Summary: A seemingly joyous philosophical ride
Review: Tom Robbin's first novel hits the essence of a free-for-all ideological society where there are no boundaries in literature. Once you read this novel the poignant, colorful characters will have you screaming for more (run Plucky, run!). Time will pass then you will discover that you have read all of his books and find yourself checking the bookshelf for his next book. Read it! It is a modern literary classsic.

Summary: A reference point in American writing craftsmanship.
Review: I cannot walk by a bookstore without quickly glancing to see if the next Robbins novel is on the shelf yet. This was his first and mine, too. So often I've had to stop and wonder at how anyone can shape the english language so deftly. Robbins works words the way night replaces day: naturally, lovingly and unashamedly. Another Roadside Attraction and Jitterbug Perfume replace the last trace of prudish blushing about sexuality with the ease and total sense of 'without this I will cease to need to exist' that a bee displays as it participates in the mating of two flowers. Don't miss it.

Summary: Boring, ridiculous, unnecessary and futile book to read
Review: This book reflects Tom Robbin's psychotic and confused mind by being just that -- psychotic and confusing. It glorifies the hippidom when it was totally a disgraceful time in America's history. Its sexual innuendoes are also offensive and unnecessarily explicit -- it is written as if it was meant to attract horny men. In one phrase: "DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME READING THIS."

Summary: Cosmically necessary
Review: It's been about twenty years since I read this wonderful book;I think the time has come to visit Amanda and company again. Thanks for reminding me of a precious friend!! And, all I can say about Tom Robbins is "YUM"!

Summary: This book will change your life!
Review: This book HAS changed my life. How so?Let me tell you.It questions pretty much everything upon which modern,Western life is based.Christianity,"freedom",drugs, the feds, prtty much "The American Way".All are achieved through a sparkling, refreshing wit and humour rarely seen in a pretty accessible read.It is not Thompson nor Kereoac(?)but reads more like Pratchett or Adams. If you are looking for "The meaning of meaning"or wish to cast a more jaundiced eye over the establishment(s),hook up with Plucky,Mon Cul,Amanda and Ziller. But remember,it is all about the girl.

Summary: An intricately woven tale of what we wish the 60's were
Review: Read it and throw most of the rest of Robbin's stuff away. The first novel is sometimes the most polished jewel, as published authors are driven by their publishers to produce with speed. Speed kills. This is absolutely my favorite book.

Summary: Thank you Mr. Robbins ... thank you very much
Review: Another Roadside Attraction was the the second Robbins book I've read after Jitterburg Perfume. I was deligted reading the first but felt really good when I turned the last page of this one. All that could be said about religion was there ... all I would like to write and share was already contained in this book. I just thought " there is no way I could do this in such a talented and beautiful way " so decided to give up writing. It is simply "excellent".

Summary: Outstanding imagery, imagination. Thought provoking.
Review: A truly fantastic book - easily one of my favorites. Robbins combines outstanding imagination and imagery with humour and thought provoking philosophy. He has managed to outline the struggle between self and religion that many partake in daily often without being able to qualify it. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone who has ever once thought about their own mortality, morals, values and beliefs - religious or otherwise.

Summary: Robbins Is Genius
Review: My ex-girlfriend recommended the book to me so I was hesitant to read it but once I did I was thankful. I'm a religion/philosophy college student so I enjoyed the religious implications that arose from the finding of The Corpse. I loved Robbins use of the language and his acid trip-like scenarios. Recommend this book to anyone who wants a good laugh as well as a good deal of philosophy.

Summary: My Favorite Fiction
Review: When I first read this book in college I was stunned. I had no idea reading could be THIS good. This book, along with Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas, proved to me that there's more out there than "classic's" and I have enjoyed reading ever since. The bohemian-hippie-freak overtones changed my life. Required reading for all "heads"
