Summary: This is my favorite book of poetry
Review: This book has always been my favorite book of poetry. I borrowed it from the library as often as I could. I finally bought a copy of it for myself about 15 years ago. Anyone who likes poetry will love this book.

Summary: Wonderful book.
Review: This book has the poem in it my Mother's Mother read to her and then my Mother read to me....Over the hill to the poor house, I am winding my weary way, I a woman of seventy and only a trifle gray.... when I read this it brings my Mother back to me full force. I just love the whole book.

Summary: Best Book of Poems
Review: This collection of poems, copyrighted in 1936, was compiled by Hazel Felleman, who drew on her 15-year experience as editor of the Queries and Answers page of The New York Times Book Review. She received multiple inquiries daily from all over the country about favorite poems, learning much about the poetry preferences of Americans. She used that knowledge to great advantage in this selection of poems. Many of the poems that I remember from school (I'm an American), up to and including college, are here. Although I don't consider myself a lover of poetry, this book is one of my favorites (definitely my favorite poetry book among several that I own), one that I refer to often. My grandchildren also greatly enjoy being read to aloud from it.

Summary: My Favorite Book
Review: This is a book my Mother, Brother and I read together when I was a child. There are many, many beautiful Poems in this collection. I have owned this book for as long as I can remember, I am 52 and I read and reread this book always finding something new and special. In this book I have found so much pleasure I am ordering a new copy because my original copy is worn and coming apart. Thank you for having the book in supply, since it was published in 1936, I thought my worn copy was irreplaceable. If I had one book, this would be that book. If you love someone, or have a special friend this is a most wonderful experience to share.

Summary: Solid Addition to my Library
Review: This nice anthology has most of my favorite poems. There are many poems that I will want to read over and over again, to myself and to my children. I also have enjoyed another poetry anthology, "Poetry for a Lifetime", which has a similar collection of old favorites, but with added illustrations and comments from the editor. They both are great additions to any home library.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: In my "Top 5" list of favorite books.
Review: Where can I find another collection of this caliber? A treasury of human experience, this is one of my favorite books. Since childhood I have been moved by these profound and yet generally easy to understand poems. I find it no less moving as an adult. I know this is "lowbrow", but I appreciate the fact that with few exceptions these poems actually rhyme. This contributes a great deal to my enjoyment of poetry. Though I admit I am no student of poetry, It seems to me that most contemporary poets have abandoned rhyme (as well as the wonderfully idealistic themes so commonly expressed in this collection). I highly recommend this book.
