting and chortling out loud. It's one sight-gag after another. I'd just think I'd hit on my favorite character and another would come along to bump them out of the lead. Tim Dorsey must be crazy. I salute his creativity and imagination. I am envious.
Rating: Summary: What a Lucky Discovery! Review: I bought this novel without knowing anything about the author's prior works, an impulse buy at the bookstore. Not many authors can make me laugh repeatedly, and at length, but Tim Dorsey can. At the time of writing this review, my first on Amazon, I am purchasing the rest of Mr. Dorsey's efforts. Enough said.
Rating: Summary: Be warned if you read in a public place Review: I read this book on the plane, and I felt sorry for the other passengers - I was laughing so hard at parts I had tears running down my cheek. This book is a perfect read for a way to escape. No matter what you line of work or status in life -- you can find some way to relate to this book and its humor.
Rating: Summary: Laugh Out Loud Review: I stumbled across this book at an airport and laughed all the way to my destination. I absolutely enjoyed every page. This author is a master of comedy and irony. Make a movie of this now and cast Nicolson in the lead role as Serge. I've never liked a truly bad guy so much. I finished the book and bought two more of Doresey's works.
