Summary: These five volumes speak directly to my heart.
Review: Because of this work, the bible comes alive for me. My wife and I take turns reading each other favorite stories, and then sharing our faith. This book has placed God in the proper and first place in my life and I will NEVER let Him, or these stories, go away. EVERYONE has time for this type of literature. Our children ASK US to read these stories to them. Thank you GOD !

Summary: the most meaningful book i've ever read

Summary: No flaw or contradiction with the truth whatsoever!
Review: Books of a spiritual nature must always be read with careful discernment. I have been reading this spectacular 5 volume set for the past 6 years, and can find no flaw or contradiction with the truth whatsoever. It was truly co-written by the lord himself. If Maria or anyone else had written it purely from their own imagination, it would have contained contradictions with itself and the bible as so many other writings do. Such is not the case here. Not a book of poetry; but a beautiful, descriptive account of the life of Jesus. Concentrating mainly on the last three years of his life on Earth. Practically a day to day account. If you are interested in a deeper understanding of the lord, this is a must read.

Summary: Mysteries of the Bible Revealed
Review: Ever wonder why scripture says that Jesus was crucified and buried and on the third day he arose from the dead yet he was crucified on Friday afternoon and arose on (Easter) Sunday Morning. No matter how one counts the days by hours or sunrise/sunset this is less than two days. Why do two apostles write about the demoniac(s) of Gadara that were cast into pigs but one apostle describes two demoniacs and the other apostle says there was one demoniac? Why is the raising of Lazurus from death so significant when Jesus brought many people back to life? I have watched history shows on The Learning Channel which searched for the location of the lost cities of Sodom and Gomorra yet I read in the Poem that they were covered by the Dead Sea. These volumes are filled with an immense collection of historical, scientific, and theological information. The true mysteries of these books are, however, the impossibly human conceived wisdom and love one learns as well as the intimate living experience one gains of all the apostles and saints of the New Testament.

Summary: Do You Believe? Do You Doubt? Do You Need to Understand?
Review: For those who believe, this reading experience will only strengthen their faith! For those who have doubts and would like to learn and experience what it was like to live in the time of Jesus and to follow His life and truly experience His sacrifice and love for us, I recommend reading these books. If you cannot find or afford the five volume set than at least purchase the fifth volume and read it! You cannot help but be changed after this reading experience!

Summary: Powerful stuff ... Almost like being there
Review: I bought volumes 1 and 2 out of the 5.

This is a full version of the Gospels, a far more detailed account of the Life of Jesus than you get in the Bible, based on the revelations to/visions of Maria Valtorta. This book has had some controversy about being accepted by the Church, which is understandable, for the line between revelation and delusion can be a thin one.

Nevertheless, I find this work to be very authentic, inspiring, detailed and visual. It is almost like being there, and it is very difficult not to be struck by the power of the words of Jesus, and I find it in some respects even more illuminating than the Bible.

For example, in The Bible when the disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray like he does, he taught them the Our Father, which takes up two paragraphs of text.

In this book the whole sequence runs to several pages. Jesus goes into much more detail saying why this is the most perfect prayer, and then proceeds to explain each line and its meaning. Some of the words of the prayer as recounted here are different, but to me actually clearer than in the standard version, eg 'hallowed be thy name'becomes 'may your name be kept holy' and 'lead us not into temptation' is 'do not put us to the test but deliver us from the evil one.'

I find it impossible to believe that anybody could create a staggering work like this and dream up anything as profound as the words of Jesus as recounted here.

If you are questing after spiritual truth, this book will definitely help you on your journey, and I highly recommend it. I look forward to buying the other volumes in the future.

Summary: Source for much of Mel Gibson's Passion
Review: I first became familiar with this through William F. Buckley Jr's book "Nearer My God" where he quotes at length from volume 5 of this set in Chapter 8 of his book. While watching Mel Gibson's movie "The Passion" I could not help notice events in the movie that were not based on scripture but were similar to, or almost exactly, as described by Valtorta.
I have since ordered the set and in reading through them realize that this added picture of the life of Jesus is the essence of Valtorta's work. Whether understood as a mystical communication, inspiration of a thoughtful person, or literature of a thoughtful interpreter of the Gospels this is certainly facinating material. Be prepared for a lengthy sojourne. These are much longer than the Harry Potter series through book five in length, just to give you an idea.

The relationship the Vatican has had with these works is also an interesting issue.

Summary: you read the Bible now read this.
Review: I have read 4 of the 5 books and they have inlived my personal life by filling in where the bible skips. The ability of Jesus to still love Judas even before the betrayel. The visions emplore you to read your bible again and with the Holy spirit. For example, we know where Jesus met Peter, Andrew, Matthew but where did the other disciples come from? Volume one gives the correct answer. Incredible must read for all.

Summary: The Passion
Review: I have recently begun reading volume 5, which deals with the passion, the resurrection, and the glorification.

This book is based on the revelations to / visions of Maria Valtorta, and are far more detailed than the Bible. The whole set is over 4,200 pages.

I have also recently seen the movie The Passion of the Christ.
If you have already read the Bible, and are interested in learning more about Jesus, you will find this a visual illuminating book, with more detail than the Bible.

Interestingly enough some of the information in the movie, which is not in the Bible is also contained here, such as the dislocation of Jesus limbs, and turning the cross over before raising it.

I must say I am very pleased with this book, and I highly recommend it. I now have three volumes of the 5.
