Summary: On second thougt
Review: When I first read B-More I didn't care for it. After reading it again I've changed my mind. It's a good story and just when you think that the author is glorifying the street life Shannon Holmes turns around and shows the reader that Thugs pay a price for their lifestyles. Without preaching the author quietly offers a lesson about actions having consequences. It is an exciting tale and if you loved Coldest Winter or True to the Game this book will thrill you too. Hopefully the author will get a better editor and proofreader for the next edition of the book because it screams, cries, and begs for grammatical help in several places.

Summary: Ghetto Fabulous with a Twist of Love
Review: It is so amazing to come from a city that reads (Baltimore) and have a book on this calibur written about this wonderful place. I was totally amazed to read this book as quickly as I did. I loved every page. I couldn't put it down. I read it in a matter of 24 hours.

The book was reality. The locations, the people, the P Pound, and the hangouts are all actual locations and characters from the streets of Bmore.

It's amazing how a male who was locked up for 4 months could depict this story so well. Yes that's right, Shannon Holmes is a guy (I know my facts). He made you believe you were truly in Netta's, Mimi, Nard's, Tina's, Dollar's, Black's, etc. shoes. He made you understand the game and how every player is vital.

I hope True to the Game and B-More Careful are only the start of what's to come from Meow Meow Productions.

Summary: Now I Get It!...
Review: I have lived in Baltimore for the past 10 years and now I completely understand the high homicide rate, hustler (male & female) mentality, the high drug use and drug trafficking that went on there after reading Shannon's book. I use to wonder if there was a method to the madness there and his book gives us a believable explanation.
His book was an easy read and I finished it in 2 days and am reading it again to make sure that I did not miss a detail.
The only suggestion I have is for him to perform better editting.
(Page 129: third and sixth paragraphs; page 132: fifth paragraph, pages 137, 138: Hartford Rd is in actuality Harford Rd; page 144, first paragraph; page 156, fifth paragraph; and page 178, third & fourth paragraph.) These errors were annoying speed bumps to my otherwise racing-through-the-pages eyes.

Summary: Needs *serious* rewriting
Review: While Shannon Holmes most likely has the ability to tell a good story, "B-More Careful" needs some serious editing. There are numerous grammatical and typographical errors. For instance, Mr. Holmes uses the term "Zorloff," instead of "Zoloft." I also found the overuse of profanity very distracting from the story. Many parts were confusing, and the use of "ghettoese" slang in the narrative parts most likely will be confusing to anyone not familiar with the language of the "hood." I grew up in Chicago and I am familiar with Baltimore, and many of the realities of street life in Mr. Holmes' book rang true. However, I did question the idea of a father not encouraging a child to at least finish high school, opting instead for the son to drop out and get an early start of living a life of crime. With some work on polishing character development, research on the proper names of prescription drugs, and an editor who can assist with grammar and spelling, maybe Mr. Holmes' next book will be much better. Some are comparing this book to Sister Souljah's "Coldest Winter Ever." There is absolutely no contest; Ms. Souljah's book is a masterpiece of literary art, while "B-More Careful" is comparable to badly-written pulp fiction.

Summary: Streetlife is The only life I know or is it?
Review: I truly enjoyed this first book by Shannon Holmes. It was a definite page turner. There was no good point in this book to say ok, I'll read the rest tomorrow, you wanted to read it all NOW..The character development was wonderful, we were given enough information on the characters to feel emotions for them. I am from the streets and have friends and associates who are still stuck in the streets; all aspects of it.

B-More Careful wasn't just about drugs, guns, material things and getting paid. It was a story about life in the streets of Baltimore. It was the story about life and what you make of it. You have power to change the game, don't let it change you. How the game is played doesn't necessarily have to end your life.

Netta wanted love, Mimi craved attention and popularity, Black needed power, and the streets grabbed them all or did it?
In the style of No Disrespect but a voice of her own Shannon Holmes has spun a wicked tale that MUST be read by everyone.
On the APOOO scale this book demands a ^5

Summary: Ghetto Fabulous!!!!
Review: This book was the bomb. Everybody was giving the Coldest Winter ever its props, but it has nothing on B-More Careful. I want to see this in the movies and produced by the best to capture all of its glory.

This story seems so real, which I have come to find out that some of these people actually do and did exist in Baltimore.

Pick it up you will not be disappointed.

Summary: EXCELLENT !
Review: This was an excellent book with a great story. This book was well written and very explicit. I enjoyed "True to the game" also, but this story took another turn to me. True to the game was a great love story and a little ganster which kept me interested. I imagined what Gina & Quadir looked like in my mind and believe it or not when I completed reading that book, I felt like I lost something. Now B-More Careful to me was more about how these pretty ladies chased money using their looks, and bodies, and what they endured during the process. What was so sad was how these young ladies saw "pain" as "love". Now, at least "Netta" realized that she needed to change her way of thinking and respect herself which would gain respect from others. The other ladies never came to that conclusion and I guess that is why they are still running that "tried" game. Netta had a secoind chance at life but you know in the real world sometime you don't have a second chance. All in all this was a good book and I will continue to read her literature as long as Terri/Shannon continue to produce such outstanding material.
