Rating: Summary: Perfect Love Casts out Fear Review: Arnold's portrayal of the pains of prejudice inflicted on the innocent broke my heart, but with each turn of the page he showed how love, honor and loyalty to one's beliefs can overcome even the most deeply inbedded hatred. A truly inspiring story you won't want to put down!!
Rating: Summary: New Light on racism in America Review: Being that I am usually not an avid reader, I was astonished to find that The Ties That Blind kept one hundred percent of my attention at all times. The things that were once only knowledge taken from history books and not taken so seriously, were brought home to me by The Ties That Blind in a new light. Everything was more authentic to me and I felt great sympathy for all of the past victims of racial discrimination. The character Daniel reminds us that we can overcome our enemies hatred by returning the hate with love and leaving all things in the hands of God. I truly believe that this novel alone can change the hearts of many racists that still exists in America today.
Rating: Summary: A Riveting Story Review: I can't recall 250 pages flying by so quickly in any other book. This is a fascinating, riveting tale by an author whose writing grabs you by the collar and won't let go. Mr. Gibbs paints vivid pictures of every scene - I felt like I was right there with Jake and Daniel at every turn of the page. I've read many stories of Vietnam and none put me right back in-country quite the way this one did. But this is far more than a Vietnam story; it is a story of life itself and of the indomitable human spirit. Arnold Gibbs has written a remarkable book that I am happy to recommend with the greatest enthusiasm!
Rating: Summary: The Ties That Bind by Arnold Gibbs Review: I could not put the book down, I just loved every minute. It combined lessons of love and forgiveness with fact and history. Arnold was able to tell a great story by putting a light on a dark spot in the American history. Hopefuuly people who read this will come away with new thoughts on prejudice. He makes you feel like the characters are true and a part of them lives in each and every of us. Thier are so many levels to this book the lessons come in layers. Through a great story line you end the book with suprise and a heart full of love.
Rating: Summary: Interesting but Sobering Review: I couldn't stop reading it once I started and it has some surprises. Not only is it an interesting story but it was emotionally sobering with it's all too real depiction of racial predjudice in America. However, it is clear, the author doesn't have an axe to grind on the issue of racial predjudice. Highly recommended reading! Enjoyed it!

Rating: Summary: A Must Read for Vietnam Vets Review: I found the book to be engrossing and well done. Anyone who wants to live the Vietnam experience should read this book.
Rating: Summary: Blinding Reality Review: This was one of the most interesting and saddening depictions of race and prejudice in America. Nowhere has the truth been potrayed in a more realistic and sobering fashion. Arnold Gibbs captures the essence of the era, and reveals the truth about the hurt and pain of injustice. I would Highly recommend this to student of justice, and American History.
