Rating: Summary: The Best Possible Street Author Since Donald Goings Review: Shannon is very talented and his book is so hot as we say in the street
Rating: Summary: Be very more careful Review: This novel was a fast-paced,suspenseful,action-packed thriller.I wished it would have never ended. Any fan of street novels such as "Coldest Winter Ever" or True to the Game" will love this book. Though these three books share similar themes, the way the author paces and words the story is drastically different. Mr.Shannon Holmes crafts a clever tale of sex, money and murder. From the comfort of your own home, he takes you into the streets. Into places you maynot normally be in or situations you maynot normally see. You get to see the flip side of the game. Things are not peaches and cream. If you are an observant reader you will see that this story is really about conflict, struggle, drama and change. The author definetely gives the reader a moral to the story. He peaches without sounding preachy. I was throughly satisfied after I finished this novel. I DEFINITELY GOT MY MONEY's WORTH!!!!!
Rating: Summary: It could happen . . . Review: In the beginning I must say I was hesitant about how good the book would be, but Shannon Holmes proved me wrong. Another review said that the book was "trash," in my opinion I don't believe that to be the case. It depends on what you like, and I personally like books about the street life because I am around it and in all actuality a lot of what she wrote about is not too far from the truth. The plots and going ons can be true for many people . . . .I know . . . . so if you liked true to the game and the coldest winter ever you'll enjoy this one too, if you didn't, you probably won't.
Rating: Summary: A must read. Review: I just finished reading this book! I felt I had to review it as soon as possible. The book is excellent. Ms. Holmes covered every base possible. The character Netta displayed an enormous amount of strength. I enjoyed Ms. Holmes displaying Netta's emotions and allowing us to see that Netta could give and receive love. Ms. Holmes did justice for every character in the book. This book reminds me of the saying "The game is cold but it's fair." I was glad that Netta was able to overcome her love for the game and move on with her life. If you enjoyed "The Coldest Winter Ever", you will enjoy this as well.
Rating: Summary: valley of the dolls for black folks Review: B-More Careful is trash but like Valley of the Dolls it's fun trash. From the moment you meet the heroine, the leader of the P---y Pound girl gang you know this book is not going to be something you'll use for a book report or admit to reading in your book club. I laughed,I cringed and I admit I liked it. The writing is as rough as industrial strength sandpaper. An editor could have helped immensely and the last chapter was just slapped on but if you just want a book to be fun this is it. B-More compares favorably to True to the Game.
Rating: Summary: Great Book! Review: I found this book to be one of the best readings in a long time! Shannon Holmes has really done a great job!!!!!
Rating: Summary: An Escape to the Other Side Review: This was a great read. Quick and full of action. I appreciated the glance of the other side. It was interesting to see the choices that many people will make in the pursuit of power, money, and material things. This was a good first attempt for Shannon Holmes. However, there were a few typos in the book, but not enough to distract this reader. Good Job! I can't wait for the next one.
Rating: Summary: B-more Careful!! Review: I enoyed this book from begining to end. It held my attention from the start. And it did not dissapoint me. I walked a thoroughly satisfied. B-more Careful dealt with the mysterious street life. Author Shannon Holmes paints the perfect picture of life on the mean streets of Baltimore,Maryland. He takes us into the street, into situations we as readers may not normally see and places we may not normally be. B-more careful is about conflict, struggle drama and change. It's filled with morals and principles. There is a method to this author's madness. The underlying theme here is, you may be done with the past but sometimes the past is not done with you.
