Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: A book satisfying enough to see it through to the end. Review: I have never been much of a reader, in fact I have only read about six books containing chapters, but because of a strong reccomondations from family members and close friends, I decided to give this book a shot. Even with this high praise, I had many doubts that I would find such a large book even remotely satisfying enough to see it through the end. Needless to say I was quite skeptical, and the first few chapters seemed to support my pessimistic attitude. But as I drug myself through those long laboriously written first chapters, the writting began to change, or perhaps my perception of the book did. The script changed from mindless scribbles to a beautifully written saga of vivid and intriguing magnitude. I found myself, instead of dreading my assigned torture, enjoying the time I could escape from the closed walls and stuffy corridors of modern society, to the simpler existanceof the Clan of the Cave Bear. The book begins with a natural diaster that in its wake leaves a 5-year-old girl naked and alone, mourning for her mother. Alas, all who loved and cared for her were slain or left mortally wounded to die painfully and without any to comfort them in their final hours. The abandoned child's name is Ayla. After many days of starvation and exposure to the harsh elements of a land that lived only by the laws of nature, Ayla was pushed to the limits of her young body, and collapsed in a muddled heap. She is discovered by Iza, the medicine woman of the neandrathalic clan of the Cave Bear. Iza takes her in and teaches her the skills of a medicine woman and the ways of the clan, but Ayla is different and the clan knows this. Trust is a hurdle costantly barring her from the friends, company, and love that she yearns for from the clan. The years drift by, and she passes from the lost bereaving child to an itelligent and self sufficient woman. Her differences in appearance and actions change the most sacred laws of the clan, which encompass the status barrier between men and women. her acts of insolence, though courageous and at times destructive, would leave a lasting impact that the clan would never recover from. This would bring about her final exile into the empty plains from which she was rescued so many years before.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Incredible books, they give a new persepective on CaveLife Review: These books were soo good, I read Clan of the cave bear, then found out that there was a second book called Valley of the Horses, and Now I am reading third book called The Mammoth Hunters. I am intranced with the romance of Ayla and Jondalar. I love Winney and Racer the horses. I now know that there is a fourth book to the series but I have no Idea what it is called or where I can get it. If anybody knows could you please tell me?
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: THESE BOOKS ARE EXCELLENT! Review: I really enjoyed these books. Once you start one, you cannot put it down. Auel makes you feel as if you are part of the story. In reading some of the other reviews, I have read that there is a fourth book. I don't think I have read it yet. Can anyone tell me what it is?
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Fantastic saga that is begging to be finished! Review: I read all four books this past summer/fall and could not put them down or get the story out of my head! It is hard to say which book I liked best. One reviewer found the inventions unbelievable. I disagree. They were natural accidents of discovery. Because of Ayla's hunting skills and medicinal knowledge, she was the only one likely to have survived alone. I thoroughly enjoyed this vicarious time travel and the plausable evolution of customs, religious beliefs and relationships. Is anyone aware of a website for the Earth's Children?
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Excellent Series .Read it more than once. Review: I liked Jean M Auels series because she made it one of the most interesting series. I have ever read and I have read a lot of series. It kept me interested for a long time and I have read it more than once.
