Summary: This book is weak, weak, weak!
Review: I have to be honest and try to steer people away from this book. I had not read anything by this author previously and bought it based on the recommendations on Amazon. It turned out to be a waste of valuable reading time.

The plot and characters are thinly developed. The humor isn't ingenious or funny, and any potential for the subject matter to be interesting just doesn't come across to me. I truly can't understand all of the positive reviews, but maybe this sophomorically written and shallowly developed piece is what alot of readers want. I really can't think of one character or situation in this book that is inventive or genuinely imaginative. Sorry.

My advice, look elsewhere for reading that is worthwhile, unique, and fun to read.

Summary: All-time favorite
Review: Easy to read, yet absolutely interesting, and funny as heck to boot! The story is about an insurance salesman with a past that ties him to his Native American roots. Being a Native American, the trickster God Coyote naturally gets involved in his life, with hilarious and thought-provoking results. This is one of those books that make you laugh out loud, and instantly you want a hundred copies to lend to all of your friends.

Summary: Very Different
Review: Moore has written another interesting story. This book isn't as funny and bizarre as some of his others. But, once you get into the story line you will find yourself intrigued by the Crow life. This story revolves around a character named Sam, who is a Crow Indian. The story develops with the coyote god coming into Sam's life at the same time as a breath taking woman. His life is turned upside down and the plot just thickens. A great read that will keep you guessing.

Summary: Gods, Biker Gangs, and Hippies
Review: Cayote Blue was a book my freind was given as a birthday gift she never read. I won't have either if a week long case of the flue hadn't left me in need of a good book. Thank god it did, though because what a wonderful book.

While I have read other Moore books after this, whose plots have been better woven, I still pick up Coyote Blue when I want a laugh. The plot is improbable (becuase anceint gods don't ususally just show up) and the characters crazy (who names their child Grubb?) but if you have the imagination to look past the insane characters and accept the story, be prepared for a fun crazy ride. It'll be a good time. I highly recomend this book.

Summary: Another Trip in the Wacky Mind of Christopher Moore
Review: I've enjoyed everything I've read by Christopher Moore, and though I liked "Coyote Blue" there are some serious gaps in the plot. As usual there is a lots of zaniness and a few laugh out loud parts. Also Moore again does a great job with his characterization. Moore can write characters that you will remember for a long time. In total the storyline is what knocks it down a few notches from Moore's other works.

"Coyote Blue" is return to your roots story about Sam Hunter. Sam a Crow Indian has to leave is reservation after accidentally killing a police officer. Sam moves to California where he becomes an insurance salesman. His new life has everything a nice car, a fancy house and lots of money. What Sam does not have is his heritage, something that he has been trying to hide. He meets Calliope Kincaid and wish for her. That is when Old Man Coyote a shape shifting Indian god shows up. He slowly starts to ruin Sam's new life. Sam tries to rid himself of Coyote, but when Calliope's old boyfriend kidnaps Calliope's son Grubb, Coyote and Sam must team together for a quest that leads them to Las Vegas and then Wyoming and Sam's reservation.

Three stars may seem a bit low, but this novel takes to many leaps of fate even for Moore. The novel storyline has just a few too many holes in it, also uncharacteristic too Moore. I do recommended this novel however and you do need to look past the novels flaws and enjoy another trip in Moore's mind. This is still good but not his best.

Summary: I laughed so hard I almost peed in my pants!!
Review: This is one of my favorite books of all time. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time! Christopher Moore just has a way of saying things so outrageuos in such a casual way. I've read all of his books and they were great but this is by far the best. People keep stealing it from me everytime I lend it out so I've started to give it as a standard present. Highly recommended to anyone except the old and frail.

Summary: Howling For Moore
Review: Christopher Moore has a knack for combining humor, horror and heart in varying but always synergistic proportions. In this, what I consider his best book, the humor and heart tend to dominate. You'll learn about modern Native American life, get a peek into the secrets of the insurance industry, and remember what it was like to fall in love for the first time. Sam Hunter, an insurance salesman running away from a horrible but justified crime he committed in his youth, is chased down by Coyote, a common Native American folklore figure. He seems to ruin Sam's life, but the plot twists and turns several times before the big finish. Moore takes a few swipes at bikers, druggies, and Southern California in general before it's all over. You'll laugh out loud, alright, but you may wipe a few tears away too.

Summary: Carl Hiaasen Heads West!
Review: I picked this up on one of those "staff recommendation" shelves, having not the slightest idea what to expect. What a fun book! If you are a Hiaasen fan, I GUARANTEE you will love it! It had me laughing out loud several times, and made two three-hour airplane rides seem like 15 minutes.

Disclaimer: These 5 stars are awarded in the 'Animal House' sense, not in the 'Citizen Kane' sense!

Summary: This guy is amazing.
Review: A friend of mine got me to read love nun, and I absoltly adored it... Moore is a brillant writer and his skills with charecter devolpment are amazing. Ever sense reading Love nun I have not been able to put Moore down. Coyote Blue is just as good as the rest, if Not better. I cant compare it to BS fiends cause I have'nt read that yet, But it is right up there with the rest of moores witty novels. Over all Essisment, If you like good charecters, a good plot, and a good laugh, Moore is your man.
