Summary: Realistic plot. Editing is a shambles.
Review: I enjoyed Teri Woods first attempt at penning a ghetto-drama about life in the hood with True to the Game, published by Meow Meow Productions. I got the impression that she has first hand knowledge of what is really happening out there, which made me want to read B-more Careful. This second novel was entertaining but left a bad taste in my mouth when I finished reading it. Although the story was written by Shannon Holmes (is she really from Baltimore, or just frontin?) I was left with my mouth wide open as I repeatedly found gramatical errors (not in the dialect, cause that's how B-more people speak, unfortunately) as well as spelling mistakes throughout the work. I was disappointed in this since it is an obvious oversight by the editor and publishing company. I was under the impression that editors don't just check the realiability of the author's work but also check the grammar. Or maybe I was mistaken- were all of the gramatical errors intentional? Either way, I wanted to believe in the characters but some of the stuff in this book was way over the top. For instance, Netta finds out that she and Mimi are long lost sisters at Mimi's funeral (who knew that Tina was stepping out on Willie). Come on, that wasn't very believable. Additionally, when Netta finally falls in love with Tone is completely unexpected and really weakens Netta's character. Why couldn't she fall in love with Black when he truly did love her? And why would Tone fall in love with Netta when she was just raped? I guess that brief conversation on her steps that afternoon must have really made an impression on him. Whatever. But really, I was hoping for a lot more with this book and I understand what Ms. Holmes was trying to do, but to be honest, I think she was trying to do to much in one book. Next time, break up the book and give the characters more substance. Think sequel. All in all, Ms. Holmes gets an A for effort but her editor and publisher, Ms. Woods, gets an F. Sorry to put you out there like that ladies, but as you know, it's all a part of the game.

Summary: off the chain...not because I'm from b-more
Review: I loved this book because it came accross very realistically. I've never lived the lifestyle of the gold digging females portrayed, but it gave a clear picture of what some females will do for money, as well as the consequences.

Review: EXCELLENT BOOK!!!! I HAD NO CLUE BALTIMORE GETS DOWN AND DIRTY LIKE THAT! I FEEL THAT WE AS ADULTS NEED TO EDUCATE OUR YOUNG TEENAGE GIRLS AND BOYS BY LETTING THEM READ AND DISCUSS WITH US THE BOOK.

Summary: Good Entertainment
Review: This book had me wondering what was going to happen next someimes, but some of the book was very predictable. It was good entertainment and thats about it.

Summary: Page Turner
Review: This book is a page turner for real. It becomes interesting as the author has the ability to keep the reader wanting to know what could possibly happen next. The results couldn't be foretold to the extremes of the actual novel. I read morning noon and night hoping that "Black" would get his wishes, but as we know sometimes being the only living survivor "Netta" has live with herself and that would be ultimate pennance. The book overall is really good and reads so quickly that the grammatical errors that others have stated seem to go by unnoticed due to social situations,it fits. Urban novels can slip somewhat because you never know if the author is trying to simulate the setting or mirroring the lanquage of the "ghetto".

Summary: Women and their Power
Review: I didn't read this for a great piece of literature but rather to be entertained by a novel concerning a different life than I normally see, girls growing up in the ghetto dating the players and all the problems that implies. Actually, I read the first 100 pages and left my book at an airport. After a week I was interested enough in the characters that I had to buy another.

This book narrates the lives of two girls growing up in the ghetto trying to break out of past patterns and how they are drug back in. They recognize what their value is and become determined to use it to their advantage. But sometimes when you play with fire you get fire, and that's exactly what happens.

I found this an interesting read that in the last quarter of the book has some interesting plot twists that make the book even more interesting. If you are interested in reading a book of growing up in the ghetto, even though there are stereotypes and exaggerations, I would recommend this book.

Summary: Real Ghetto Love Story
Review: This was an excellent portray of the drug game. If you were born in the "ghetto" you know what I mean. If you were not you will still be able to relate. This is a real account of what some people have to do to live. It also shows that no matter how one grows up that same person still has feelings and is not a monster contrary to what modern society believes.

Summary: A GOOOOOD BOOK!
Review: I don't usually read stories about "the life", but this one I am glad that I read it. This book had me on the edge of my seat until I figured that I had to finish the rest of it the day after I bought it. It is packed with action, drugs, and murder. Despite the many grammar mistakes the book contained, I really enjoyed reading it.

Summary: Good but cannot touch True To The Game
Review: This book was good, it showed how a girl Netta and her friends tried to play all the hustlers but Netta ran across the wrong one. Black wasn't going for Netta trying to play on him and he taught her a lesson that she will never forget. Even though some parts, especially the end was over exaggerated the book turned out to be good. The Pussy Pound was out for that cheddar and to live lavish but being in a lifesyle with selling drugs and killing it will come to an end.

Summary: B-MORE CAREFUL
Review: THE BOOK WAS VERY EXCITING TO ME IT HAD ME GLUED FROM THE FIRST PAGE. I COULDN'T WAIT TO GET HOME FROM WORK TO READ THIS BOOK. IF YOU LIKED TRUE TO THE GAME YOU WILL LOVE THIS ONE TOO.
